CHAPTER 12

Tuckered up he was standing there You are here. Could'nt you inform anyone before doing such reckless thing ?. moving towards her and holding at her shoulders.

Wh..what? There was no one at home, I was feeling home sick..

And so you ended up here without any one's knowledge. God you are on medications. And without having any of them you just left the house? How could you? He spoke through the gritted teeth. He was angry now after not finding her anywhere in the house for more than which seemed like long time for him, his grip turned tighter .

Stop it!!! Why are you losing your mind at me, Look you ,you are my husband for others but that gives you no right to yell at me like that. Trying to propel his hands away but he was way too strong for her. His fingers digging in her skin. You are hurting me..she whined in pain with moist eyes.

It comprehended him and the reflexes caused the grip to loosen. Her arms went numb for a while and a red mark appeared on it which was fading away slowly but not lessening the pain. Oh I am sorry. But why you did not inform me? Weighing each and every word taking care that it insinuated only the needed. I am sorry. He moved back with a safe distance .

She started following him to the car that was signed by his gestures. Starving since afternoon and upon that no ounce of medicines made her feel giddy. She could not keep up to his pace that was taken care by Shantanu. Her vision started blurring and the whole world around her started spinning, thousands of pins pricking her head. Sweat rolling down her forehead. Her legs were not supporting her causing her balance to lose.

Oh shit!! Khanak . SHIT...DAMN!!! Shantanu tried to wake her up by stroking her cheeks and rubbing the back of her hand but all in vein. Without thinking twice he lifted her in his arms like a sack of feathers in a matter of second, feeling her brisk body against his well built hands. And paced with fast speed to his car. He opened the door of passenger's seat and placed her as gently as he could. With his right hands index finger he tucked one of the flicks. He felt helpless with nobody around. His eyes fell on the bottle with less water in it. He sprinkled it on her face to bring her back to consciousness. After much of trying she came to senses and saw him there with her. Hey are you fine now?

Yeah. I am..ah..she nodded.

Why cant you listen to me or Mom for that matter? Look what have you done to yourself .What if I was not here with you? You dint even have your medicines .Harilal told. You are leaving no stone unturned to get yourself killed.

So what ? How does it matter to you?

How does it matter to me? For god sake.. you are my wife now He yelled My responsibility .Even if you don't admit it that's the truth that people know and we have to follow it for them He hollered indignation clearly seen in his eyes.

She kept quite without any argument with him to avoid his further frenzy. And Shantanu drove her home.

In the porch

He got down and pounded to her side to open the door which she was already trying to open but was unsuccessful due to missing energy. After opening she stretched her left leg to touch the ground and felt an ache Ah..Ouch.. and held Shantanu's upper arm to take support to balance herself. His immediate response made him hold her by her shoulders. He helped her walk to their room, who were followed by Madhavi,Sunil and Khushboo to their room. Madhavi with a concerned tone
Where have you been Bahu? Could not you leave a message with someone.

Ma I had told Harilal about it.

Yes Beta but then we were out and Shan was not informed by him. Actually he forgot. And by the time I get to know about it he had already left to look for you.

Hmmmpp. .Madhavi sighed with fake anger and sat next to her on bed.

Khanak could not see him anywhere in the room.

Beta take these now. Madhavi handed the medicines which Shantanu got for her with a glass of water. Madhavi continued with a motherly tone. You must be tired now after all the exertion you caused yourself . you need a rest. Said Shantanu going out of the room closing door behind him.

I will see you at dinner. Madhavi touched her cheek and took Khushboo along with her.

The medicines dint take long to lug her to sleep after the long day she had.

In the living room

All assembled in the room where Khanak was absent as ordered by Madhavi who was well aware of the tension. As she dint want her to be a part of the stress the family was going through in her delicate health condition.

Looking at Sunil it was very obvious that there was a very serious issue coming up. Madhavi sat next to Sunil followed by Akshay ,Khushboo and Shantanu.

I have a really important announcement to make. The business is facing a satirical complication and I..want.. to tell you that we will have to work it again. Convalescence seen on his face witnessed by Madhavi. Mr. Paul who supported me, due to some issues has decided to part away and I want to start from the scratch ...His awful face was a proof to the situation's seriousness. All kept quite showing unseen accession and faith in his words. After much of thinking I have come to a conclusion that I will stay here and look after all the necessities here, Akshay will help me in doing that. And Shan I want you to take care of the business that's already set up in London. Will you do that much for me? looking at his younger son with aspiration. Madhavi had sensed it but never expected it to be that serious. But she dint interfere in the subject at that instant. No one else raised a question as the situation was already clear in the conference room.

Sunil had one of the businesses in London that he took care of by visiting the place once every month. And his sons looked after the business here.

As an obedient son he accepted it Of course Dad you don't need to ask me. You just have to order me. I promise you I will handle it the way you did. And not give you a chance of complain.

Akshay gave his dad an assured smile that was enough for Sunil to believe in his capability.

All left except for Sunil and Madhavi. Sunil you believe Shan's capability. Right? So don't worry I am completely sure he will take well care of it. And I can trust you with closed eyes. She placed an encouraging hand on his shoulder. I am sure you can establish a new business with an ease and especially when you have Akshay with you, its second helping hand.

Madhavi you think I doubt my son's potentials? No. its not that he tried to explain her. Khanak, that poor thing, You think it was not hard for her to swallow that mishap!!! And now staying away from Shan, her husband? I don't think that's right. I feel helpless for her.

Sunil who said that she cant go with Shan?

But leaving Mumbai and her parents and we cant over look the fact that this is the place she has memories with Saaket..

Oh ho ,,Sunil they are not going there forever. Its just a matter of 1-2 yrs. You think I would have let you send my son there forever. And in fact its better they are going out of Mumbai, may be this will help her forget Saaket and start a new life.

CHAPTER 13

15^th Feb

In room

All were quiet at the dining table. They would speak only if really needed as instructed by Madhavi. She wanted to speak to Khanak alone because she knew convincing her to go to London was a bit difficult task.

After all the household cores Madhavi came to Khanak's room when she was alone and Shantanu dint enter on Madhavi's saying. Bahu May I come in?

Of course Ma you don't need to ask.

Beta I just came to tell you that you and Shantanu are flying London tomorrow for two years. See its an emergency otherwise I would not have asked you to do it looking at her to anticipate her reaction.

London? But why? I mean what emergency? She frowned.

Business is facing problems and its Sunil's decision. Its his word that you two can stay separate but if you want I can ask him to cancel it. And started to go towards the door.

No!!. I mean If Papa has asked to do this, there must be some really significant reason with a pale face. It's ok Ma we will go.

Madhavi stopped in her way ,came back to her and placed a peck on Khanak's forehead holding her face. Thankyou Beta..I will send Khushboo in to do your help in packing.

While Madhavi was going out Khushboo entered and they both exchanged a hidden smile as if it was a planned game. Madhavi was very happy to not to experience a scene from Khanak's side.

Khanak you know what!! London is best place for newlyweds placing the cloths one by one in the suitcase. Throwing a glance at Khanak sitting on bed lost in her own thoughts. Arent you excited ? Enthusiasm visible on her face.

Ummm? ..ye..ah..Khanak managed to speak coming out from her reverie. And move towards her cupboard to select the cloths to be carried and placed them on the bed near the case.

Khushboo screamed that scared Khanak What are these?

Night dress? It's so covered. I mean its not at all revealing. My god you have got such an amazing body, why don't you flaunt it? Now I will pack your bag and you don't interfere.

But Bhabi I never use such cloths.

C'mon Khanak that's London. No one wears a Saree there.

Both Sharmas and Agrawals were informed about it and acceptance was received from both. Khanak being daughter in law to Khandelwals ,Saakets parents could not raise a question. And Ragini thought that a complete change of surrounding might help her daughter obliterate old memories.

Whole packing was done and the flight was at 2 am in the morning on 16^th feb.

The flight journey was of around 9 hrs. All were coming to see off them to the airport along with Sharmas and Agrawals. All left for airport at 12 mid night on 16^th. Khanak was wearing a light yellow colored suit and a chiffon stole on it. Shantanu wore a blue jeans with white shirt. They already had a flat in London so there was no need of carrying much of cloths for him. They had 3 suitcases and a handbag that she carried with her.

Three cars came into the drive way one following the other, black Honda city and then was Maruti SX4. All got down by the time they reached there it was already 12:30 am and they had to go through the custom check up. Madhavi became emotional to see her son going out of India for around 2 years. Shan take care of yourself and now you are not alone you have Khanak's responsibility on you. Never ever make her feel low. She said with tears in eyes.

Yes Mom. Now don't cry please. I am not going to be there forever. Now c'mon give me a hug. Shantanu hugged Madhavi. Mom you too take care.

Madhavi hugged Khanak tightly. Take care.

All said bye to each other. And Shantanu and Khanak left for the customary checking. There was no exchange of talks till they sat on their seats. They had two seats next to each other out of which one was a window seat. Khanak sat there and he sat next to her. The remaining seat was occupied by an old lady may be in her sixties.

Hi son may I know the seat number ?is it 30C? She was alone travelling who asked Shantanu to check her ticket once throwing a glimpse at Khanak.

Thanks. She sat with a bright smile. Again giving a fleeting look at Khanak

I have a business there Going for Same. He was losing patience now because he needed a silent journey always which he missed at the moment.

This conversation took place for around more than an hour and Shantanu was getting very irritated in ladies talks and so thought he can visit washroom till then. By that time ladies were having their great conversation. Khanak felt lively for the first time after so many days. After returning back he noticed that she had taken his seat so he took the window seat. (Thankgod!!) He let the females be and was reading a Maxine 'Business today' that was his favorite. After almost 2 hrs he marked that these two were talking as though two childhood best friends are meeting after 25 yrs who actually got to know each other today. It was annoying him but just for one thing he dint mind meeting such people and that was her. He saw her smiling for the first time, listened to her sweet giggle after so many years it seemed.

6 am

Hello sir!! A tall young air hostess with fair complexion came and stood next to him. Would you like to order anything for drink Sir?

One black coffee .No sugar .

And anything for you ma'am ? looking at Khanak who just opened her eye may be due to the high pitched announcement.

Choco Mocha with white chocolate.

Thankyou for your order ma'am. She left with order of two people as the third lady was still deep sleeping. (This amount of exertion will obviously tire her ) he thought.

They had their breakfast at around 9am.Time past by and finally they reached the outskirts of London. The final announcement was made after reaching Heathrow airport. The old lady did not leave the couple till she found a cab, not to forget to mention that even Khanak liked her company.
