Re-cap : Rani maa gifts Rani a diamond pendant. Rani tells Rani maa about her intention of higher studies. Rani maa arranges for Rani to be home-schooled ( rather 'palace-schooled' 😆 ), Rani writes a letter to her family and sends them money, Sudarshan and Munshiji manage to fool Sumitra and get her to sign the wrong papers.
PART - 8 : SHE IS IN LOVE!! 😳
Sumitra has just affixed her thumb print on the paper when she hears "Namaste Sumitra behen". Everyone looks up. Masterjee is standing in front of them with his cycle besides him. Sudarshan, Munshiji and Daadi were so immersed in watching Sumitra's actions that they never noticed the arrival of Masterjee!!! Sudarshan and Munshiji look at him shocked 😲😲 when Sumitra says
Sumitra : Arre bhaiyya aap? Aaiye na.
As soon as Sumitra speaks, Munshiji comes to his senses and extending his hands towards Sumitra, quickly says
Munshiji : Bhauji, woh kaagaz......
Daadi suddenly grabs the paper and says
Daadi : Bahu, ee kaagaz jaraa masterjee ko dikhao. Ik baar woh padh le toh mann ko tanik saanti milegi.
Sudarshan and Munshi look at each other shocked and tensed!! 😲 😲 😒 Its like the ground beneath their feet has shifted!!! 😒 Munshi signals to Sudarshan. Sudarshan quickly gets up and says
Sudarshan : Amma, hum masterjee ko dete hai, kaagaz idhar laiye!
And he takes the paper from his mother and starts walking past Munshi to Masterjee. Just then Munshi gets up and purposefully crashes into Sudarshan spilling all the tea in his hand onto the paper!!!! 😈 The paper gets completely wet and stained!
Sudarshan (faking anger) : Arrerere, ee kaa kiyaa Munsi???? Poora kaagaz peh chai giraa dee!!! 😡
Munshi : Ram, Ram, Ram.....kshamaa kardo, bhaiyya! Pataa nahi kaise chai ka pyaala haath se phisal gayaa!! 😕
Daadi is eyeing them suspiciously when Sudarshan says
Sudarshan : Theek hai, theek hai! 😡 Ab yeh kaagaz toh ekdum bekaar ho gayaa. Kshamaa karo bhauji, yeh kaagaz phir se banvaana padega....Hum phir seh banaakar laavat hai.
Munshi also gets up and says
Munshi : Accha bhauji, ab hum chalat hai. Ram, Ram chachi, Ram Ram masterjee!
And they both leave. As soon as they go a little distance, they heave a sigh of relief 😳 and thank their stars that they barely escaped!!! Here Sumitra says to Masterjee
Sumitra : Kaise aanaa hua, bhaiyya?
Masterjee : Muh meetha karvao behen, Rani ki chitthi layaa hun!!
Sumitra (bursting into a huge smile) : KYA???? Rani ki chitthi? 😃
Daadi is very excited too!!! 😃 Masterjee quickly takes the letter out of his pocket and gives it to Sumitra. Sumitra and Daadi handle the letter as if they were touching Rani herself !!! Their eyes start brimming with tears. 😭 They look at it for a few moments and give it back to Masterjee.
Daadi : Jaldi padhkar bataa beta, Rani ne kaa likha hai chitthi maa.
Just then Munna comes running into the house to drink some water. He has been playing outside with some friends. He is immediately informed about Rani's letter. Munna jumps up excitedly and says
Munaa : Didi ki chitthi!!!! Mujhe dikhao, mujhe dikhao!!!
Masterjee shows him the letter and says
Masterjee : Dekha Munna, agar tum acche bacche ki tarah padhoge toh Rani didi tumhaare naam peh bhi chitthi likhegi jo tum khud padh sakoge! Bolo, mann lagaakar padhoge na?
Munna : Padhunga, masterjee!!! 😛
Then he goes and sits in his mother's lap and Masterjee starts reading the letter. It is a long letter and Daadi, Sumitra and Munna are hearing him spellbound, drinking up every word!!! They are very very happy to hear everything about Rani, about her helping Rani maa, about her education etc!!! Finally masterjee is done and says
Masterjee : Rani ne khat mujhe bheja taaki mei tumko padhake sunau. Aur saath saath yeh money order bhi bheja hai.
And he takes out Rs.1000 and gives it to daadi (It is Rani's 2 months salary!!) ( 👏 )
Daadi(very surprised) : Ee kaa hai?
Masterjee : Rani ko yeh paise bakshish mei mile, aur woh yeh aapko dena chahti hai!
Daadi and Sumitra start crying and Munna sees them crying and he starts crying too. 😭 Masterjee pacifies them and then giving them the letter leaves. All 3 of them keep glancing through the letter for a long time and remember Rani!
Back to the palace.....
Rani's classes start and progress very well. She is a very sharp student and Sharmaji is very impressed with her!! 🤓 She grasps anything she is taught within a very short time and her knowledge expands by leaps and bounds. And along with that her self-confidence also improves. 👍🏼 She is now in constant touch with her family and sends them money regularly. But she never tells them that she is working at the palace too. Everytime she tells them a different reason for how she got the money.
Parallelly Rani and Namrata's friendship also grows stronger and stronger. 👍🏼 Namrata is also in her first year of college and so she and Rani swap notes, sometimes study together without the Rani sahibaa knowing any of this stuff. Namrata finds in Rani a friend who helps her to feel like a normal teenager!! Namrata shares with her everything that happens in her college, about the guys in her class, about how she has a crush on a guy, leaving Rani very shy 😳 who had never heard anybody speak so openly!! She tells Rani about the latest fashions, gives her an insight into how fashionable the life of a princess can be. While Rani absorbs all this information, her feet remain firmly planted on ground!! She will be the same sweet, affable young lady that she always was! While she is very aware of her status in society, there is one aspect of her life that Rani does not have a control on anymore......and that is her feelings towards the King! 😳
She has been attracted to the King more and more. She realizes that she does not have eyes for anybody else!! The rules and restrictions of the palace and her duties will not give her many opportunities to be with the King, but the few opportunities that she gets, she will observe him secretly, getting to know him more and more. At first, Rani will fight a lot against these feelings but she will slowly succumb to them!! She gives up fighting as he invariably shows up every night in her thoughts as soon as she lies down after a long day's work and study!
And 4 more months pass so....
One day, two of the servant maids suddenly fall sick and being short-staffed, Laksmi requests Rani to help out in the kitchen a bit. Rani is working in the kitchen, when she hears a couple of other kitchen staff gossiping.
Help 1 : Sunaa, hai woh bahut sundar hai!!
Help 2 : Haan, meine bhi yahi sunaa hai. Lekin hamaare Raja saahab kuch kam hai kya? Donon ki jodi khoob jamegi!
The mention of "Raja saahab" will perk Rani's ears up and she will start listening to the conversation.....Rani starts understanding what they are talking about and it hits her like a thunderbolt!!! 😲. She is shocked 😲 and suddenly an unknown anger starts to build up in her!!! She goes to them and asks
Rani : Kiske baare mei baat kar rahi ho?
Help 1 : Arre Rani, sun ne mei aaya hai ki Rajaa saahab ka rishta tay ho rahaa hai!
And looking at Help 2 says
Help 1 : Toh kya sab tay ho gayaa hai kya?
Help 2 : Maaloom nahi...................
Rani cuts her and says irritantly 😡 : Jab poori tarah se maaloom nahi, toh kyun aisi baatein karti ho?
Help 2 looks at her surprised and says
Help 2 : Arre hum naukron ko yahaan wahaan seh hi toh baatien pataa chalti hai! Koi hame bulaakar thode hi kuch bataayega.
Rani resents this statement and is becoming furious. Her shock and frustration are coming out in the form of anger! 😡
Help 2 continues : Lekin itnaa pataa chala hai ke, kuch ek mahine mei sagaai hone ki baat ho rahi hai.
Help 1 : Lekin uss Rajkumaari ko hamaare mehel mei pehle kabhi nahi dekha?
Help 2 : Raaj parivaar ke niyyam ke anusaar, Raaja saahab, Raajkumaari ko sagaai ke din tak nahi dekh sakte. Lekin, dekhne ki jaroorat bhi kya hai? Aakhir Raajkumaari hai, sundar toh hogi hi......
Rani (blurts out angrily) : Yeh zaroori nahi hai ke Raajkumaari hai toh, sundar hi hogi!!! Aur sundarta tan se nahi, mann se hoti hai!!! 😡
Help 1 and 2 look at her surprised!
Help 1 : Arre Rani, itnaa ghussa kaahe ho rahi ho?
Help 2 : Wahi toh, tujhe kya hua??? Aur sundar ho na ho, lekin kisi Raaja ki shaadi, koi Raajkumaari se hi toh hogi na?
Rani (furiously) : Kyun?? 😡 Raaja ki shaadi, Rajkumaari se hi kyun honi chahiye??? 😡 Kya jo ladhki Raajkumaari nahi woh sundar nahi ho sakti? Kya jo ladhki Raajkumaari nahi woh susheel aur gunavati nahi ho sakti? Kya jo ladhki Raajkumaari nahi woh Rani banane ke laayak nahi?? 😡 Kya Raja ko bhi apne jeevan saathi chunane ka utnaa hi hak nahi hai, jitna kisi aur......... 😡
She suddenly stops. Help 1 and 2 are looking at her like she has lost it. She sees their shock and confusion and realizes that she is making a fool of herself!!!!
Help 1 : Arre, tu kyun itni mari jaa rahi hai??? Raaja kisi seh bhi shaadi kare, tujhe kya???
Rani (yelling) : Nahi, yeh nahi ho sakta!!!! Kyon ki, mei Raaja saahab seh...............
She checks herself instantly!!! She stops herself from saying anything more at the nick of the time!!! She suddenly turns and leaves abruptly leaving both the women looking at her like she has gone mad!! She leaves. They shake their heads and continue their conversation.
Rani rushes to her room, slams the door shut and leans on the door and completes the sentence
Rani : Kyon ki, mei Raaja saahab se pyaar karti hun! Bahut bahut pyaar karti hun!!!!! 💔
And the dam bursts and her feelings and tears flow out unceasingly!!! 😭 😭 😭 For all these months Rani has been denying the existence of this truth because she knew that it was going to bring nothing but pain to her!!! Everytime her thoughts had wandered to this topic, she had chided herself. She had time and again reminded herself that she was just another girl while he was the King!!! 😕 Eventhough it had hurt her immensly..... everytime she remembered him, she also forced herself to remember that he did not even know she existed !!! She reminded herself repeatedly, that this was one gap that can NEVER be bridged!!
But all her efforts were wasted!!! The act was already done....she was completely and hopelessly in love with him!!!!! Today, she finally faced this truth. 😳 This truth that came rushing out from the deepest of her concsiousness!!! And it came out because of the extreme anguish of having to loose him at the same moment when she had realized the truth that she could only belong to him and nobody else!!!!!
Rani does not have the stamina to stand anymore and so goes and sits on her bed, her heart feels like it is being wrenched out!!!! 🤢
Meanwhile the King gets a message that his father wants to meet with him. Yudi goes to meet his dad and finds Rani sahibaa to be present there too. He touches the old King's feet and says
Yudi : Pranaam, Raaja saahab!
The old King (with a smile) : Rajaa saahab, ab mei nahi, AAP hai!
Yudi (softly) : Pitaaji, mere liye hamesha aap hi Rajaa saahab the, aur rahenge! Aur choti maa hi Rani sahibaa rahegi.
The Queen puts on a fake smile but Yudi's words have not touched her heart. Yudi goes and touches her feet and wishes her too. Then he goes and sits near his dad. Yudi looks at his Dad. He has reasonably recovered from his ill-health and he is very happy to notice this 😊
The old King looks at his son with a lot of pride. His son had far surpassed his expectations and hopes and was a perfect King!!! But he does not see the burden that Yudi's heart is bearing!! 😕 He had taught his son so well about how a King should be, that his son is now able to hide his true feelings from his dad himself!!!!
Yudi was very responsible towards his legacy........... Nobody could have asked for a better King! But his heart yearned for freedom! He wanted to meet someone, whom he could completely depend on and trust her with his life!! He wanted to experience the amazing feeling of love! All through the years, he had met several beautiful women with whom he could have fallen in love but everytime the words his step-brother Nakul once told him, would spring into his mind and Yudi would check himself.
After one particularly nasty incident due to Nakul's casanova image, Yudi had made an attempt to reason with Nakul to control his behaviour, when Nakul had said to him
Nakul : "Chill, bro! Bhagwan kaa shukr hai ke, mei aap nahi hun! Agar mei Rajaa saahab ka badaa beta hota, toh aap hi ki tarah, meri zindagi bhi mujhse chin jaati!!! No women, No freedom, No fun!!!! You can't afford to have scandals but I can!!! Aapki zindagi, pitaaji jee rahe hai, lekin meri zindagi mei khudh jiunga, koi aur nahi!"
The old King : Arre, kahaan kho gaye aap? Kuch sunaa bhi maine kya kahaa?
His dad's voice brings Yudi out of the past into the present.........
Yudi : Kshamaa keejiye, Raaja saahab....aap kuch keh rahe the?
The old King smiles and says : Rajaa saahab, ab samay aa gayaa hai ke aap apni bahu ghar laaye. Har kisiko jeevan mei, saath ki zaroorat hoti hai. Ek Raaja ko bhi. Lekin ek Raaja ke liye yeh aur bhi mehetvapoorn hai ke woh ek aisi jeevan saathi paaye, jo ek Raani ka uttardaayitva sambhal sake aur aapka saath har kadam pe de sake.
Yudi shakes his head indicating that he understands what his dad is telling him.
The old King : Meine aur Rani sahibaa ne aapke liye ek Raajkumaari chun liyaa hai.
Yudi flinches at the words 'Chun liyaa hai", but his face is calm on the outside and nothing is visible to anybody!!!
The old King : Raajkumaari ka naam Yukta hai. Woh Rajaa Manick Rao Gaekwaad ki beti hai. Hamaare aur unke parivaaron mei kai saalon se dosti rahi hai. Hamaari yeh iccha hai ke ab yeh dosti, sambandhon mei badle.
Yudi does not say anything.
The old King (continues) : Mei jaanta hun, aap modern vichaar rakhte hai aur isiliye mei Raajkumaari ki ek photo mangaane ki koshish karunga. Lekin humne aur Rani sahibaa ne unhe dekha hai. Woh bahut sundar hai. Kyon, Rani sahibaa?
The Queen : Haan, woh bahut sundar hai aur har tarah se aapki Rani banane ke laayak hai.
Yudi just listens. Seeing him quiet, his father asks him
The old King : Aap kuch kahenge nahi?
For a split second, Yudi remembers Rani and her singing but crushes that thought and says
Yudi: Jaisi aapki angya, Rajaa saahab!
The old King is happy. That is the exact answer he wanted to hear!! ( 🤢 ) Yudi again wishes both of them and leaves. He walks back to his room and in the privacy of his room allows himself the freedom of his feelings!!!! He had felt so suffocated in there! 😔 Another important decision of his life was taken based on assumptions. Yudi remembers his dad's words "Woh bahut sundar hai" and thinks
Yudi : Mujhe tann ki sundartaa nahi, mann ki sundarta chahiye!!! Mujhe woh chahiye jismei itni samajh aur saahas ho ke, agar mei galti kar rahaa hun...toh mujhe rok sake!! Mujhe woh chahiye jo apnaapan aur pyaar pehchaan sake.......phir woh mehel mei ho yaa ek gareeb ki kutiyaan mei!! Mujhe woh chahiye jo apni pehchaan mujhse banaaye, mere Raaja hone seh nahi!!!
Yudi is frustrated initially. And then he slowly becomes practical. He thinks "Meine toh abhi tak Raajkumaari ko dekha bhi nahi, jaana nahi. Phir opinion kaise form kar sakta hun? Shaayad unmei yeh sab khoobiyaan ho? Shaayad woh mei jaise chahta hun, waise hi ho?"
Yudi decides he is going to have an open and positive mind and decides to form his opinion about Princess Yukta after meeting her.
Next part..........Yudi sees Rani 😳 and is bowled over 😉
