Shaan is lying in bed, waiting for his wife as she finishes her daily night routine of combing her hair and putting cream on her face. He smiles seeing her lost in some thought, worrying her lower lip with her teeth. He gets up in order to go and hug her but his eye falls on the white card glaring up at him from the side table, taunting him with its sheer whiteness. He suddenly gets an uneasy feeling regarding what his wife is thinking about. Consumed by an unnamed feeling, he picks up the card, tears it into little pieces and throws them into the bin.
Satisfied, he goes and sits beside Khanak and hugs her tightly. Startled out of her reverie, she looks at him in the mirror, smiles and leans back against him.
'Ab aur kitni deyr lagao gi Khanak?Mein intezar ker ker ke thak gaya!'
'Tou mein ne kaha hai intezar kerne ko?Aap so jaiye na!'
'Khanak pagal ho kya? Mein kabhi tumharay baghair sonay leta hoon?Aur waise bhi sonay ki baat kaun ker raha tha?!'
'Shantanu aap bhi na!' She blushes and gets up, walking towards the bed.
'Shantanu! Mein ne yahan Dr Armaan ka card rakha tha per woh ab yahan nahi hai!Aap ko pata hai kahan gaya?'
'Card? Hmm nahi tou.Mein ne tou nahi dekha.Aur chodo na Khanak! Mujhe nahi lagta hamein iss umar mein Cardiologist ki zarurat paday gi!'
'Lekin Shantanu-'
'Khanak please! Abhi uss ki baat ker ke mera mood kharab nahi karo!'
Khanak starts to retort but stops herself, not willing to fight with Shaan at the moment.

Shaan and Khanak are in the cafeteria of Sanjeevni Hospital, getting tea. They have come here to wish a friend of Shaan's who has just had a baby.
'Shantanu, mujhe lagta hai hamein jaa ker Dr Armaan se milna chahiye!' Khanak says excitedly as they sip their tea.
'Nahi Khanak! Cardiologist hona koi mazaaq thodi hai! I am sure woh busy hoga.'
'Oh.Yeh tou aap theek keh rahay hain' Khanak says, looking slightly crestfallen.
'Of course mein sahih keh raha hoon aur tumhein itna bhi sad lagnay ki zarurat nahi-'
Shaan is cut off mid-sentence by a loud voice.
'Ramu Kaka! Do chai tou dena!'
Shaan and Khanak turn in time to see Dr Armaan gallantly puuling out a chair for a pretty woman in a labcoat, with a Zumba-esque body.
'Dr Armaan!' Khanak calls out before Shaan can stop her.
Armaan looks up confusedly, then grins as he remembers them.
'Khanak! Kaisi hain aap?' He asks as he comes over, forgetting the girl at the table.
'Jee mein tou bilkul theek hoon! Mein Shantanu se abhi yeh keh rahi thi ke hum chal ke aap se miltay hain per unho ne kaha aap busy hongay.'
'Oh Hi Shaan! Aur Khanak, meray paas khoobsurat ladkiyon ke liyay tou hamesha time hota hai!' He winks at her.
Khanak blushes, not used to being flirted with by anyone except her husband, while Shaan glares at Armaan.
'I think your companion is waiting for you! Tum jaa ker chai piyo.Mein aur Khanak tou bas jaanay walay thay.'
'Oh nahi nahi!Hum sab saath chai peetay hain!' Armaan says and calls the other doctor over.
'Hey Dr Veena! Inn se milyay-ye Khanak hain aur yeh unn ke pati Shaan.We'll have tea together!'
'Umm..sure!' Dr Veena smiles but it is clear to everyone except Dr Armaan that she is none-too-happy at having their cosy tete-a-tete interrupted.
'Soo...aaj Sanjeevni kaise aana hua?Sab theek tou hai na?' Armaan asks Khanak with a worried expression
'Oh haan sab theek hai! Hum tou Shantanu ke friend ki wife se milna aye thay. Unn ki bahut cute si beti hui hai.' Khanak chimes in with a dreamy smile on her face, before Shaan can reply.
'Oh congratulations! Thats great news!'
'Haina? Ek nayi zindagi, ek nayi shuruaat...' Shaan looks at Khanak, surprised to see the longing in her eyes.
'Khanak jee aap tou philosophy bhi ker leti hain! Wow!' Armaan is on a roll, liking this simple girl with her big eyes and pretty smile. Well actually liking her just because she is a girl. But the simplicity, eyes and smile make it all the more pleasant.
Khanak blushes again and looks down while Shaan almost turns red in anger.
'Mein tou bahut simple si baat keh rahi thi.Aap bhi na!'
'Haha! Aap tou-'
'Dr Veena! Aap bhi cardiologist hain kya?' Shaan turns towards Veena and loudly asks.
'Oh no! Mein endocrinologist hoon.I was consulting with Dr Armaan on a case of his-one of his patients' has diabetes aur mein inn ko samjhana chah rahi thi ke why the procedure he wants to perform is not safe for the patient.'
'Oh yeh tou bahut serious lagta hai! Dr Armaan I think aap donon ko baith ke baat ker leni chahiye, hum loag chalte hain!' Shaan says standing up from the table.
'Arey nahi yaar.Tum loag baitho. Hum tou baad mein baat ker lein ge. Patients come and patients go but Khanak tou baar baar nahi aye gi!'
Shaan looks at him with a I-can't-believe-this guy expression while Dr Armaan turns back towards Khanak and asks her if she would like something else.
Shaan interrupts with a 'No thanks! Yeh shaam ko khaali chai peeti hai.'
Khanak says, 'Actually mein soch rahi thi ek samosa kha loon!'
The three get busy in arguing why Khanak is suddenly changing her habit, who will get her the samosa and so on and so forth.
Dr Veena coughs politely. Once. Twice. She repeats the manouvre loudly a few times. Both the guys are busy trying to get Khanak's attention.
She gets up in a huff, gives the three of them the evil eye and storms away in her 4 inch long stilettos.
'I think I need to accept that offer from Princeton-Plainsboro...' is the thought foremost on her mind.
