Not only do Rudra and Othello resemble each other in their righteousness, their courage and bravery, the greatest thing that binds them are their own complexities, their insecurities. Othello is able to distrust Desdemona because he fundamentally insecure about himself. How can a girl like D love a dark moor like him?
In Rudra's case, he has imbibed his father's experience and therefore believes that not only is a disable bad tempered man unloved but that beautiful women are essentially untrustworthy. IInterestingly, Iago's slander on D's character leads Othello to kill her. Rudra is already living through the effects of such slander on his mother's name. What if Paro, at some time faces Khushi-Shyam like situation. (The very idea sends chills because somehow I feel Rudra might be even less forgiving than he who must not be named)Paro herself does not lack courage. Despite being in a bad situation she is standing upto Rudra. She has tried to run away. Will do so again, I think. Desdemona on the other hand was content to live vicariously. One of the most interesting scenes of the play was when she falls in love with Othello hearing about his tales of battle and adventure. Se does not (cannot) go there but she desires to. Paro on the other hand desires domesticity but is able to stand when she faces a tough situation. (I dont remember D taking a strong stand anywhere in the play. but then, i might be forgetting somethings).Till now, she has not given up. So Paro seems to be a stronger character than Desdemona. We still have to see more nuances in her characterization, but much as I love Rudra, I am waiting for Paro's character to unfold, layer by layer.Well, those were my two cents to this interesting discussion.
