For me, Laila Is as much a part of this story as PaRud. The story is a long running one, there was ample scope to explore her side of the story and build up a beautiful narration. The relation that she and Rudra shared was a unique one, a side not much explored in Indian TV. She would have become the vamp anyway, that I know but what irked me was that her jealous side was brought on too abruptly and she was made to disappear too quickly.
The way I expected it is that they could have used her in a much better way to develop the original love story. Instead what do we have? She appears once a month, plotting and scheming meaninglessly.
For all it matters, I don't care much about the drama. Relating to the characters is more important for me. And I couldn't relate to what Laila has become. So for me that part of the story lacked proper closure and yes I do feel the character was butchered.
Why is she as much of the story as PaRud? I'm genuinely curious. Okay true but how could they have narrated her beautifully? She's simply an obstacle between PaRud. How was her relationship with Rudra unique? Rudra needed sex and she provided it to him with the agreement that she wouldn't expect anything more from him. Happens all the time here in the west - men use women for sex and nothing more and then proudly and openly choose another woman for marriage. Hell, John Abraham was actually in a relationship with Bipasha Basu, he didn't only use her for sex but after several years he separated from her and married another woman who he only knew for a bit. Just because Rudra spent 8 years with Laila doesn't mean he owes her anything. They had an understanding too. Sometimes you indulge in long term relationships with people but you know very well that you will never marry that person. How could you relate to Laila? Why would you want too? Like I want to understand. I do agree however that they could have used her character in a better and bigger way. It would have been great to see how Paro handled her, especially if she didn't act like such a psycho.
