Ooops, I overlooked this clause by Akhl 😲 - that we'll actually be in teams and have to debate 😆. Nonetheless, here is one more - almost along the likes of Sharath's suggestion clearly defining the demarcating lines between Valmiki and Tulsidas:

Did Rama (like Krishna) know (until Brahma revealed it to him) that he was an incarnation of Vishnu? Also, was it common knowledge, or knowledge that only a few rishis (like Vaisishtha, Valmiki, Vishwamitra, Agastya, et al)? {In Tulsidas, it's stated like it was common knowledge, whereas in Valmiki, this wasn't known except by a select few.} So what do you think?

do u really think if v take such a deep topic many members will b able 2 participate in it. it wud b better if v take a topic which can involve as many members as possible instead of a handful of us debating wid others being silent. if v can take sumthing like agnipariksha or other topic where there is a social element involved it may involve more no. of people.

Akhl

Since that is one of the ground rules, can we also stipulate that while discussing, one can not use what was shown in any of the serials or movies as evidence to support his/her contention, and that any case exhibits must be from the texts - be it Valmiki, Kamban, Tulsidas or any other translation (and specify which). That way, no arguments about whether any serial or other non historic depiction is accurate or not, and work simply from textual references. Also, no evidence like 'I heard this from my grandma or guru or whoever' - only textual sourcing.

Chandra, you are right. The debate will be based on the books. At the beginning of the debate, it will be specified which books to consider as authentic.

Wow, good list Chandra. I personally think #s 2,3,and 4 are the best. I would enjoy discussing those.
Sharath's topic is also good, but I think we already discussed it a few times in other threads. Here is another possible topic.
1. When Kaikeyi told Shri Ram the two boons she had asked King Dasharath, Dasharath told Shri Ram to revolt against him and seize the throne. Since King Dasharath himself told Shri Ram to seize the throne, would it have been wrong had he done so?
I'll try to think of more, but I think Chandra pretty much covered them all!😆

Please don't say that 😒

Actually, a subtext of the above - Lakshman then was ready to do just that, and revolt against Dasharath and Kaikeyi, and imprison them. Question - does his duty towards his elder brother exceed his duty towards his father?

There is a lot of controversy about the the Uttarkhand itself. There are many scholars who feel that uttarkhand was not written by Valmiki but added later on. That is a good point for debate if you guys are interested.

value of epics among youngster
i want to have discussion or debate .... on this topic...
i want to know the youngster take on the epics.... even though not here on Rf where we all love epic..and value the knowledge we gain from epics...but i have many who think they are of no use.....and didn't value...
one more thing in this competitive where pressure and tension are on the mount ppl divulge towards to wrong hings to overcome from stress......why they don't take this as an option to give relax to themselves...
i hope its not the offtrack topic.......
