me back !!

Hi everyone, thanks for the comments and I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far. I've updated and it's super long. Please let me know what you think. :)

Part 20

Shaan turned over to his side and groaned. The pounding in head was unbearable. Why the hell had he drank so much? The answer came quickly...Khanak. And what was that chomping sound he heard. It was so loud, he thought to himself. Groaning again, he opened one eye and then the other. There sat Khanak, cross-legged next to him on his bed biting into an apple.

He closed his eyes and turned away from her. "Get out Khanak," he said softly. "Good morning sleepy head" she said cheerfully. "Must you screech into my ear?" Shaan asked grinding his teeth. "Oh sorry, good morning baby." "How are you feeling?" Khanak asked in a half whisper. "How do you think I'm feeling?" he snapped. "Not so good?" she said sympathetically. "No, not so good. I feel like I just had a semi steam roll over my head." "Last time I checked, that was not so good!" "Oh my poor baby" she said cooing at him. "I am not your baby. Now can you please get out and let me die in peace."

"Sure but then this advil and coffee will go with me." she taunted. Shaan looked back at her wincing from the throbbing in his head. Even glaring at her hurt. He slowly sat up and leaned against the headboard. Khanak held out 2 advils and a glass of water. Then passed him the cup of coffee. He took everything scowling at her. "Coffee helps, believe me coffee definitely helps. she said "You would know." he said sarcastically. "You've been in my position numerous times." "You know what Shaan your rude comments have no effect on me today, because today I am very very happy."

"Aren't you going to ask why I'm happy?" "Nope, don't care. I'm not in the mood for your drama right now. See that doorknob he said pointing at his door...use it." With that he started to lay back down. "No No, Shaan I want you sitting up for this ." "First I wasn't going to say anything, but now I've decided what the hell. What's there to hide." "Might as well tell you." "Khanak, I swear if you don't shut up I'm going to..." I love you" she said giving him a lopsided smile. "You look so cute when you try to scare me. Too bad it has no effect on me" she said cheerfully. "But good try." "Next time you try to threaten me maybe scowl a little more dangerously. That might scare me...oh who am I kidding." "That's not going to scare me either." Khanak said giggling to herself. Shaan stared at her like she'd lost her mind.

"Anyways back to what I was saying before you so rudely interrupted me." "Khanak," Shaan warned his face turning red with anger. "Calm down Shaan, so much anger isn't good for your blood pressure." " If you don't learn to control your anger now, what are you going to do when we have kids?" "I can already tell you our kids are going to be very mischievous." "Do you know how I know this? Well I'll tell you." "My mom says I was the most mischievous child in the neighborhood." "Didn't listen to anyone. I used to beat up the the other kids." Khanak smiled and shook her head as if she was remembering a fond memory. "Were you a naughty child Shaan?" she asked turning towards him and then answering her own question. "Ofcourse you were, look at how naughty you still are?" she said winking at him. "But usually only with me..." "WILL YOU PLEASE SHUT UP Khanak!" Shaan yelled and then grabbed his head groaning in pain.

She was trying to kill him he thought. Khanak stared at him with a big smile on her face, but as he looked back at her she quickly changed it to a pout. "Shaan, I don't understand you. You want me to whisper but you yourself are yelling." Shaan glared back at her. "Anyways what was I saying, oh yes so I've been doing some serious thinking and I don't think we should tell anyone we broke up yet." "Why?" he asked suspiciously. "Well because in a week or two we're going to have to tell everyone we're back together." "Honestly it's just so tedious." "I don't want to be labelled as one of those on again, off again couples." she said rolling her eyes. "We're not getting back together again Khanak." Khanak, looked at him and burst out laughing like he'd said the funniest thing. "Shaan," she said shaking her head. "You're so funny..ofcourse we're going to get back together again." "You're angry, and you have every right to be angry. But I'm going to win you back. I'll prove to you that I'm worthy of your love." Coming closer she kneeled down beside him touching his face. Even as he pulled away. "I know you don't like me very much right now," she said softly. But one day I know the love you felt for me, and I think deep down still feel for me, It'll return and we'll be happy again. "

"But you take your time." she said extra cheerfully. "But not too much time." Shaan just stared at her. "You're delusional Khanak" he said in a disgusted voice. Khanak just gave him a big smile. "You rest now. I'll come see you in alittle bit. " "Don't bother." he said. "No bother at all." she answered sweetly. "GET OUT" he yelled again not being able to help himself. Khanak ran out of the room giggling.

Shaan heard laughter as he walked down the stairs. He could see the tops of Khanak and Rashi's heads close together as they laughed about something. Khanak would have fit in perfectly with his family he thought ruefully seeing how close Rashi and her already were. Khanak looked up laughing and caught Shaan staring at her. She gave him a big smile. Shaan scowled back at her. Sighing Khanak turned back to Rashi, saying something to her and then the both of them looked at him and burst out laughing. Shaan stormed down the stairs, ignoring them both. He heard another peal of laughter and he couldn't stop himself from demanding what's so funny. "Nothing." Khanak said biting her lip from laughing. "Well something must be pretty funny if you're laughing like that." he demanded again. "Okay you want to know." Khanak said. Looking at Rashi she told her to stand up. And then the two of them started imitating him from last night. With Khanak being Shaan and Rashi being Khanak. Khanak was pretending to fall over everything, completely over exaggerating his drunkenness from the previous night. She would throw her arms around Rashi and kiss her cheek. Then pretend to hold a bottle and take a swig wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. And then she started to sing

Barsaat ke mausam main
tanhai ke aalam main 2
main ghar sey nikal aaya
botal bhi utha laaya
abhi zinda hoon to jee leney jee leney do
bhari barsaat main pee leney do
Movie: Nayayaz

Then Khanak grabbed Rashi aka Khanak and hugged her tightly. Hiccuping and slurring as she fell here and there. The two of them were laughing so hard they were doubled over holding their stomachs.

But there was one person who wasn't laughing. Shaan stared at Khanak, he was furious. How dare she make a joke out of him. He was going to teach her a lesson today that she'd never forget. He'd see who was laughing then. Khanak couldn't catch her breath. She knew Shaan was mad, but it had been so funny to see a drunk Shaan last night. Shaan who was always so in control of himself. So smooth, so cool and collected. He'd been a cute drunk though. As she looked up at Shaan's furious face her laughter died down a bit. " Rashi, mom called earlier she wanted to talk to you about something , she asked for you to call her back right away." he said, his eyes never leaving Khanak's. "Oh no that's the second time today that I've missed her call." Rashi said as she hurried upstairs to her room.

"Now what was it that I was doing Khanak," Shaan asked stalking towards her. "Nothing" Khanak said walking backwards away from him. "No, no, please tell me more about my drunkenness and then we can talk about your drunken escapades. " "You know, like when you force me to trespass to go swimming in someone's backyard and then throw yourself at me." Khanak, was getting worried now, that look in Shaan's eyes was quite dangerous. "I didn't throw myself at you." she stammered. "Memories..funny thing about them. We all remember them differently." "Like I don't remember breaking into song last night, when I was drunk." "Oh I just threw that in for fun, it made it the scenario even more hilarious." She said giggling Seeing Shaan's face she didn't think he thought it was funny...you didn't like my singing." she questioned. Shaan just shook his head..."nope." "Oh well, it was all in good fun. I think I'll just go call my mom too." she said turning around and taking a few quick steps to the stairs

Shaan had an evil smile on his face.. Now this was going to be fun, he thought as he saw her reaching the stairs. He caught her just as she took another step. "Shaan let me go" she screeched. "Come on Shaan please let me go." He grabbed her and picked her up throwing her over his shoulder like she was a sack of wheat. "Shaan" she screamed. "Put me down." he determinedly walked up the stairs with Khanak yelling into his ear. Rashi opened her door to see what all the commotion was about and was surprised to see Khanak being carried by her brother. Seeing Rashi, Khanak screamed.."Rashi help me". Rashi giggled..these 2 were so funny she thought. She waved and went back into her room. "RASHI!" Khanak did not have a good feeling about what was about to happen.

Shaan walked determinedly into his bedroom slamming the door behind him and kept walking until he reached his bathroom. Khanak was panicking now. "No, no Shaan" she said as she saw where he was headed. She tried to grab on to the door jamb but he easily retched her hands away from it. "I know how you find humor in everything" he said as he held her with one arm used the other hand to turn on his shower. "Let me know if you find this humorous."

With that he placed her in the water, holding her under the shower as she sputtered and fought him. Then suddenly Khanak stared coughing and gasping for breath. Shaan stared at her suspiciously but then his eyes widened seeing Khanak wheezing. He reached for her as she moved out of his reach still gasping. He took a step into the tub to get closer to her when suddenly she turned around and pulled him in fully. Staring up at him, her eyes twinkling, a smirk on her face. The shower beating down on the two of them. "You're right Shaan" she said "I do find this humorous, infact very humorous." Smiling she was about to turn around to get out of the tub when suddenly he jerked her back towards him. She crashed against his chest. Looking up at him with a surprised expression. His eyes had turned to liquid chocolate. And the way he was looking at her made every part of her tingle.

"What's your rush Khanak?" he said in his sexy husky voice. "Now that you have me in here, you don't think I'm going to let you go so quickly, do you?" Cupping her face he brought his lips down onto hers, kissing her softly until she moaned wanting more and then he pushed her against the tiled wall and gave her a kiss that was so sizzling hot she felt it her toes. She kissed him back and ran her hands through her hair and down to his shoulders pulling him closer. Shaan pushed her off the shoulder t-shirt down even further as he kissed her shoulder groaning and coming back to her ear and biting it making Khanak groan. They didn't feel the water turning from hot to cold because they were both on fire. She wanted him so much but when she felt his hands slip under her shirt she pulled away. " No, " she said breathlessly. The words took a few seconds to register and lift his passion filled haze. "No?" he questioned. "No Shaan." as she leaned her head against his chest. "No" he thought and then he pushed away from Khanak, turning off the water. He stepped out of the tub and grabbed a towel. Khanak stepped out slower picking up a towel herself. Glancing back he groaned inwardly. She was wet, and so damn sexy. Her shirt molded to her body.

He ran his hand through his hair, How was it that even when he hated her, he couldn't keep his hands off of her. The answer came to him quickly. It's because you don't hate her, you still love her. Shaan pushed that thought out of his head. Instead taking comfort in his anger. That was a safer emotion. He turned cold eyes on Khanak. "I know what you're thinking, and let me tell you, this means nothing, changes nothing". "This is lust, nothing more and nothing less." "I am in lust with you, so don't start getting any stupid ideas in your head that I'm in love with you." "Been there done that and it was one of the biggest mistakes of my life." Khanak said nothing just looked at him with sad eyes. "Don't look at me like that Khanak he said angrily, it's not going to have any effect on me." With that he walked out of the room. Khanak, leaned against the wall and closed her eyes. She knew it was going to be hard, that was a given. But seeing the pain in Shaan's eyes just killed her. "I'm so sorry I hurt you so much Shaan, I'm so sorry" she whispered.

The next day as usual, Shaan was the first in the office. He was engrossed in a new contract when he heard a knock on the door. "Come in" he said in a distracted voice. "Good morning" Khanak said cheerfully as she breezed into his office. "I brought you coffee" she said placing it on his desk. Shaan looked at her and then at the coffee cup and frowned. "I'm busy" he snapped looking back down at his work. "Alrighty then, I just wanted to remind you that tonight is Radha and Rick's sangeet." "Khanak, are you wanting to become my assistant?" he questioned. "Hell no," she said making a face. "Well then I don't need you to bring me coffee or remind me of anything, especially anything to do with my family and friends." "Well you needed a reminder for Rashi's birthday." she mumbled. "What was that?" Shaan asked angrily. "Nothing." she replied back sweetly. "Boy someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed." she murmured to herself rolling her eyes. Watching her, Shaan took a deep breath, and threw his pencil on to the table. She was the most infuriating and irritating woman he had ever had the displeasure to meet! "Are you done talking to yourself, because if you are, then would you please mind telling me why you are here?" he asked his eyes flashing with anger.

"Shaan," she said sweetly. Walking around to him and perching on the edge of his desk, she leaned down so that they were face to face. "I just wanted to come by..."she said in a breathless voice moving closer to him. Shaan's eyes were starting to widen. "and tell you..."she.moved closer so their lips were just inches apart and then she looked into his eyes, they were turning dark, Khanak bit her bottom lip I wanted to tell you, Shaan felt his mouth go dry "that I"m wearing a black sari tonight so make sure you wear something that matches. I think it's nice when couples match." She quickly moved away from the desk and tossed a flying kiss at him. "I love you, have a great day baby." Then she was gone. Shaan sat there dazed, what the hell just happened. She was trying to slowly drive him crazy he thought, crazy with need. He forced himself to turn back to his work even though he kept picturing those velvety soft lips and what they felt like when he kissed them over and over again.

Khanak, left Shaan's office feeling breathless, and then she smiled. That was fun, you haven't seen anything yet Shaan, wait until you see whatelse I have in store for you. "Lily," Khanak called walked up to Shaan's assistant. "Can you do me a favour and tell me what Shaan's schedule is for the next couple of days I need to book some of his time." Khanak was planning a little surprise for Shaan but first she needed to get him away from work. "Maam, he's extremely busy." "He's in meetings for most of today and then back to back meetings tomorrow morning and then in the afternoon he leaves for Singapore." "Singapore!" Khanaka screeched. "I mean Singapore, why is he going there?" "Sir has a series of meetings with various clients and he's meeting someone regarding the Empress Hotel project as well." "Oh is he" Khanak thought to herself. "How long is he going for?" I"ncluding tomorrow it'll be 4 days maam." "Interesting," Khanak thought, pondering this newest turn of events. "Lily, please book my ticket for Singapore with Shaan." Lily gave her a surprised look. "Okay maam," she responded hesitantly. "And Lily don't mention this to Shaan." "I want to surprise him" Singapore, Just her and Shaan, 4 days and 4 nights. This was too perfect. This couldn't have worked out better. God was on her side she thought gleefully. Lily was looking at her a little confused. Khanak maam, looked like she was going to start dancing. Khanak turned to Lily thanking her. Lily just shook her head, these foreign girls could be very odd sometimes she thought to herself.

Shaan was late getting home. He had a ton of things to wrap up before he left for Singapore. "Bhai, you're late again" Rashi said stating the obvious. "Are you coming too?" he asked as he climbed the stairs two at a time, "Yup, bhabhi convinced me to come. It better be fun" she threatened. "I have an idea why don't you both stay home." he snapped from the top of the stairs. Mumbling about spoiled girls and Khanak he rounded the corner to his bedroom and collided with a rushing Khanak who was coming out of her own room. He caught her just as she was about to fall. A sense of deja vu spread over him. Reminding him of the time in Chandigarh they had collided and sparks had flown even then. That felt like a lifetime ago. She looked like a sexy siren today with her black sari with red beading and red thread work. The blouse was extremely low cut with red beading around the neck. Her hair was in soft curls falling down her back. Her parted red lips and smoky eyes, made him want to carry her back to his room so that they could finish what they started in his bathroom yesterday.

Khanak cleared her throat bringing Shaan back to his senses. Straightening she asked "how do I look?" "Hot" came out before he could stop himself. "I mean it's hot in here, I'm going to go take a shower." A cold one, he thought clearing his throat, and stalking past her. Khanak smiled after him. He was such a bad liar she thought happily.

The drive to the venue was full of Khanak and Rashi's chatter and laughter. Shaan just grunted a few times in answer to Khanak's questions. He was so surly she thought frowning at him. They walked into the hotel and found their set of friends. The next little while was spent catching up with everyone. "Bhabhi," Rashi said pulling at her sari. "It is so stuffy in here." "What's up with the AC?' It was pretty warm, Khanak thought looking around. People looked very uncomfortable. And the food looked untouched whereas the bar was packed. People were waving napkins infront of their faces trying to provide some relief.

As the evening progressed the room temperature just got worse. Radha rushed over almost in tears. "Something is wrong with the AC, we've been trying to get management to take care of it but they're having problems getting someone in at this time." "Out party sucks." she cried. "No one is eating or dancing, people are starting to leave." "This is not how I imagined my sangeet would turn out." Khanak, tired to comfort her and tell her that it wasn't so bad,...which was a compete lie. She handed Radha over to another friend and went to go grab Radha a glass of water, They needed to figure something out to bring the life back into this party. As she passed by a window she was surprised to see rain, it was a little drizzle but it was still rain. She walked further opening the doors which led to quite a large covered patio with steps leading to a lawn. The rain could do wonders to cool everyone off. It was still hot outside but it was definitely better then it was inside. This could work, she thought to herself. It could certainty work. She walked back to Radha pulling her aside. First Radha was hesitant but as she listened to Khanak and caught on to her excitement, she agreed that it could work. The two of them rushed to the DJ, who gave them a thumbs up. Radha pulled Rick aside explaining what would happen.

First Shaan didn't notice the shift in the vibe in the hotel, he was too busy concentrating on how bloody hot it was in the place. But then he saw Khanak whiz by, and then Radha, and then Khanak and Radha, seeing her moving around, a little whirlwind of activity was making him dizzy. She was definitely excited about something. Then as Radha and Rick moved to the stage, and Rick grabbed the mike he found out what the excitement was all about. "Thanks everyone for coming out tonight to celebrate with us and for staying even though it feels like a sauna in this place." "We have no AC as you probably have already guessed. " "But now to offer some relief, we are moving the party outdoors. thanks to the brilliant suggestion of the oh so lovely Miss. Khanak Ahluwalia." "Yes, it's drizzling but there is a covered deck." "The DJ has set up so their will be some pumping music, so come on everyone let's get this party started." Everyone cheered as they starting moving outside. Shaan looked at Khanak, ofcourse she had been behind this.

Once outside if was still hot but atleast it was bearable and the rain was definitely making a positive difference. People seemed happier, they were eating and laughing now. Some were even dancing. Shaan saw Khanak talking to the DJ and the DJ was smiling and nodding his head. Then giving her a thumbs up side. Khanak was practically giddy he thought looking at her suspiciously

Khanak was so happy, Radha and Rick's party was a success and they were out of that stifling room. And then her ears perked up...Oh my god this is my song she screamed to Rashi, dragging her off the patio and into the rain, a few other people followed and by the end of the song almost everyone was out dancing in the rain.

Jugni Movie: Tanu wed Manu

Shaan watched her dancing around him, taunting him with the words, and then she practically hip checked him. For 125 lb woman she was damn strong the irony of her doing it at the part of the song where they talk about her fighting guys was not lost on him. She'd been fighting with him from the moment they had met.
Eh taan badi patakha (badi patakha)
Eh ladh di ae na darrdi phad ke daang mure kadh di ae (chak de)

As the evening progressed she danced and giggled with his friends. she was so comfortable with them. That used to make him happy, but not now. Because the closer she got to them now ,the more excuses and explanations he would have to give to them later. It made him mad that she put him in this position. She was duping them, just like she duped him. He fell in love with her and now all he was left with was pain and anger. That's all he had to show for it. Sometimes he felt consumed by those emotions because instead of hating her, he hated himself for having trusted her and loving her still.

He watched her walk inside, squeezing water from the end of her sari palu. He knew he shouldn't go after her. Nothing good would come out of it. But he still went. Khanak, opened the door to the women's restroom and walked in, she started fixing her sari palu when she heard the door open and then softly click shut. She didn't look up. "Well, isn't this a pretty sight" she heard Shaan drawl. She looked at him with shock and quickly flung her unraveled palu over her shoulder trying to cover herself up. "What are you doing here?" Shaan she stammered at him. Shaan had been shocked to see her half dressed. But since she hadn't looked up he was able to calm himself down quickly. "I could ask you the same question." he said, "I came to fix my sari." "No, I'm asking what are you doing at this sangeet?" "These aren't your friends. This is my family and friends." "Why are you trying to be a part of my life when I've made it abundantly clear that I don't want anything to do with you?" "Shaan, can we talk about this at home?" "Someone could come in at any moment." "No, we'll discuss it right now." Shaan snapped folding his arms across his chest. Khanak glared at him, he was the most stubborn man. "Fine, I guess we're discussing this right now, right here in the women's bathroom." she said rolling her eyes" "I know you don't want me to be a part of your life but unfortunately I've learned that my life is meaningless with out you." "I know you don't feel that you can ever trust me and I don't blame you. " "But that doesn't mean I'm giving up on us. I love you too too much and I know you love me." "I made a very, very big mistake that I am very sorry about, but i won't repeat the same mistake twice." "You're it for me, if I can't be with you then I won't be with anyone else." "I can't love anyone as much as I love you." "You complete me and if you let yourself believe it, then you know I complete you too." We've always had this crazy attraction, almost from the second we met, sparks had flown. The world kept throwing us together and then we finally realized maybe there's something there. And then we fell in love, an all consuming, passionate love. I won't lose that once in a lifetime love without a fight.

Shaan should his head. "Khanak you're crazy if you think I'm going to love you again." "So you're saying you don't love me anymore?" she asked taking a step closer to him. "No, No I don't. " "Look into my eyes when you say it Shaan." Khanak came closer to him staring into his eyes. "I, I don't love you anymore." Khanak stared at him and then smiled. "You are such a bad liar Shaan Singhania." "You love me too much that's why you lash out at me so much." "If you didn't love me then I couldn't make you so angry., I wouldn't have been able to hurt you so much." "I would have no effect on your emotions." " I made a big mistake but I was hurt and I acted immaturely." "Instead of coming to you with my worries I turned away from you." "I was stupid and immature but I've realized my mistake." "You can keep pushing me away, but know this, the harder you push the stronger my resolve will get." I won't back off because I think our love is worth fighting for. Shaan stared at her speechless. .He had no smart remark for her, nor did he have the energy to even fight with her. She caressed his face with her hand and then reached over kissing his cheek. "I love you Shaan, but you need to get out of here before someone finds us in here." With that she pulled away giving him a big smile and then went back to fixing her sari.

He exited the room. He was getting tired of fighting with her all the time. He was tired of being angry and of the tightness in his chest everytime he thought of his life without Khanak. But he didn't know if he could actually ever trust her either.

The ride home was quiet. even Rashi for once didn't have much to say. As they entered the house Khanak sneezed and then sneezed again, and again. Both Rashi and Shaan looked at her and then eachother. "Oh Oh" Rashi said. Why don't you dance in the rain some more? Shaan thought to himself. "I'm fine, it's just allergies." she said smiling and then sneezing. "If you say so." Rashi said raising her eyebrows. Shaan didn't say anything as he walked past her, and up the stairs. Khanak went up to her room and took a hot shower. She was so cold she thought, as she grabbed a sweater and put it over her shorts and tank. She needed a thick blanket. Opening her bedroom room she looked outside, everyone was sleeping. Maybe they'll have blankets in the hall closet. She walked to the closet, opening it and finding what she was looking for. Only one problem, it was jammed in tight. It wouldn't budge. Khanak kept trying to pull it but she didn't have the energy to do it. She wrapped her sweater tighter around her and tried to figure out what to do.

Shaan awoke with a start. What was that noise? He got up to check it out and found Khanak struggling with something in the hall closet. "What are you doing?" he asked angrily. But one look at her face and he was instantly remorseful for snapping at her. She was pale. "Nothing I'm just cold." she said softly. "I wanted to get a blanket out but it's stuck." In this weather it hard enough to even wear clothes forget about a heavy blanket. He took the blanket out and walked with her back to her room. "Thanks." she whispered taking the blanket. "Are you okay, you don't look well" he asked. "I'm fine, I'm just so tired and cold." "So cold" she said shivering and then feeling exhausted she leaned into him. Now Shaan was worried. He should never have let her dance in the rain!

He helped her lie down and then he left the room coming back a short while later with medication and water. Khanak was tossing and turning in bed, her blanket now on the floor along with her sweater. He felt her forehead and she was on fire. After checking her temperature, he saw that she was well above normal. "Khanak,, let me help you sit up, so you can take this medication." "Shaan it's so hot, and my mouth is so dry." 'Okay baby, this will help it I promise." She took the medication and looked at him with big eyes. "I don't feel well" she said tearing up. She looked like a little girl he thought. "I know, but the medication will help and I'm going to apply some cold compresses that will help too." 'You lie down and rest." 'Shaan please don't leave me." she said pleadingly. "I'm not going anywhere I'm right here. Now close your eyes." Shaan applied the compresses and Khanak slowly drifted off to sleep. Staring down at her and seeing how vulnerable she looked, it shook him. He moved her hair out of her face . What was he going to do about her. It was becoming harder and harder to fight his true feelings for her. A part of him was still holding on to that anger. But a big part of him just wanted to grab her and hold her and forget what had happened.

He laid down next to her and tried to fall asleep himself. She woke twice more during the night. The first time she started tossing and turning in her sleep. feversih and in her delirium she repeated the same thing. I love you Shaan. I love you. He applied a cold compress, trying to bring down the fever and eventually she went back to sleep. The second time she woke in a cold sweat, crying out his name. The fever had finally broken. "I'm right here Khanak" he said gently wrapping his arms around her. Again she drifted off.

Khanak, woke up slowly. Opening her eyes and staring at the ceiling. She felt out of sorts. "Then she remembered the events of the previous night and Shaan taking care of her. She smiled to herself, wrapping her arms around her. Her bedroom door opened and she saw Shaan walking in. "Oh good, you're up." "Here first take this." he said handing her some medication. "The doctor is coming by this morning to check up on you, he may prescribe something else, get one of the staff to pick it up for you." She nodded. "How are you feeling now he asked checking her forehead with his hand and then sticking a thermometer in her mouth?" "Better just a little weak." "Okay well your not going into the office today," seeing Khanak ready to interject he stopped her. "No, you're resting today. I don't need you collapsing at work." "Yes sir." Khanak said saluting. Shaan gave her a look. "If you need anything." ask Rashi. Khanak nodded as he turned to leave she stopped him. "Thanks for taking care of me last night." Shaan turned back around. "Don't read anything into Khanak." he snapped. "You're living in my house, you're my responsibility." "I would have done it for anyone." "Oh you would have held anyone all night giving them tender, loving care?" she asked innocently her eyes wide. "Yes!" he snapped walking out and closing the door behind him.

Khanak spent the day in bed, reading magazines, talking to Aria, listening to music. A sick day was such a luxury. A day to do nothing! She never got to do nothing. And then Shaan had called to check up on her. He didn't speak to her, but Rashi said he asked "like a 100 questions about how you're feeling." Khanak was so happy. Getting sick was the best thing that could have happened to her.

"Hi bhabi, do you need anything?" Rashi asked coming and sitting on Khanak's bed. "Thanks sweetie but I'm fine." The doctor had come by and said it looked like a 24 hour bug and she should be back to old self in a day or two. " Did Shaan say when he'd be home?' Khanak asked Rashi. "I don't know what time he'll be back on Saturday." "Saturday?" Khanak looked at her questioningly. "Yeah, remember he's going to Singapore today. " "OH MY GOD! Singapore." Khanak had completely forgotten about Singapore. Damn, this sickness was the worst thing that could have happened. "I was supposed to go too" she whined. "Bhabhi, you're sick. Bhai told me to make sure you rested." "I can rest when I'm dead." Khanak said scrambling out of bed looking for her flights tickets. Maybe there was still time. She pulled the tickets out of her bag. "What time is it?" she yelled. It's 4:00. Khanak felt like crying. The tickets had been for 3:00 She had been resting while Shaan had boarded his flight and left for Singapore. Khanak threw herself on the bed. Life was not fair.

The rest of the evening Khanak mopped around. Rashi rolled her eyes seeing the forlorn expression on Khanak's face. "He'll be back soon" she said exasperated. "Rashi you don't understand what this trip meant. You just don't get it". This would have been her chance to spend time away from work and home with Shaan. Time that could help him realize that he did love her still and that she loved him. He probably would have forgiven her there too. But that plan went down the drain as she rested at home! "Stop sulking and just book another flight." Rashi snapped! Khanak looked up at Rashi, with wide eyes. "OH MY GOSH ofcourse why don't I just book another flight." "Rash you're a genius I could kiss you, "and she did just that. Grabbing her lap top she booked her flight. I'm coming Shaan she thought smiling. I'm coming!
