I don't think Sagar had two wives also he and his one wife had 60,000 biological sons, although not very sure about this....

I remember reading that Sagar had two wives. For a long time they were childless and as a result of a boon (or blessings from a sage) they got sons. There were two options for the two wives - one of them will bear a single son who will be very valiant and rule the kingdom after his father and the other will bear 60,000 sons, each of whom are brave warriors. I think the elder one took the offer of one son and the second wife took the offer of the 60,000 sons. I may be wrong - but I remember reading this long long ago.

Sorry Vibishna, I am a little slow today. Which Sagar are you taking about? I hope you do not mean Ramanand Sagar. Did he have 2 wives?

King Sagar had two queens, Sumati, the daughter of Rishi Kashyap, and Kesini, the daughter of Vidarbha king. Kesini had one son Asmanjas whereas Sumati had sixty thousand sons.
Can you highlight the story of Arundhati as it appears in MB?

No, Mandodari ji. This one is from the Mahabharat. It was these 60,000 sons who were burnt a sage. It was for these 60,000 Bhagiratha brought down the river Ganga to grant them salvation by washing over their shes.

Even now the ritual is followed - the bride is shown the constellation (they call it seeing the Arundhathi Star).

As I said I am slow today. 🥱🥱🥱 I am going to take a complete break from the forum until Monday. Deadlines coming up! Also, my mind is buzzing with all these mytho stories. 😆😆😆
