Wow, very interesting story. Thanks for sharing.👍🏼 So Draupadi is the incarnation of Maya Sita, or Swarga Lakshmi. I never knew this.

Thanks Deepa. I loved the story. I am learning so much from this forum. Chandra, I do not know the stories about maya Sita from Kurma puran, Agni puran, and the other purans. I only know that this was mentioned in the other discussion forum.

Sorry for the delayed response people. Was caught up with daily mundane routine. 😉
I guess from the story I posted and from all your replies to the post, I would probably infer this - Lakshmi is born as the real Sita from Bhudevi in the Ramavatar, and later as Rukmini in the Krishnavatar...
While Vedavati (though she also is an incarnation of Lakshmi) is reborn as the Maya Sita, and hrough this, probably Vedavati also lived to her wish of being the wife of Lord Vishnu (this is just my view). And then she is later born as Draupadi, but the story of Tirupati sort of proves this view wrong though.

I knew that in her previous life, Draupadi had asked for a good husband how Lord Shiva blessed her and she ended up with five husbands. But I have never heard that Draupadi was actually the Maya Sita. The reason this sounds incredible to me is that Maya Sita (as per the legends) was either Sita's shadow or a form of Goddess Lakshmi herself and this woman would never accept anyone other than Lord Vishnu for her husband. But Draupadi was wed to the Pandavas and not any form of Vishnu or atleast his shadow or something like that.
The story of Draupadi's previous life that I read long time ago depicted Draupadi asking Lord Shiva that she wanted to marry someone who was a person of Dharma, someone who was strong, someoen who was brave, someone who was handsome (and so on - she stated 5 qualities) and no sooner than she said this, Lord Shiva gave her the boon that she will wed 5 people with these 5 qualities. She was aghast and said that she wanted a single person with these qualities and not 5 different people. But once give, a boon or a curse cannot be taken back. Hence, she was reborn as Draupadi and married the Pandavas.
Another variation of the story said that Lord Shiva told her that all the qualities she asked for cannot be present in the same person and so she will marry 5 men with the qualities asked for (I doubt this as all Pandavas had all the qualites she mentioned but they excelled in one of the 5).
A vague memory of Draupadi's previous birth marrying 5 Indras who were just released from a curse - I am not sure of the details od where I have read that before. I'll post it if I get more information.

I've read that when shiva appeared in front of draupadi, she muttered, "husband" 5 times and shiva said that she would marry five men as she had asked for a husband 5 times.

Sita when puts her case after Rama tries to disown her saying that she was free to go anywhere she liked ; Sita says that Rama was accusing her fasely because he was committed to anger and thus acting worst than a common man (Laghuvena manushya)
Ram has nothing to say to Sita's counter arguments; he doesn't turn away his face as sensationalized in serial but his face is fixed on the ground with eyes full of tears (Adhomukham tato Ramam), He was angry yet sad having to put his beloved, chaste wife put all through this even knowing that she was innocent.
Ram is both angry and sad -in a turmoil not confused.

I Salute ur profound knowledge Ananya👏 . I cudnt participate much because m very busy. neways great discussion going on. I agree he was not confused. In earlier days ordeals were common way to give proof of innocence

I think Lord Ram was provoking her to give fire ordeal by saying those harsh words. he didnt say anything to her counter argument this shows that he said those words just to provoke her to give fire ordeal n he didnt really meant what he said. Sita did not enter fire to end her life. She said that if she is pure Agni must protect her. She too wanted to give ordeal to prove herself pure

😲 u flatter me gal, thanks. ofcourse Ram didn't mean what he said ....I think he did what he had to.
Today we have so many versions of Ramayana to read ,listen and see it on TV but that wasn't the case then ,as a king how else could Ram make it known to his subjects that Sita was innocent?
Throught Ramayana Sita is said to have been Ram's will so then this agnipravesha too might have been her will becoz she had a lot of self respect herself.
