Thanks for posting this. This is new as well - Shatrughan actually knowing that the 2 kids were his nephews.

Actually, in a bookstore that I visit weekly, they have a kids section that have plenty of Ramayans, and there, the books I see have Kush & Luv fighting all 3 brothers, and almost getting into a battle with Rama before Valmiki intervenes.

Another noteworthy thing about these accounts I've read - there is nothing about K-L singing the Ramayan in Rama's court. That was a central theme of Valmiki's Ramayan, and aside from 7-94, is there right at the beginning in 1-4: yet, surprisingly, there are narrations about them that doesn't include this central fact about them. That's like narrating the story of Rama without including his war with Ravan in it.

Rajinish, please clarify my doubt. Till now I am in a opinion that both Luv & Kush don't know that their mother was Sita until they don't meet their father Ram. But it was mentioned in Part 14 that they told Shatrughan that their mother was Sita. If they know that they are Sitaji's sons, than they could also know that their father was Ramji (because they sang Ramayan in different places and also in Ayodhya).

That struck me as well. Wouldn't Shatrughan have told them that this horse belongs to your father Rama, which is why you should return it, instead of revolting against him?
