That was where Sita took her vow, as evident from the last statement underlined

http://www.geocities.com/bhagvatjee/vraamaayan/kathaa/7vuttar/48sarg95.htm

At the same time Prithvi split and a throne came out of it. Devee Prithvi was sitting on that throne. Devee lifted Seetaa with Her both hands and the throne went to Rasaatal. Devtaa showered flowers. All public stood without even blinking their eyes in the Yagyashalaa.
Obviously, neither in the Ayodhya court nor in Valmiki's ashram. Good as they are, don't go by the serials.

P.S. Valmiki's ashram was in Chitrakoot, as in the Ayodhya/Aranya kand. However, given that when Shatrughan travelled from Ayodhya to Mathura, he stopped at Valmiki's ashram and did the sanskar for Kush & Luv, it's likely that the ashram fell in between these 2 cities. In short, it's safe to say it's in UP or MP.

thanku soooooooo much. d info is great.

ok i've one more ques... can any body tell me how the whole thing went... like first Luv Kush had a war over Ashwmedha then they recite the whole Ramayan in front of Ayodhya or its other way round

Sam

The sequence Akhl mentions is the way it appears in the serial. However, note that both these stories are mutually exclusive.

In Valmiki, no battle occurs between Kush-Luv and Rama's army (check my original links - the way that Kush & Luv got to the yagnashala is given - Valmiki took them there to sing the Ramayan). In fact, Valmiki describes them as very melodious singers who could conquer the hearts of those who heard them, but says nothing about their martial skills.

In Tulsidas, no recitation of the Ramayan occurs, and the only role Valmiki has in Tulsidas' account is to shelter Sita after she has been exiled. Also, here, Rama only asks Lakshman to get Sita to swear on her chastity, but no mention is made of doing it in front of the prajas - in fact, Sita did it in the presence of Lakshman, but in the absence of Rama, and after she was gone, Lakshman returns to Rama with Kush & Luv. (Personally, it's accounts like these on Tulsidas' part that make his account of things even harder to believe, let alone the fact that Valmiki was Rama's contemporary, whereas Tulsidas came several millenia later). Just as Valmiki is silent on what sort of warriors Kush and Luv were, Tulsidas makes no mention of their musical talents.

Raam's fight With Lav and Kush

(1) In Maanas - Although Maanas doesn't describe Raam's life after His crowning, but we hear a lot about the reference of the holding Ashwamedh Yagya horse by Lav and Kush and defeating Bharat, Lakshman, and Shatrughn by them in fighting while they wanted to get their horse back. But when Raam comes to fight with them, Seetaa requests Vaalmeeki Jee to stop Her children fighting with their father.

(2) In Raamaayan - But Vaalmeeki Raamaayan's story flow doesn't go that way. Then where does this reference come from?

But it would be wierd to show first a recitation of the Ramayan, followed by Kush & Luv capturing the yagna horse and waging war against Ayodhya. Don't ya think? 😉

P.S. I've always wondered why people dispute the Uttarkand part of Valmiki's. Ramayan, and thanks to Purvi for providing such an insight about how the written styles provoke such questions. Although that still begs the question - if the authenticity of the Uttarkand is in question, how does one know the history of Ravan and Vali, which is what constitutes the entire first half? And why would someone make up a story about Rama exiling Sita, which, if not adequately analyzed, would seemingly cast him in pretty poor light after what had so far been a valiant and glorious life?

back to the ques which i asked................
@ chanderketu... i agree withur viewpoint on this take......
@ sita and poorvi....
actually if we go by this point....then i've my ques on this that did Ayodhians follow the Ramji till there becoz in Ramanand sagar Ramayan... it was shown tht Sitaji asked to forgive all the Praja and whole of the praja infact apolozies to her, so did they follow Ramji till valmiki Ashram to apolozies Sitaji
ok i've one more ques... can any body tell me how the whole thing went... like first Luv Kush had a war over Ashwmedha then they recite the whole Ramayan in front of Ayodhya or its other way round

Hi! Ramayan still is very dear to many of us. I am one of them. As regards your query Valmiki Ashram is in Bihar and the place is now known as Valmikinagar. Earlier it was known as Bhaisalotan. It is in north west border of Bihar and Nepal.
