Today's episode simmered along building up to the fierce blaze we can expect later this week. The tamped-down intensity was peppered with some rather rash promises made by Rudra, the Thakur, the Thakurain and Bhima to give us some very interesting moments, while driving the story onward.
Rash Promise #1 came at the end of the heated Rudra-Paro confrontation. Infuriated by Paro's stubborn refusal to sign the statement, Rudra tells her she has proved she is a woman, born with a woman's ability to walk away from her own without so much as looking back. Stung, Paro retorts that Rudra has proved that he is a BSD officer - an animal, murderer and merciless devil. Enraged by the insult, Rudra decides to give her a taste of his 'BSD-ness', and vows that she will not be given food until she confesses.
The question is will Rudra be able to keep his hasty promise? Since Paro will not sign a statement she thinks a lie, it fairly certain that the promise will soon fall by the wayside.
Rash Promise #2 was made by the Thakur to Mamisa. Unable to get out of the tight situation confronted by a distraught Mamisa (eaten by the guilt of spurning Paro in her hour of need) hysterically pleading for her niece, and fixed by his wife's accusing gaze, the Thakur has no other option than to graciously promise that he will rescue Paro from the clutches of the BSD and restore her to Mamisa, albeit in Jaipur.
Of course, the Thakur has no intention of keeping that promise. He confesses as much when he sends his minions scurrying to kill Paro asap. But will he still end up keeping it?
Rash Promise #3 was given by the Thakurain to Mamisa. All smiles now that she's elicited a promise from her husband, the Thakurain reassures Mamisa: "You watch, Paro will be with us soon."
Even though the Thakur means to silence Paro and perhaps Mamisa as well, the Thakurain's promise may well come true, in that Paro may be restored to her, if not Mamisa.
Rash Promise #4 was made by Rudra to Laila. At last giving in to the demands of his body (this came suspiciously soon after watching Paro glug down a glass of water😳😃), Rudra decides to slake his thirst at Laila's. There, refusing any Band-Aid or Dettol for his wounded flesh, or psycho-babble about frisson-inducing compliments and his need to torment beautiful captives for his soul, he promises Laila a night of pleasure!
There's a saying for such times: the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak! 😆 However, in Rudra's case...only Rudra and Laila will ever know. But seeing him totter off his bike in the morning... let's just say that it wasn't a restful night.😉
Rash Promise #5 was Thakursa's loyal Bhima assuring his master that he has found the absolutely best assassin in the world and let him loose on Paro. The magician will leave no trace whatsoever after the kill.
Right, we already know the outcome of this promise. 😛
Wherever we looked today, somebody was trying to play God. But they forget that man proposes, but God disposes. And by the end of this week quite a few certainties will be overturned.
A good 'holding' episode today, with nuggets of information thrown in by the CVs. Today we learnt that:
# The Thakurain had gone to the Thakur years ago because she trusted him!!
# That the Thakurain must not yet learn Rudra's full name...probably because she may recognise it.
# That Mamisa is being relocated to Jaipur (read being killed).
# That the would-be assassin will get away scot-free, but his body may turn up later.
# That Laila knows about Paro, and is already jealous.
# That when Rudra can't have Paro he will seek out Laila...for now.
# That after this slip, Rudra will be an extremely diligent bodyguard.
# That Paro is made of stern stuff, and is quite capable of giving back as good as she gets.
Feel free to add to the list.
Acting continues to be above par. Ashish, Sanaya and Tarun turned in flawless performances, as usual adding layers to their roles. The Thakur-Thakurain scenes were a revelation for showing us the two faces of the Thakur. Sadia was very believable as the Thakurain, totally trusting and in love with her husband. Mamisa's floods of tears were irritating but believable. Ankita played the insecure-mistress-in-her-boudoir to a 'T' - although am a little surprised by the boudoir's decor. I find it interesting that the CVs make us sympathise with Ankita for the moment.
I'm clearly a sucker for the drama, and can't wait for tomorrow's assassination attempt, and everything that follows. 😆
P.S. Not in my element today as running on very little sleep, hence the non-creative approach. 😊
