NB...how do I put this?? Ok the issue a few weeks back was not Sanaya's clothes...it was Paro's outfit. Paro being a simple village girl, demure, modest, on the conservative side, traditional...she would not be wearing clothes that bare her midriff, show off her blouse and the whole of her back (and honestly I have seen plenty of Rajasthani and Gujarati village girls...trust me they don't wear such clothes)The complaints were that the clothes were not in keeping with Paro's character...nothing to do with Sanaya personally. Its not about Sanaya's figure, or anything personal, it was about Paro's dignity. A girl who cant bear a man looking at her bare upper arm revealed by a torn sleeve, wont be found dressed in such a way in public. It just felt out of character.
Now in Laila's case, the same clothes and dressing is perfect...reason...they go with her character. She is a professional dancer, a courtesan, and such women always wear glamorous, revealing outfits..its part of their presence. They are neither self conscious nor shy about their assets, if you have it flaunt it kinds...
When we look at Paro, the demure village belle and Laila, a professional dancer, obviously there is a vast gulf in their thinking, their life styles, their backgrounds and environment and the same should be reflected in their costumes. Today there are no complaints coz the dressing was in sync with Laila's persona...but imagine Paro wearing the same kind of clothes...and you will sense the lack of logic.
