Sita knew that Kush was going into battle? And she didn't know that the King who had captured Luv was Shatrughan (incidentally, here, is Shatrughan the ruler of Mathura or not?) I have other questions that I don't want to ask at the moment about her later reactions, but for now, where does Sita get weapons from? This one is completely unheard of.

What happens next? Don't keep us in suspense❓

Lav and Kush defeated Ram's army

Shatrughn proceeded to fight with Kush and asked him - "Who are You? You look like your brother Lav. What is your name and who are your father and mother?"

Kush said - "Pativrataa Sita has given us birth. We both live in this forest worshipping Maharshi Valmeeki's feet. My name is Kush, and he is Lav. Now you tell your introduction that who are you? Why have you released this horse. If you are really brave, then come and fight me, I will kill you just now."

Shatrughn got very happy to see Ram and Sita's sons, but since he had already challenged them, that is why he picked up his bow. Seeing Shatrughn picking his bow, Kush also picked his bow and started shooting arrows at Shatrughn. Kush used Narayan Astra but it didn't do anything to him, so Kush got angry at this.

Kush said - "It seems that you are a very brave man, because my Astra could not harm you at all, but I vow that I will fell you with these three arrows, otherwise I will be a sinner."

And he shot an arrow at Shatrughn but Shatrughn cut it immediately, Kush shot another arrow, but Shatrughn cut that one also, Kush then shot another arrow remembering his mother. Shatrughn wanted to cut that also, but it wounded him before he cut it and he fell down. Thus Kush won.

After Shatrughn's fall, Surath came to fight with Kush. Kush broke his chariot and troubled him a lot. Then Kush shot a terrible arrow at Surath and he fell down unconscious. After Surath's fall Hanuman came. Kush invoke Sanhar Astra and shot at Hanuman and it made him unconscious. Now came Sugreev. Sugreev was surprised to see the child's bravery. Kush used Varun Astra and tied him with Varun Paash. In the meantime, Lav also defeated Pushkal, Angad, Pratapagraya, Veermani etc. After defeating all, the both brothers embraced each other.

Lav said - "I have won this battle because of you. Now let us look for some mark of this battle."

So they went to Shatrughn and took his crown, Lav took Pushkal's beautiful crown, then they went to Sugreev and Hanumaan and tied them.

Lav said - "Brother, we will take them to our Aashram, our friends will play with them." So they brought both to their Aashram. Sita got very happy to see Her sons back safely. But as She saw Sugreev and Hanumaan, She recognized them and asked Her sons to free them immediately.

She said - "They are very brave Vaanar, free them. He is Hanuman who burned Lanka and he is the king of Vaanar and bears. Why did you arrest them like this?"

Kush and Lav said - "Maa, There is a king named Ram who is the son of Dasharath. He has released a horse, on whose forehead is tied a gold plate, on which it is written, "Whoever are true Kshatriya, only those people should catch the horse, otherwise bow down to me." Seeing that King's stubbornness, I caught the horse. We killed the whole army, this is Shatrughn's crown and this is Pushkal's crown."

Sita said - "Children, You have done a great injustice. You have caught Shree Ram's horse, you have killed many soldiers, you have arrested these Vaanar, all this is not good. You don't know, this is your father's horse. He released him for His Ashwamedh Yagya. So free these Vaanar, as well as His horse."

Kush and Lav said - "Maa, We fought with them according to our Kshatriya Dharm and who fight with Kshatriya Dharm, they are not unjust. Maharshi also told us that according to Kshatriya Dharm a son can fight with father, a brother can fight with his brother, and a student can fight with his teacher. This doesn't cause one to be a sinner. But if you say, we free these Vaanar and release that horse also."

They went to the field, freed Vaanar and returned the horse. Sita remembered Ram, looked at Soorya Bhagavaan, and prayed - "If I worship Ram with mind, speech and actions then Shatrughn and his army should be alive." As She said this, Shatrughn and his army got alive."

Part 15
Ram Came to know about his sons

As all woke up, Shatrughn saw that the Yagya horse was standing before him, everybody was alive, although his crown had disappeared. He was surprised to see this, he said to Sumati

Satrughn- "This child has kindly given us this horse back to complete the Yagya. Now let us go to Raghunaath, He might be waiting for the horse."

So they all proceeded towards Ayodhyaa. They crossed Gangaa River and entered the capital. Ram sent Lakshman and Bharat to welcome them. They all came to Raam and Shatrughn fell on Ram's feet. Ram was extremely happy to see all of them. All others also fell on Ram's feet. Then Sumati told Ram everything which happened in the journey. Sumati paraded all the vanquished kings who had made the mistake of stopping the horse-- Sumad, Sabahu, Daman, Satyavan, Surath, etc. He then narrated the brave deed of Lav and Kush.He also revealed how mighty warriors like Hanuman, Sugreeva Shatrughan etc had been defeated by both of them.Whatever description Sumati gave to Ram, He understood that those two boys were His, still He asked Vaalmeeki Jee

Ram - "Munivar, Who are these two boys who resemble me and live in your Aashram? Why do they live there? It is heard that they are very good at archery. What type of children are they who made Shatrughn unconscious in just playful mood and tied even Hanumaan? Please tell me about them.

Vaalmeeki Jee said - "Prabhu, You know everything, still I tell you for your satisfaction. When you abandoned Sita without any fault, She was pregnant at that time and was wandering in a fierce forest. Seeing Her crying I took Her to my Aashram. There She lived in a leaf hut and gave birth to two sons. I named them Kush and Lav. I performed their all Sanskaar, I taught them Ved and weaponry. They learned music also. Seeing their ability I ask them to sing Ramayan daily. They are good at playing Veenaa, Mridang etc instruments. One day Varun took them to Vibhaavaree Puree to hear their music. Mitra Devta was also there. Both were not satisfied yet listening to your Leelaa.

I also went there. At that time they told me to tell you about Sita like this - "Sita is the leader of all Pativrata and has all qualities. She has given birth to brave sons and should not have been abandoned. She holds a good character. She is Death, She is Amrit, She gives heat and She makes rains. Hey Raghunaath Jee, You are the father and She is the mother of the whole world. You know everything that is why You know this also. Give Her full respect. Hey Valmeeki Jee, tell all this to Raam on behalf of me." Varun told me this.

All have heard Ramayan and they have admired your sons very much. Therefore please accept Sita and your sons. Sita brought your army alive - this incident has proved Her innocence. Nothing is hidden either from You, or from us, or from Devta. Only some ordinary people created confusion, but the above said event has cleared that also."

Yes satrughn was rular of mathura because this incident has happened after Lavnasur death. Satrughn used the same astra to make lav unconcious with whome he killed lavnashur. And sita din't knew It was Ram's army before she send Kush otherwise she would have stopped the battle then and there. Please see next part to know what was her reaction when she came to know that it was Ram's army with whome her sons were fighting. Incidently in padm puran there is no mentioning of Ram's coming to battlegroung which was shown in older ramayan. I have no idea about that account. Do anyone know that source? Here sita herself ask lav and kush to realease Hanuman and bring everyone to life nither here is any mentioning of Lakshman and Bharat in fight which was shown in old Ramayan and many serials. This is still confusing me😕
