Thanks for the pic Rimi, and thanks for the info Vibs. In this the same river that is called Beas? One of the five rivers that flowed thro' Punjab?

Yes, it is. Sorry, I thought the spelling was Byaas - I guess I am wrong.

It still flows through Punjab, right? I mean - the way to Manali from Delhi follows that river.

oh Yes, i also remember it now!

Yes, it is Byaas and flows thr Punjab, one of the five rivers

in Punjab, 5 rivers flows thr, thus the name Punjab. Punj=five and Aap=water.

These rivers are:
Ravi, Jhelum, Chinab, Satluj, and Biyas

from wikipedia:

The Beas River is the second easternmost of the rivers of the Punjab. The river rises in the Himalayas in central Himachal Pradesh, India, and flows for some 470 km (290 miles) to the Sutlej River in western Punjab state.

It is also believed that Beas is named after Vyaas, the presiding patron of the river, he is said to have created it from its source lake, the Vyas Kund.
