Do you or Chandra bhaiya know the story of Karkati? All I know that she was another wife of Kumbhakarna and after the terrible war between ram n Ravan in which Ravan dies and then few of the most loyal soldiers of Ravan escape along with Karkati (who was pregnant with Kumbhakarna's child ) in Sahyadri hills where Karkati's father , a tribal king gives all of them shelther. Karkati gives birth to Bhimasur who grows up to be a staunch enemy of Ram.
I want to know that does he fight with Ram??

No, I am not aware of the story of Karkati & Bhimasur - in fact, I had no idea that Kumbhakarna had a second wife. With all that sleep, when did he find time to marry beyond Vajramala? Nor did I hear of Rama ever fighting Bhimasur - in fact, after Ravan, the only war that Rama himself fought was when he decided to conquer Karupathadesh for Lakshman's sons.

When I was a kid, one of the Ramayan stories I read had it that after Indrajit's death, Ravan sent Vibhishan's son and Indrajit's son to fight the vanaras, and they were both killed by them. Did you ever know of this, and if so, from which version it was? I didn't know that either of them had sons, much less that they were sent into war by Ravan.

P.S. Congratulations on 600!!!!👍🏼👏

I think they showed this story in Om Namah Shivay which was aired on TV. I remember vaguely. Ravan & Kumbhakaran go to get Karkati's fathers help to fight the war against Ram. And Karkati is steadfast to marry Kumbhakaran. To get her father's help, Ravan agrees to Kumbhakaran marrying her. And they come back to Lanka with Karkati's father's army, but however get defeated By Ram.
Later on I remember Bhimasur says about attacking Ayodhya but then goes on capturing some other Raja & Rani kill them, but Lord Shiva intervenes, fights and kills Bhimasur.
If anyone remembers Om Namah Shivay, they may be able to say the story more clearly...

Was Karkati crying because Kumbhakarna fell asleep during their nuptual night, or because she got pregnant? 😆😆😆

Also, was she as gigantic as Kumbhakarna? Same question about Vajramala?

I found the story in Shiva Purana. This is the first time I'm reading it too. In the story I read, Bheema's mother's name was given to be Karkuti.
Bheema was a king (I don't know which place - it could be the tribal kingdom but not sure). One day, he asked his mother who his father was and where he was. For that his mother replied that his father was Kumbhkaran and that her first husband was Viraadh. She further told him that Viraadh, Kumbhkaran, Ravan and others were killed by Ram. She also told him that her father Karkada and mother Pushkani were burned in a homa fire when they tried to eat a sage. Bheema became terriblly angry and did severe penance (to please Lord Brahma) to acquire the strength and might to kill Ram. Lord Brahma appeared and gave the boon of immense strength and might to him. Bheema returned and told his mother of the boon he acquired and started his conquests.
Bheema imprisoned the king of Kaalaroopam named Priyadharma (or Priyamvadha in some versions) and his wife and took over the kingdom. He won over many kings and took over their kingdoms too. He then started a war with the Devas. The Devas worshipped Lord Shiva and pleaded him for protection. Lord Shiva appeared and told them that Bheema's end was near and he will be destroyed soon and then disappeared.
Priyadharma and his wife worshipped Lord Shiva continuously. They made a Linga out of the sand and worshipped it. When Bheema heard this, he came to them and said, "Let's see what your Lord can do . . ." and lifted up his sword to kill them. At that moment Lord Shiva appeared and shot the Naaga Paasha on Bheema. As a result, his sword was shattered into pieces. Lord Shiva told him to get away and if he ever tries to harm them (who were his devotees) he will be destroyed.
But Bheema collected his armies and waged a war at the Shiva Ganaas. Devrishi Narad asked if such a terrible war was necessary to kill this one Asura. Lord Shiva looked upon Bheema and his armies with complete fury and rage and they wre burnt to ashes.
Priyadharma was made the king of Kaalaroopam again. The Shiva Linga worshipped by him is known by the name of 'Bheemashankara'.
I did not find any information on how Karkuti (or Karkati) married Kumbhkaran or how she fled from Lanka and who the Tribals who sheltered her were.

Chandraketu, I too wonder when he had time to marry Karkati after Vajramala.
Vibhishan's son and Indrajeet's son??? 😲😲😲 I have never heard of that one . . .
Deepa ji, I must have missed the episode of Om Namah Shivaya or it might not have been telecasted in the channel I was watching. I was watching it in Tamil and they stopped it abruptly.
Ananya, congrats on hitting 600 👏👏👏

Vibs

Thanks for this account - it's nice to read this story. I love learning new items from mythology, and this one certainly is brand new to me.

I found it strange that he asked for the strength to kill Rama, but never actually went to war with him. Seems like that was a completely wasted boon.
