Maybe peeps at the time lived at one place for 7 years or so, and then moved. Valmiki may have moved from Chitrakoot sometime between Rama leaving Chitrakoot and Sita being exiled.

I remember reading in a translation of Uttar Kand that Ram tells Lakshman to take Sita beyond the borders of Ayodhya (also beyond the borders of Kosala) and leave her near Maharishi Valmiki's Ashram. The Sage may have been there from the time Ram, Sita and Lakshman met him during their exile. As far as I know, Maharishi Valmiki lived near the banks of the river Tamasa but beyond the borders of Kosala (probably not too far away from the border).

so, Sita ji was introduced to others as Sita and not as Vandevi and am i right to say that all or most of the ppl in the aashram knew that she was Shri Ram ji's wife Sita then?
