It also makes sense they would think Balram means himself because he's the elder son, even if someone else had said what he actually said.

Maybe they'll think that after being disguised as Baldevi and having to work in the kitchen, Balram now understands how much work the mums do to keep them fed and looked after, and so they need help. And he wants to make sure they don't ask him to help, with his newfound kitchen skills! 🤣

And they might think that after being disguised as a girl himself, Balram would like to have a real one around to hang out with! 🤣
