Hi Zahara, so forum walon did not scare you off! 😃 Nice take, though i am not a fan of Othello. Hopefully they will not adapt the tragic end.. So far I am loving Barney sa (I mean Thakur) as the villain, but I don't want him to be like Iago, who create MU between the couple. I say let him battle with the guy, not the guy's bond with the girl.

Laila intrigued me yesterday. How paro gets to know that she's Rudra's lover and How will Laila react when Paro comes in her way --- would be interesting!

Do make more posts - love to read them!

Haha no no, the forum still scares me but I'm taking baby steps ;D

Thakur won't create MU between the couple as maybe Rudra takes her away after the shoot-out but he's Iago in the sense that he tries creating MU's between the BSD & the people.

Laila is definetely interesting! I'm glad she isn't just seen as Rudra's mistress but maybe a companion to Paro as well.

Haha, those that know me know I'm usually lazy to make forum posts all the time =P

Actually, after reading some spoilers today I think you may be right. If Paro signs any papers -- even if under duress -- that Takur is the culprit (gun-runner), then it totally sets the stage for takur unleashing an Iago-like sequence of horrors on them.

I had thought takur will be an outright adversary of Rudra...so an Iago-like connection seemed hard to establish, but now the possibilities are intriguing. Takur is such a snake! Sends a shiver down my spine..

I haven't read any spoilers yet! What were they about? 😳
Rudra like the writers have said has been inspired by the character Othello, and even though the other characters (and the story) hasn't, I still think the Thakur has some sense of Iago in him by the way he does wrong to gain things; like killing poor bindi! :(

Nice comparison :))

Hey! I saw you in the QH forum right? 😳

I loved studying Othello! And you're right about back stabbing his people but only difference is here Rudra knows everything about what Thakur is doing and isn't being manipulated like Iago manipulated Othello :]

Your post makes that want into a need.

Into Othello I go!

Haha, you will need a lot of patience for Othello! The themes of the play is brilliant especially how a black man can rise from nothing to such a high place in society! The ending will get you down but I guess that's just Shakespeare for you! :P

Let me know what you think :)

Parud will definetely be the end-game but for their future to open, their pasts need to end or come to a climax which is Laila-Rudra & Paro-Varun.

Thanks for a deliciously long post on Othello/RR comparison. I agree that there is little direct and linear resemblance between the storyline and plot, but there definitely is a sort of shadow of Othello's tragedy over it. The innocence and naivet of Paro (Desdemona), the reluctant, perhaps half-hearted complicity of Laila (Emilia) in future plots, the cunning evil of Thakur Tejavat (Iago), the insecurity driven dumb-headedness of Rudra...all scream of heavy influence of the play.
But going by the pre-show interviews, they have admitted to only the character of Rudr being inspired by Othello. Let's see how things unfold.

It's fine! :] Haha long? It was going to be even longer but I know people won't read too long posts :P

What I like is that both Paro-Rudra's childhood was a tragedy and that's what shaped them as they grew older. Like you said only Rudra has been inspired by Othello directly, hence why other characters only have essences of other characters or a group of characters.

I like what you said about Paro and Laila and the influence it plays between Othello and Rangrasiya. Though Emilia didn't like Othello sexually or anything, she did unknowingly help create misunderstandings between Desdemona & Othello, whilst in RR - Laila is involved with Rudra & there's a possibility of her turning negative.

And Laila to be Iago...

Guess I was hallucinating...🤔😆

I get where you're coming from as Barbantio is Desdemona's father and the Thakur is like a father to Paro but the only thing Barbantio wants is Othello and Desdemona to separate [though he doesn't really do anything] whilst Iago is the one to do something - hence why Thakur is more like Iago because he actually does things that puts BSD against the people and vice versa.

Laila as Iago? Interesting idea but right now, she's more like Emilia. She isn't negative because what is there to be negative about? She likes Rudra but PaRud aren't together now, so in her eyes there isn't anything there for her to turn like Iago - if that makes sense? She's more like Emilia, someone who Paro would possibly get close to (which, just got this thought, after Bindi died Paro would need a close friend and maybe it's Laila who becomes that friend?) - of course when Parud do get together, Laila might turn negative :(
