The first fight in the journey

Shatrughn asked his people, "Who can face Daman?" Pushkal came forward to fight with Daman and Shatrughn sent him to fight with him. Both introduced themselves and started fighting. Pushkal was getting heavier for Daman. Daman's army was decreasing in number. Both were using Divine weapons - Aagneya Astra, Varun Astra etc. But once Pushkal shot an arrow which hit Daman's chest and he fell down. His Saarathee took him off the battle ground, and his people ran away from there. Seeing this Pushkal didn't hit anybody. Seeing Pushkal as a winner, Shatrughn got very happy."
When Subaahu heard that his army was killed, he asked his people as what was the matter. His people told him that Daman had caught Raam's horse and His nephew has defeated him. Hearing this Subaahu came to Shatrughn. Seeing Subaahu coming to them Shatrughn's army got ready to fight. With him came his brother Suketu and his sons Chitraang and Vichitra also. Subaahu fanned unconscious Daman for a while and then he came to his senses. As he woke up he asked - "Where is my bow? And where Pushkal has gone?" Subaahu made him sit on the chariot and asked his army chief to organize his army in Kraunch system."
Seeing Subaahu's ocean like army, Shatrughn asked Sumati - "In which kingdom we nave arrived? Its army seems great in number." Sumati said - "We have come in Chakraankaa Nagaree. Here live such people who have become sinless by worshipping Vishnu. King Subaahu is the King of the same city. He loves his own wife only and never looks at any other woman. He listens only Vishnu related stories, never any other one. He never takes more than 1/6th part of his people's income. He always worships Braahman. There is nobody like him in might. At this time he has come here hearing his son's fall.

Shatrughn said to his army - "Subaahu has organized his army in Kraunch Vyooh (manner), who among you can break this Vyooh?"

Lakshmeenidhi vowed to break the Vyooh and went to fight. Suketu, Subaahu's brother, was standing in front, Lakshmeenidhi introduced himself as the son of king Janak and asked him to return the Yagya horse to them. But Suketu started showering arrows on Bharat's army. Lakshmeenidhi also shot several arrows at Suketu, killed his horses, cut his flag, killed his Saarathee and broke Suketu's bow. Now Suketu climbed down from his chariot and came to Lakshmeenidhi carrying his Gadaa. Both fought with Gadaa. Once Suketu caught Lakshmeenidhi's Gadaa and he hit Lakshmeenidhi's chest with the same Gadaa. Seeing his Gadaa in enemy's hands, Lakshmeenidhi thought to fight with hands and both started fighting with hands only. Fighting like thus they both got fainted."

Now Chitraang, Subaahu's son, came to fight. Pushkal came to face him. Chitraang flew his chariot in the sky. When Pushkal came down on the ground, he destroyed Chitraang's chariot and got ready to shoot an arrow to kill Chitraang. Chitraang said - "People come and go, I am not worried about that, but if I had not destroyed your this arrow I should be considered sinner." Pushkal also said - "If I do not take your life with this arrow then I should be counted as a sinner, and if I have worshipped Shree Raam faithfully then my speech should prove true." and immediately he shot an arrow to cut Chitraang's head, but Chitraang cut that arrow. Everybody got surprised to see this, but the then another surprising thing happened. The hinder part of the cut arrow fell on the ground, and the front part of the arrow, in which the arrowhead was still there, proceeded and cut Chitraang's head.

Subaahu started lamenting for his son. At that time Princes Vichitra and Daman came and consoled him saying - "Do not grieve so much for him, he is blessed who is killed in battleground. Please order us to fight and you yourself also rise to fight." They all again started fighting. Hanumaan saw Subaahu fighting filled with anger, so he came quickly towards him. Subaahu shot some arrows but Hanumaan caught them in between and broke them in several pieces. He tied Subaahu's chariot by his tail and flew away carrying it. Subaahu tried to cut his tail but Hanumaan then hit Subaahu's chest with his foot. Subaahu fell down and got unconscious.

In the same unconscious state he saw Raam in dream that Raam was doing a Yagya at the shore of Sarayoo River. Many Rishi are present there, and whatever things are in this world all have been given by Raam. He woke up and walked towards Hanumaan. He asked his sons also to stop fighting. He said - "Stop this fight. It was very injustice that you caught Raam's horse. He is Brahm in person and is beyond action and reason. He is not human being in spite of being a human being. Knowing Him in this form is Brahm Gyaan. I have understood this Tattwa now. My knowledge was destroyed because of Asitaang Muni's Shaap. And so he surrendered to Shatrughna.

FINALLY
Happy ending after destruction

PART-6
Fight with Viramani and death of Puskal

After wandering at will for some time, the horse arrived at the vicinity of Devapura. This city was so opulent that even the houses of the ordinary citizens were made of silver. The king was named Viramani, and his son was Rukmangada. One day, Rukmangada went to the forest, surrounded by many beautiful women. In that enchanting atmosphere, some women pleased the prince by their dancing, others by their singing, and others by their affectionate embraces. Just at this time, the challenge-horse arrived there. Upon seeing the horse, the women requested, "My dear prince, capture this lovely horse. Look, there is a golden note on it's forehead." Rukmangada easily caught the horse with one hand, and then read the note to the ladies. After doing so, he said, "Who is this Rama? My father is the most powerful king, and he is protected by Lord Shiva. Take this horse to our stables, so that my father can perform the ashvamedha-yajna.Thereafter, the prince returned to the city, along with his wives, and then presented the horse to his father. Upon hearing of what had happened, King Viramani, being very intelligent, did not approve of the act. Indeed, the king thought that his son had acted like a thief. Taking the horse, Viramani then went to consult Lord Shiva.

Lord shiv- "Your son has done well. Today, there will be a great war, enabling me to see my Lord Rama, upon whom I always Meditate. Even though Rama is my Lord, I am still confident that even tne thirty-three crore devas would not be able to take the horse from you, because I am your protector.

Meanwhile, Shatrughna could not find the challenge-horse. He thus inquired from his minister, Sumati, who then informed him that the king of the region was Viramani. He also warned Shatrughna that the king was being personally protected by Lord Shiva.

While Sumati was thus speaking, King Viramani arranged his army, getting ready to fight with Shatrughna.Soon thereafter,Shatrughna saw the vast army approaching for battle.Sumati advised Shatrughna that Pushkala should fight with the king, so that he could engage with Lord Shiva.First, Rukmangada fought with Pushkala. After a fierce fight, Pushkala discharged a weapon that burnt Rukmangada's chariot and made the prince fall unconscious onto the battlefield. After witnessing his son's defeat, Viramani angrily approached Pushkala, desiring revenge. Hanuman rushed at Viramani, but Pushkala stopped him, saying that this enemy was too insignificant to worry about. Thus, Hanuman desisted and Pushkala went to encounter Viramani.

The king said-"You are but a child. Do not try to fight with me, for I am very angry and I am invincible in battle!

Pushkala replied-"You say that 1 am a child, but I say that you are an old man. I have already defeated your son, and now I shall knock you down from your chariot with my weapons.

A terrible battle ensued, with innumerable casualties on both sides. Pushkala and Viramani greatly afflicted one another with their weapons but at last, the king was struck in the chest with a powerful arrow, causing him to fall unconscious from his chariot. In this way, Pushkala again attained victory.Upon seeing the defeat of his devotees, Lord Shiva sent Virabhadra to fight with Pushkala, and Nandi to fight with Hanuman. After an intense fight, when Virabhadra broke his chariot, Pushkala dismounted. The two great warriors then fought with their fists. Indeed, the fight went on for many days, continuing throughout the day and night. On the fifth day, Virabhadra grabbed Pushkala and ascended to the sky, where the battle continued. Finally, Virabhadra threw Pushkala to the ground and then cut off his head with his trident,
Puskala died

Part-7
Shiv enters the battlefield and Hanuman fight with shiv

Hearing the news of Pushkal's killing, Shatrughn got very sad, and seeing Shatrughn sad Shiv said - "Don't be sorry for Pushkal. He fought for five days with the same Veerbhadra who killed Daksh in one moment only. Come and fight." So Shatrughn started fighting with him . Everybody was thinking, "Who will win. One is Shiv himself, another is the younger brother of Raam." Shatrughn and Shiv fought for 11 days. On the 12th day Shatrughn used Brahmaastra for Shiv but he drank it smilingly. Shatrughn was thinking "What to do now" that Shiv shot an arrow at Shatrughn's chest, it pierced his chest and he fell down. Seeing Shatrughn unconscious, Hanumaan kept Pushkal's body on a chariot and came to fight with Shiv.

Hanumaan to Shiv - "You are doing wrong by killing a devotee of Raam that is why I want to punish you. I heard before that Shiv himself used to worship Raghunaath's feet, but today it seems that it was wrong, because you have fought with Raam's devotee Shatrughn."

Shiv said - "You are a great warrior and are blessed. You have heard right. Raam is my Lord, but my devotee Veermani has brought His horse and Shatrughn has attacked him, that is why I have come here to fight for my devotee. One must protect his devotee."

Hearing this Hanumaan got very angry and he hit a rock on his chariot. It killed Shiv's Saarathee and broke his chariot. Seeing this Nandee rushed there and asked Shiv to ride on him. Seeing riding on Nandee, Hanumaan got angrier and threw a Shaal tree on Shiv. Shiv shot an arrow which had three sharp heads, at Hanumaan. Hanumaan caught it in his hand and broke it.Both started fighting fiercely, but Hanumaan made Shiv uncomfortable

Shiv to hanumaan-
"You are blessed. I am very pleased with your bravery. I am available with small Daan, Yagya or Tapasyaa, so you ask any Var from me.

Hanumaan said - "Maheshwar, By the grace of Shree Raam I have got everything, but since you are pleased with me that is why I ask you something. My all people who have fallen unconscious and severed, so please you protect them till I come back. I am going to bring Drone Parvat. There are Sanjeevanee herb on that Parvat."

Hearing this Shankar said - "OK, You go."

Hanumaan went to bring Drone Parvat and here Shiv waited protecting Pushkal etc people. Hanumaan crossed over all Dweep (islands) and came to Ksheer Saagar. As he tried to pick the Drone Parvat up, it started trembling.

Devtaa said - "Why are you taking this, leave it alone?

Hanumaan said - "There is a battle going on in Veermani's city. Our many warriors have been killed in that battle. I am taking this Parvat to give them life. If you will stop me I will kill everyone of them. Either give me this Parvat or give me the herb so that I can bring them to life."
Hanumaan came to Pushkal and said to Sumati - "Now I will bring all dead warriors of the battlefield to life." And he put the herb on the chest of Pushkal and said - "If I consider Raam my Lord by mind, speech and action, then Pushkal should be alive." Pushkal immediately got up and asked about Veerbhadra. Hanumaan said - "Veerbhadra had killed you and you have got this life by the grace of Shree Ram. Shatrughn is still unconscious so let us go there." Hanumaan came to Shatrughn and kept the herb on his chest. He also got alive, and he also asked about Shiv. Thus Hanumaan brought all the dead alive.

Part-8
Ram appears at battleground

This time Veermani himself came to fight with Shatrughn. Shatrughn used Aagneya Astra, then Veermani used Varun Astra, then Shatrughn used Vaayavya Astra, then Veermani used Parvat Astra, and then Shatrughn used Vajra Astra. Now Veermani lost control and used Brahmaastra. Seeing Brahm Astra coming Shatrughn used Mohan Astra which made Brahmaastra useless and made the king unconscious. This caused Shiv to intervene and fight with Shatrughn. This time Shiv made Shatrughn uncomfortable, so at Hanumaan's advice he remembered Raam. As he remembered Him, He came there in the same guise in which He took Deekshaa. Shatrughn got surprised to see Him in the battlefield.

Seeing Him Shatrughn got relieved and Hanumaan fell on His feet. Shiv also greeted Him and said

shiv - "I did all this to do good to my devotee. Please pardon me for this. I come to you to protect my devotee. In earlier times, this king did Tapasyaa after taking bath in Kshipraa River in Mahaakaal temple. At that time I gave him Var that "you will rule in Devpur. And till Raam's Yagya horse will come there, I will live there. I am bound to that Var. Now my work is finished. He will hand over you your horse and from now on he will serve you."

Raam said - "All Devtaa's duty is to protect their devotees. Thus what you did, was your duty. Shiv is in my heart, and I am in Shiv's heart. We both are the same. Who think that we are different they fall in Narak. My Bhakt worship you, and your Bhakt worship me."

Then Shiv also brought all of them alive and asked them to surrender to Raam. Shree Raam got disappeared from there. Hey Muni, Do not consider Raam a human being, He is omnipresent. Shankar also bade farewell to his Bhakt and said to him

Shiv- "Getting Raam is very difficult in this world, that is why now you surrender to Raam."

After saying this Shiv also got disappeared with his Paarshad from there. Blessed was Veermani who got Darshan of Raam. Veermani also accompanied Raam's procession of Yagya horse.

Part 9
Horse paralyzed

As the challenge-horse continued to wander over the Earth, King Viramani accompanied Shatrughna, along with his army. Then, one day, something wonderful occured. The challenge-horse suddenly became stiff, like a statue, and thus did not move. The guards beat the horse with whips, and yet it still remained immovable. When Shatrughna was informed of this, he had Pushkala lift up the horse. Still, the horse remained stiff. Hanuman then went and dragged the horse, and yet, it remained like a statue.Shatrughna approached his minister, Sumati, and inquired as to the cause of this wonderful occurance. Sumati suggested that this must be the work of a powerful sage. Soldiers were sent to search for this mendicant and finally, at a great distance, a hermitage was discovered. Shatrughna was informed that the ashram of the sage Shaunaka was nearby. Along with Hanuman, Pushkala and some others, he went there. The sage gave Shatrughna a nice reception and asked about the purpose of his visit. In response, Shatrughna explained how his challenge-horse had miraculously become paralyzed. After contemplating for a moment, Pushkala replied, "There was a great sage named Sattvika, who practiced penance on the banks of the River Kaveri. One day, death appeared before Sattvika and took him to the peak of Mount Meru. A great Jambu tree was there, and a river called Jambabati. There, Sattvika enjoyed the company of many celestial girls, according to his desire.Being very proud of himself, however, he arrogantly disrespected those girls, and as a result, he was cursed by sages to become a demon. When he begged for forgiveness, the sages told him, 'When you make Rama's challenge-horse stiff, you will be able to hear Rama's pastimes. After that, you will become freed from our curse.Shaunaka thus urged Shatrughna to go and narrate Rama's pastimes to the demon, thus freeing him from the sages' curse. Shatrughna went and narrated Rama's pastimes near the challenge-horse, and while doing so, he suddenly saw a divine being, ascending to heaven in an airplane. That being then said, "I have become released from the sages' curse by hearing Rama's astimes. i am returning to my celestial abode, by your mercy. At that time, the horse became free from stiffness, and thus proceed to wander over the Earth.

Part-10
Fight with King Suratha and defeat of Ram's Army

Finally, after seven months were completed, the horse came to the kingdom of Suratha, who was a great devotee of Lord Rama. When the king's servants spotted the challenge-horse, they reported the matter to their master.
They said, "This horse belongs to Rama, the king at Ayodhya.

King-Why don't you seize it? It is very charming. It is our great fortune that we shall be able to see Lord Rama. I will capture the horse and then release it when Rama comes here. In this way, my goal of life will be achieved.

The king's servants caught the challenge-horse. When he came to know of this, Shatrughna questioned Sumati about the king of that region. In response, Sumati described King Suratha as Rama's loyal devotee, and he advised Shatrughna to send Angada as an envoy.Angada thus went to Suratha's assembly, and advised him to return the challenge-horse.

King Suratha replied- "I have knowingly seized Lord Rama's horse. I will not release it from fear of Shatrughna, however. Only if Rama personally comes here will I not only return the horse, but also offer my entire kingdom in His service. If Rama does not come, then I will easily defeat Shatrughna and his followers.

Upon hearing this, Angada laughed and said- "You have become senile with old age! You greatly underestimate Shatrughna, and his brother's son, Pushkala. What then to speak of Hanuman? Compared to them, you are but a mosquito! You must return the horse if you at all desire your welfare, and that of your sons.

King Suratha remained adamant, however, considering himself to be more powerful than even Hanuman. Angada returned to Shatrughna and informed him of all that had taken place.Thereafter, a great battle commenced. Suratha's son, Champaka, fought with Pushkala. After a heroic fight, Champaka released an arrow that struck Pushkala in the chest and bound him. Champaka then took Pushkala on his chariot. Upon seeing this, Shatrughna ordered Hanuman to free Pushkala. In the fight that followed, Champaka surprisingly foiled all of Hanuman's attacks. The enraged Hanuman then grabbed Champaka by the arm and took him into the sky. Even there, Champaka fought bravely, but finally, Hanuman grabbed him by the foot and threw him to the ground, causing the prince to faint. After accompishing this feat, Hanuman freed Pushkala from Champaka's nooses.Suratha angrily challenged Hanuman, and proceeded to pierce him with numerous arrows. Hanuman then went and grabbed Suratha's bow and broke it to pieces. Indeed, again and again, Suratha picked up a new bow, and again and again, Hanuman broke each one. In this way, eighty bows were destroyed.Suratha then struck Hanuman with a shakti weapons. In retaliation, Hanuman picked up the king's chariot and began carrying him toward the sea. Suratha struck Hanuman severely on the chest with his club and so the chariot fell from his hands and broke. Suratha mounted another chariot but again, Hanuman shattered it to pieces. Indeed, forty-nine chariots were smashed in this way.

King Suratha then angrily relased the Pashupata weapon, causing countless ghosts, witches, and fiends to suddenly appear. Indeed, Hanuman was bound by that weapon of Lord Shiva. However, while remembering Lord Rama, Hanuman easily broke his bonds. Finally, Suratha put the weapon of Lord Rama upon his bow. Being bound by that weapon, Hanuman did not even try to free himself, out of respect for his master. Pushkala then came and attacked Suratha. After a breathtaking battle, Suratha made Pushkala faint upon the battlefield. At this, Shatrughna finally came and challenged Suratha. After a fierce fight, Suratha released an arrow that fell upon Shatrughna's chest, making him fall unconscious. Seeing this, the other warriors supporting Shatrughna fled. Sugriva then challenged King Suratha. Soon, Suratha was able to bind Sugriva with the weapon presided over by Lord Rama.Thereafter, in his court, Suratha told Hanuman,

Suratha-"Kindly remember Lord Rama, the protector of His devotees, so that He will come nere and release you. Otherwise, I will not free you, even after many, many years.Hanuman offered prayers to Lord Rama, begging for his release. He concluded by saying

Hanuman-"O Lord, I have been bound by Suratha's nooses. If You do not come and release me, the people of this world will joke about us. For this reason, please do not delay.

Lord Rama immediatley came, accompanied by Lakshman and Bharata, riding upon the Pushpaka chariot. Suratha offered his obeisances, hundreds of times. Rama then came and embraced the king. After doing so, He freed his dear devotees from their bondage. Indeed, all of the unconscious warriors quickly regained consciousness. After this was accomplished, Suratha gladly presented the challenge-horse to Rama, and begged for His forgiveness. After staying in Suratha's palace for three days, Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya in the Pushpaka chariot. Putting Champaka in charge of the city, Suratha accompanied Shatrughna on his journey, protecting Rama's challenge-horse. After wandering at will, the horse finally came to the ashram of Valmiki Muni.

Lav catches the horse

One day, in the morning, when The Sun was rising, the horse arrived in Vaalmeeki's Aashram on the banks of Gangaa River. Sita's son, Lav went to bring Samidhaa for morning Havan. There he saw the Yagya horse
Lav to other Muni's sons - "Whose horse is this who has come to our Aashram? Let us go and see him. Do not be afraid."

Lav went to that horse and read the letter tied to his forehead. He opened it and read it. He got angry reading it.

Lav - "See his bravery, who has described himself in this letter. What is Raam? What is Shatrughn? Is it only Raam and Shatrughn who are born in Kshatriya family? Are we not Kshatriya?"

Thus Lav caught the horse and got ready to fight taking his bow and arrow.

Munis' sons tried to explain him - "Listen, Ayodhyaa's king Raam is very powerful. Even Indra cannot touch His horse, so better you leave this horse alone."

Hearing this Lav said - "You are Braahman's sons, you don't know the might of Kshatriya. Kshatriyas are famous for their might and Braahman are famous to eat food. Go and eat food offered by your mothers."

Munis' sons got silent at this and stood away from him. In the meantime Shatrughn's soldiers came there and seeing their horse tied there asked Lav

Soldiers- "Who has tied this horse here? On whom Yam Raaj is angry today?"

Lav said - "I have tied him here. Whoever will come to take it, my elder brother Kush will be angry at him."

Hearing Lav the soldiers thought, "He is only a child. We should not pay any attention to him." so they proceeded to free the horse. Seeing this Lav cut their arms. They went from there crying and told everything to Shatrughn."
