Let me just confess that I simply loved Ashish yesterday. He was brilliant. The scene could have gone awry because of OTT acting. He nailed it just right. The myriad portrayal of emotions was brilliantly done.

I agree that Rudra is no "sweet, decent" guy and he is desperate as he has put his neck on the line. But I still believe that in spite of all his macho, intimidating act, he is not really as uncaring a jallad as he portrays himself to be. His devil may care attitude does hide a heart that cares. At least it is not insensitive to the hurt and pain of the others. I know he is putting Paro through a lot and not just physically but most importantly mentally. But in spite of his jallad act he had always been aware of her needs. I think we should cut him some slack because the man has his job, his name at stake, of course he is desperate. Yet he hasn't yet lost his conscience so that he would stand and watch as a woman out of her own volition undergoes abuse.

And that I think must be kept in mind. He is jalld yet he is not as insensitive as he portrays himself to be. Time and again he had proved he cares. Whatever might have incited him to care for her. He did. He considered her as serious s business and was not afraid to even lay down his life for her when the situation demanded.

And no I am not citing Rudra standing up for Paro and taking a slap on her behalf as an example of his sensitive or caring attitude. He goes out of his way and risks the ire of his mistress to procure some feminine attire for Paro. This might sound petty, but I think it shows his thoughtfulness because he was under no obligation to think of her comfort. His only business was to make sure she survives to tell the tale of Thakur's treason.

He is of course under obligation to keep her safe and alive. So he must satisfy her basic needs of food, water, clothing and shelter. And he must protect her since she is his only witness.

I was never a feminist as such. I respect the differences between a man and a woman. And would like it if people, specially men did so too.

That's something. Anyway, it would remain a mystery for me as to ," What makes you watch this show when everything that's shown goes against your beliefs."

Here. Im making it easy for you to understand the answer to your own question how come ppl blah blah bhah. The response is shown in underlined BLUE, and was made by another poster (Semanti) BEFORE you asked your question.

We have the right to watch any show we want to watch--thanks for being the moral police and deciding on these things. And about how we can stand to watch a show contrary to our beliefs---patriotism? love? culture? pride? beauty? protection? you mean these RR elements? those are, believe it or not, things that we pseudo feminist man-hating she-monsters believe in too.

But hell-- it can remain an unsolvable mystery for you.

But being adult women, we will watch RR, yes, even us "pseudo feminists" who hate seeing actions on screen that are borderline abusive, and then we will have the balls to comment on it. WE will do so peacefully, politely, and within a like-minded thread, we will discuss what we saw, and how it affected us. You are perfectly free to open your "SEXXXYY!! MOSTTT HOT!! SO HAWWTTT" post (which you have done) and hang out with your like minded peers as you revel in Rudra's smoldering male hotness and Paro's unbelievable kismet in being kidnapped and manhandled JUUSSTT right.

But don't jump in here, being all of 65 posts old, I might add, and attack people on other threads who are discussing an issue without resorting to the old "dekhna hai to dekho" line. Just so you know, ex IPKKND forum wasis (of which I am one) will tear you a new one for using this line--we have issues with it. And by the way---each post you have made here on this thread has been aggressive. That's not okay.

I'd say in response to your post, in your words--WWWOOOWWW.

You must have missed the line where I explicitly said that I watch it as fiction-- AND criticize it as such. 😊
I watch the show the same way I would watch a movie or read a book where I find some incidents distasteful, but the overall story compelling.

Also, the very thing that we were debating was not actual depiction-- it was how some of us didn't find it remotely romantic (as some others did). I'm sure you'll agree that everyone is entitled to their own interpretation? You may have found it romantic. I found it cringe-worthy.

U r right, self abuse is not the way to go.
Paro has a tendency to jump in the fire before thinking. She is very strong and brave person and also very emotional. Burning of her hand was a decision she made at the moment; She was upset with her conversation with Rudra.

You would think Rudra would realize by now, that don't challenge Paro.

You said it best. It was cringeworthy and yet one was unable to look away. I suppose credit to the actors. It was very dark, but I guess that was the intention.

baby i watch fiction to spend my free time. And i wouldn't want real life in it. I know its fiction and watch it.

I at this moment 100% understand WHY Rudra is doing it. I can understand where he is coming from. BUT I WILL NEVER EVER JUSTIFY an act of evil just cz i understand why a person does it. undersanding something and justifying something based on that understanding are extremely different things.

And lol.. u said "
if I felt as you feel about Rudra's mishandling of Paro then I wouldn't have been able to stand RR even for a day"

what I have to tell u is I AM NOT U! So pls do not expect the same behaviors from everyone else! The line of morality i draw is in not at 'not watching things against my beliefs' but 'raising my voice against things I see which are against my beliefs'

I believe a sin is committed when u see something bad and turn ur face away. u r as wrong as the perpetrator..

Yesterday Mohini realized what Rudra is doing - she gloatingly happily relished Paro being humiliated! She HATES Paro. And god knows we all know that woman is evil! She relished what Rudra did to her..
And when someone appreciated that, my feelings towards that person is also the same..

To quote what i wrote somewhere else about yesterday - "
the overwhelming pain, hatred, humiliation, disgust and helplessness and gloating, victory of each was palpable and left an acidic tinge in the mouth at the end of it.. The two actors were simply superb and i couldn't take my eyes off as I held my breath, feeling every emotion they were going through."

And what did u expect to see urself when u watched the 1st 2 promos? i signed up this is what i was going to see. And I am happy to see it as a source of entertainment. but criticize i will, each character when needed!

Napstermonster - yes, you are entirely correct. Applause for this post.
'Psuedo feminism, eh?" Really? After all the rapes, abuse and assaults on women right now - shaking my head at some people in the forum. What happened yesterday was bordering non-consensual physical touching and blurring the moral lines.

Yesterday's scene made me realize what brilliant actors Sanz and Ashish truly are. They wealth of expressions by both during the scene was hard to pull off.

Rudra was always meant to be dark and manipulative - and now i realize the "grey" the creatives wanted to make him dark, threatening - and he will do anything to achieve his ends. And he isn't hesitating to play mind games and emotionally cross the lines.

What makes this story the best on indian TV is precisely the fact that we are meant to hate the main lead for a time. We are all feeling Paro's pain precisely b/c as Ashish said in an interview, the characters are all grey except for Paro's. She is the unfortunate, strong, blameless innocent who is a pure amidst this world of greys.

it's a daring story. the show that must not be named was truly appalling for me b/c the male lead was portrayed to be heroic at all times, and physically abused the woman at all times. Rang Rasiya has no pretenses - he is a BSD major - he is grey - he is desperate, and he will try anything. But Paro is a Winner. She stands and fights - and there is such complexity to this tale.

The love story will only happen when Rudra eliminates his problems and casts his grey out. it's a story of agression, reform, and passion of the namesakes of Shiv-Shakti.

Did i hate Rudra yesterday? Yes - i was MEANT to, by the creatives, and i felt Paro's pain, disgust, and humiliation SO Vividly - i cried for my Paro bb - b/c yes, emotional manipulation is wrong and that is not 'pseudo feminism' - it's real feminism.

The show is so interesting in it's non-pretentious portrayal of a grey male lead and a pure female lead. And i signed up for the shock and harshness of the love story - so i'm ready.

We need Rudra to realize his mistakes.

Oh, and yes the BG was strange. Saiyaara and the battle of domination? 😕 That was eerie.

Marvelous post! 😳

What a brilliant post 👏 everything u said is spot on
After watching yesterday's RR epi i have more respect for Paro she is such a strong lady who never gives up and gosh how can Rudra force his strength on her it was very sad poor Paro the pain in her eyes when he was forcibly putting that mehendi in her hands and the disgust when he was trying to come near her very heartwrenching scenes yesterday.
I do feel sorry for Rudra too n i understand why he is doing it He is doing all this for his soldiers and his post but he does show that he cares for her when he was trying to soothe her burn but during the mehendi scene he showed his frustration n wanted to domninate thats why forced the mehendi in her hands.
Anyways Great job by Sanaya and Ashish yesterday kuddos to them

Um.. you see, the thing is there is nothing left to watch otherwise. There was a point when I stopped watching the-show-that-must-not-be-named because it did make me very angry. And then I realised that this is scattered all over TV. In one show the guy SLAPPED the girl he supposedly cared for in public. I checked the forum of the show, and everyone was like, oh but she left without telling him, of course he'd be angry.

This "of course" is something that I can't stand. All of this is fiction. No doubt there are people who do find such content appealing, and good for them. But if they believe in this fictional world too much, they would never distinguish between abuse and romance in real life. That is the scary part.

Is the solution to stop watching? No, I don't think so. I can very well use this as a platform to understand what NOT to do/tolerate. I get sacrifice. But sacrifice at the cost of what, exactly? But this theme runs in every show. We can hardly live in a media blackhole, right?

And that is why, it is important to know what's wrong. Keep watching, by all means. But just be aware that if this happens in real life, you should never tolerate it. The guy may have mommy issues and what not. But he does NOT have any right over my life. Nor any right to treat me badly because he has a bad past. So there.

Also, this has nothing to do with the label of a "feminist". This is basic human right. To demand dignity and respect. And if this ill treatment was happening to ANY man on any show, I would definitely speak against it, with 0 hesitance.
