So this Second Shot is dedicated to our little darling, Riddhi, just because !😉

Second Shot :

As Asad was about to read more, he heard a feminine voice calling out to him, "Mr. Sheikh ?"

Grudgingly, he closed the diary and impulsively hid it under his jacket, he knew it was wrong, he should be giving the diary back and not keep it. Certainly not read it, but the urge was just too big. He wanted to get to know this girl. He had to.

**

Later that night, as Asad sat on his home office, trying to get some work done. His thoughts always went back to that girl he had seen. He was curious and he was trying to hold back from reading her diary. But then he couldn't take it anymore and went to bed with the diary in hand.

He kept making excuses for himself, "I should return this diary but how am i going to return it if i don't know the owner's name ? How will i look for her without knowing her name ?"

With these excuses, he opened the diary and traced his fingers over the words of the poem, all afternoon it was all he could think of. Somebody who had so much depth was hard to find these days. This poem expressed her feelings but anybody who had lost someone could relate to it. In fact he didn't know anybody who wouldn't be touched by this poem. This poem gave also way to other thoughts which went deeper than other superficial things.

As he turned a page, he saw a name written on the top right-hand corner, 'Zoya Farooqui'.

He tested her name, "Zoya..." he liked the sound of it.

He knew he should stop and close the diary and give it back as soon as possible. It was bad manners and it was also a breach of privacy but he couldn't help it, once he started reading he couldn't stop.

The first essay was dated of April, 18th 2013.

'This diary had been given to me by Abbu, saying that it might help me to express myself. But the people to whom i want to talk to just gave me a diary to write my thoughts. A month has passed since i came to Apne Center and i can already feel the detachment in my family when they come to visit...'

Asad read the diary all night long, his eyes sometimes tearing with Zoya's words. He discovered that she was also an acid victim just like Nikhat. He learned that even though Zoya had become depressed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), she hadn't lost hope, she hadn't given up. This was the journey of a fighter, her journey had been a little lonely but she didn't give up. It was a very interesting and inspiring journey for other acid victims who were losing hope. Her speech wasn't fake and she truly meant what she wrote. If only Nikhat could have read this diary, she would have known how to deal with her pain...

While reading her diary, Asad went through every stages, he smiled at goodwill, he teared up at the hardships and anger towards those who treated her differently.

At the end of the diary he found another picute of Zoya, but this time it was after the incident. Asad didn't flinch. Most of Zoya's scars were on her right profile, she had rosy scars on her left profile in drops, as if she had been splashed. However, even though her right profile was scarred, Alhamdulillah, the scars hadn't touched her eyes nor her lips. She had a big scar from her cheekbone down to her jawline, her forehead had also been affected from her eyebrow to the beginning of her hair.

Despite what others might think, Asad still thought that her beauty was the same. Sure, she had now scars but that didn't lessened her beauty but only made her more real. Beauty was something he could find anywhere, however a soul was unique, and the light coming from Zoya's... He would happily take the risk.

Asad didn't know what it was from her that was pushing him towards her, from the moment he had seen her jumping around, he had wanted to talk to her. Then, the moment she had lashed out on him, he knew, she wasn't the frail type of girl, she was one of those girls who was always ready with a quick reply. Tonight, after reading her diary, he felt like he knew her since forever.

He smiled, he wanted to get to know her better and he was determined to do just that.

**

The next day, Asad decided to give Zoya back her diary. It wasn't fair of him in the first place to have read her diary, it was an invasion of privacy.

Even if he could have had her diary delivered, he felt the need to go to Zoya and apologize for having read her personal thoughts.

As he entered by the gate of Apne Center into a garden, he smiled at the sound of children playing around. Because Apne Center had an annex building being Bhopal's orphanage.

Little boys were running around playing footfall. He smiled, watching them play together. The boys were around the age of eight, but when he saw one of the child shorter and younger than the others, maybe five years old, he didn't think it was fair and decided to butt in.

As he walked towards the little boy, he asked him his name and he replied with a scowl by, "Why should i tell you ?"

Asad grinned, "Just because i want to know your name..."

The little boy answered by, "Asad Sohail."

Asad Ahmed Khan threw his head back and laughed. If Nikhat would be here today she would have laughed along with him, because this mini-Asad was the exact replica of him when he was younger. Ambitious, moody, determined and ready to face the world bang on.

Although Asad Ahmed Khan had laughed, the mini-Asad was scowling even worse than before, thinking that this big man was making fun of him.

"Why are you laughing ?! Do you even know what that means ?!" The little boy got angry and put his hands on his hips.

Asad Ahmed Khan bent down to his haunches and explained himself with a grin, "I wasn't making fun of you. It's just that my name is Asad too and when i was your age, i used to be just like you..."

The little boy relaxed and his lips twitched, "Your name is Asad too ?"

Asad nodded and stood up, looking at the other running boys, "You wanna play football ?"

The little Asad got angry again, "Yes but they run too fast, i can't reach the ball like this !"

Asad stifled his smile and asked, "What would you need to be able to play and win ?"

The little boy frowned and thought deeply, "I need to be taller and run faster..."

The little boy looked up at Asad who was smirking and wiggling his eyebrows, "What do you say to teaching them a lesson ?"

The little boy grinned and held up his hand for Asad to high-five which he did.

Asad Ahmed Khan bent down for Asad Sohail to climb on his shoulders and the big Asad started running around, getting the ball and making scores over and over again.

**

Unknown to them, there was someone staring at both.

Zoya who had been sitting outside watching the boys play, hid behing a pillar when she saw the paint-man from the previous day.

Before her incident, she would have thought that the man had come for her, to see her again. But now, she couldn't believe it, he must have come for some work or something other related.

She smiled and laughed when he picked Asad up on his shoulders and started running around.

This was a good man, yesterday he had saved her from falling and today he was playing with a lonely little kid just because.

Zoya smiled, this was a good and handsome man. He could have any girls he wanted. She was nothing special, on the contrary, she was scarred and next to him she would look like a charity case. She wasn't saying that out of self-pity but what it would actually look like.

But even then, she was frozen in place, she couldn't walk away from the scene in front of her.

**

After a game well won by both Asad, they both laughed and high-fived. As he let him down his shoulders, he asked him about what he was here for.

"Okay Mr. Sohail, i need a favor, would you mind doing that for me ?"

Asad Sohail thought about that for a few seconds, "What's in it for me ?"

Asad blinked and then laughed nervously, "I just made you win this game..."

The little boy shrugged and replied, "I didn't ask for you to help me... Now it's you that need something and according to what that is, i'll ask what i want..."

Asad was taken aback by the seriousness of the little boy, and tried, "Why don't i hire you later in my company when you get older ?"

Asad thought that this was a good deal since how good of a businessman Mr. Asad Sohail was being.

"Do i look stupid to you ? You say this and then you will forget..."

The adult held himself back from groaning in annoyance, "What would sir like, then ?"

The little kid showed all his teeths by grinning, "Ice-cream !"

Asad chuckled and mumbled, "Of course you would want an ice-cream...", then held his hand out, "Deal !"

Asad Sohail shook his hand, "Deal !"

Asad Ahmed Khan sighed, "Okay then, can you tell me where Ms. Zoya Farooqui is ?"

At that the little boy shrugged, "She was just there when you came !" He pointed his little finger towards the entrance of Apne Center.

Zoya who was still hidden behind one of the pillars, her eyes widen when little Asad pointed where she was standing. Her heartbeat accelerated and she tried to find a way to get away. This man had the remembrance of her being somewhat nice looking. Zoya didn't want to see the disappointment in his eyes, the pity she had accross to hate.

"But now where is she ?" Asad asked a little too impatiently.

The little boy shrugged, "I don't know."

The adult sighed, "Okay then, thanks."

As Asad started to walk away, he was stopped by the little boy, "Where is my ice-cream ?"

Asad startled, "But you didn't tell me where she is..."

"So what ? She was standing there before you came..."

"Yes but she's not there anymore..."

"That's not my fault !"

Asad groaned and tried to keep walking but the little boy wanted his ice-cream and he was determined to get it so he deliberately started crying loudly.

Asad's eyes widened and when everybody started to stare at them, he relented and agreed, "Okay, okay, i'm going to get you an ice-cream but you have to stay here !"

The little boy agreed and Asad mumbled something about kids of these days being evil.

**

After Asad got the little boy the ice-cream, he went to look for the real purpose of his presence in this place. But after looking around and asking people, he couldn't find her.

But when he was about to give up, he went to look back into the store room. He saw that the paint from the previous had been cleaned up. He smiled at the thought.

As he was about to exit the storeroom, he saw her reflection on a piece of glass. She was hiding behing some kind of almory.

He stopped for a second to look at her curled up figure, hiding and he saw the difference between this person who was so self-counscious and had so many hang-ups, which was so unlike the firecracker he had met the day before.

Even though he had seen her, he didn't have the heart to make her even more self-counscious so he spoke from where he stood, "Today i came to return this diary to you, you had left it here when you had left and i won't lie to you. Yes, i read it. On one hand, i'm sorry for invading your privacy this way but on the other hand, i'm not sorry at all because this diary got me to know you... Unlike what you think, i understand what you are going through. I'm not saying this just because i read your diary but because my sister, Nikhat, was also an acid victim but unfortunately she wasn't as strong as you. She committed suicide a few months after the incident. I just wanted to say bravo to you that i understand and this didn't make you ugly in any ways but made you more real... I'll see you soon, Zoya..."

After saying what he had to say, Asad left the diary just next to the door on a shelf, where she couldn't miss it.

Zoya was left speechless, she didn't know what to say, on one hand she felt betrayed and disappointed that someone had read her diary but on the other hand, his words had deeply touched her. She didn't know if she was supposed to be angry or happy, upset or intimidated. All she was at the moment was speechless.

But when she opened her diary, a note fell out of it, she picked it up with a frown, it wasn't there before, so she opened it and what lay inside took her breath away all over again.

'In a world so big I come across creations that take my breath away

In a life so full I walk around taking in everything it has to give

It's when I stop to cease the moment I realise it's nothing short of a beautiful mirage

A place where dreams are dreamt, wishes are made and desires fill my entire being

A place I know that only exist in my imagination a place where I am free to be and feel as I want to

A place that makes you smile in happiness and then makes you cry in reality

I live life as it is what I lack is my reason to live

A reason I am yet to find, a reason I can hold and define as mine

Fulfilment comes with in many forms for me it's what's inside that matters the most

If I dare to dream I dream of you

If I wish for anything it is only you

If my heart desires it desire to be with you'

**

Very Good and Well written part Bano...
You know if i was at Asad's place and if i had someone diary like this with me...and i was as attracted to that person like in this situation...i would have done the same thing...😆
I know it is bad manners...but kya karein Control hota laha hai jab...
Khair on a serious note...
Yes their are Survivors like Zoya who fight all the odds and still live their life...( Here is a fact , one such girl from India actually walked the ramp in NY few days back )...but sadly their are some girls who are like Nikhat also who give up to the pressure of society and also lack of proper support...
Asad meeting Asad , i have read this for the first time...and for the first time Elder one got to know how annoying he is from the younger one...that part was good...but yes kids are cute but are annoying to...but this is also a truth that they are cute till everything is going according to our will and when they start going against us they become annoying...😆
I think the confrontation part was very good...but i also think Zoya ko thoda aur time lena chaiyeh kuch bhi sochne mein...but should also scold Asad next time when he meet her for reading her Diary without permission...😈
Liked reading this part...
Continue soonish...
