Khan Mansion:
The three of them were sitting at the dining table. Dilshaad lost in her own world, playing with the food on her plate while Aisha and Asad were engaged in their own conversation.
Aisha- I just hope that I get a placement at the hospital on my own. I really just want to know that I earned it on my own and that my younger brother (rolled her eyes at him as she put emphasis on younger) my rich and spoiled younger brother
Asad-(tongue in cheek, as he continued staring ahead of himself eating his dinner with a dead straight face) who is more successful than you will ever be in life (Aisha slapped his arm playfully)
Aisha- that my rich and spoiled younger brother did'nt buy my place as an intern at the hospital.
Asad- But you know I will if you don't get in on your own. The position is your's Aish. One way or another. We had a deal, remember? (Aisha nodded) it's not that I don't want you to dream big or chase after your dreams Aapi. I'd be forcing you to go chasing after them if you didn't yourself. But you need to understand that I can't let you leave me or be away from my sight for long. I wouldnt be able to live in peace without seeing you come home safe and sound every night. I know it may be selfish, regressive even but I swear it's out of love. The world is a HORRIBLE place aapi and-
Aisha- I KNOW ASAD, RELAX (laughed at his dead serious apologetic look and pouted as she saw him staring sadly at his plate) Look Asad, stop beating yourself and over analyzing every situation. Trust me, I have no bad feelings in my heart. Main bhi tum logon ko chorkar kahin nahin jaana chahti. I feel touched and truly blessed Asad ke mujhe khuda ne itna pyaara bhai diya hai. Haan ziddi Bhai diya hai par pyaara none the less. Jo mera chota sa chota sapna poora karne ke liye kissi bhi had tak jaa sakta hai, jo mujhse itna pyaar karta hai, meri itni fikar karta hai. If anything, it makes me love and respect you even more and besides I've come to terms with obeying orders from you your highness. Maine aur Ammi ne yeh kabka maan liya hai ke tumne jaane khudko kab iss ghar ka bara maan liya hai jab ho tum sabse chote aur hum tumhare aage sirf haar hi sakte hain, haina Ammi?
Asad- besides, the hospital runs on my money as it is. Technically, I'm writing your Paycheck so I shud get a say in who gets employed there and who doesnt right? Haina Ammi? (Since she didn't respond again he looked over at her worriedly)
Aisha- Ammi, sab theek to haina? (No response)
Asad- Ammi, kuch huwa hai kya? Ammi-
Dilshaad- (snapped out of trance of sort and leaned towards the ground with her hand outstretched as if reaching out to a child) Shawn (Aisha and Asad looked towards each other surprised and a bit taken aback as Dilshaad recoiled her hand and looked towards both of them taking in a deep breath to gather courage)
Asad- Aaj itne saalon baad aapko yeh naam kahan se yaad agaya Ammi? Aapto bachpan mein yeh bulati thin mujhe..aaj achanak aisa kya hua ke aap-
Dilshaad- Tumhare abbu ka phone aaya tha. Woh kal aa rahe hain. Tumse milne. Tumhara khaal jaane. (She dropped the bomb directly and to Asad it seemed as if someone had just set fire to his whole world and everything he held dear)(He stared at his mother. Disbelief etched on every inch of his handsome face as he struggled to find his voice and control the raging emotions iwthin)
Dilshaad-(her eyes filled with tears seeing his confusion and frustration) Asad beta-
Asad- Kis haq se woh yahan aa rahe hain Ammi? Unhone SOCH bhi kaise liya ke woh yahan aa sakte hain, humme phone kar sakte hain, humm-
Dilshaad- Asad woh bas dekhna- (he leapt to his feet all of a sudden making the dining table shake and all the dishes rattle starting Dilshaad and Aisha who also leapt to their feet in fear)
Asad- kya dekhna chahte hain woh? Ke bina baap ke bache kaise palte hain? AB kya dekhne aa rahe hain woh?
Dilshaad- Asad-
Asad- NO WAY AMMI. NO WAY! Woh insaan, iss ghar mein EK KADAM nahin rakhega.
Dilshaad- Woh tumhare abbu hain Asad
Asad- WOH MERE ABBU NAHIN HAIN!! (The words echoed in the air for what seemed like a lifetime as Asad stared into his mothers crying face. Enraged beyond anything. Aisha stared between them, scared. Asads face failing to hide the hurt, disbelief and pain he had lived through for the last 25 years and Dilshaad couldn't bare to look him in the eye)
Dilshaad- Kuch bhi ho Asad..woh kal aa rahe hain-
Asad- MERE GHAR MEIN woh insaan kadam nahin rakhega Ammi (Aisha got chills as she heard the underlying danger in his calm and collected voice which wasn't a notch higher than a whisper but Dilshaad seemed oblivious to it)
Dilshaad- Main..Main haan bol chuki hoon Asad (she closed her eyes as she saw his heart break into a million pieces as her words sunk in)
Asad- (broken whisper) Theek hai. Aane dejiye unhe, par aap mujhse koi umeed mat rakhiyega ke main unse miloonga (and without saying or listening to another word he stormed off to his room banging his door so hard Dilshaad and Aisha were sure the door had come off its hinges. That bang was followed by another crashing sound of glass breaking in his room. Dilshaad slumped in her seat, breaking down herself and Aisha who had tears running down her own face went rushing over to her and enveloped her in a hug).
(While in his bedroom, Asad had angry tears running down his cheeks as one painful memory after another hit him with such a crippling force, he felt like the same 5 year old child running around begging for money. The image of him, dripping in his own blood with injuries one wouldn't wish on their mortal enemy sitting in a small cold dark room huddled alone in a corner, haunted him. He screamed in agony as if he were actually reliving that moment. Ripping his own hair out in frustration he picked up the nearest thing he could find. A chair, and flung it across the room, breaking it. After that, anything and everything he could get his hands on, followed the same fate. Once he had destroyed his entire bedroom, he stared into the broken mirror of his dressing table. Staring at the broken boy that stared back at him. Shaking with rage, the only one thought running through his mind was "HOW DARE HE?")

Kasauli Graveyard:
There was an eerie silence in the air. Something felt very off about the night and the area. Given that things would generally feel off in a graveyard, but there was something a little too off about this night. It was as if there wasn't a single soul in the area for thousands and thousands of miles. There was pin drop silence in not just the immediate area but the whole city. The entire graveyard was empty and abandoned except for Zoya alone who was sitting in front of a grave. Dressed in a white lehnga with a white choli and dupatta, her lehnga embroided in white with silver stones embedded in the work, a sleeveless cropped choliand silver chooriyan in both arms. Her hair open she looked nothing less than an angel. A fallen angel because she was crying inconsolably as she rested her head on her knees. The big bouquet of flowers on the grave in front of her testimony enough that the person had once meant a lot to her)
Zoya- I'm sorry. I hope you can understand why I'm about to do this and somewhere I know and I believe that you would've wanted the same as well. And if not, then I hope you can atleast find it in you to forgive your dimple (smiled a bittersweet smile remembering that nickname as she touched the foot end of the grave) I love you and (her voice breaking) I miss you. You have no idea how much (a fresh wave of tears hit her really strongly at that point causing her to cry even harder than she already was.
What felt like hours later the shrill ringing of her cell phone brought her out of her emotional breakdown. The caller ID read 'Aapi' and taking a minute to steady her voice and compose herself, she answered the call. But before she could even get a chance to say hello, her Aapi began blasting her off)
Aapi- ZOYA FAROOQUI!! Where in the HELL are you!! Raat ke 12 bajne ko aa rahe hain. 9 ghante pehle tum mujhe apna lehnga try on karke dekha rahee thee and I was helping you pick out chooriyan to go with the outfit. Aur phir achanak tum wahan se ghayab ho gayee? DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW WORRIED I AM?? WE ALL ARE!! Your brothers are losing their mind trying to trace you down, tumhe kuch idea hai iss waqt shehr mein kya haalat hain?? Poore shehr mein curfew lag gaya hai Zoya, we're in the middle of a gang war and your on the streets?? ZOYA, KUCH BOLOGI AAGE SE TUM KAHAN HO (Zoya could tell Zeenat had been crying inconsolably but she couldn't tell her where she was even if she tried because she couldn't seem to find her voice. From the minute Zeenat had started talking Zoya had gone pale. Her whole body going numb as situational awareness began setting in. She was in an abandoned graveyard. Alone. In the middle of the night. Dressed to attract attention and she was just now realizing how empty and abandoned the city really was. There was not a soul in sight or sound in the air)
Zoya-(shaky voice) Aapi aap fikar mat kariye. Main theek hoon..aur..aur main ghar hi aa rahee hoon (just as she heard her Aapi begin screaming again she shut the phone rushing to her feet at once, trying to look for the way she had come to get out of there. She wrapped her dupatta around herself tighter and then made a run for it)
The farther and farther she ran into town she felt her heart sink deeper and deeper. There were so many times her body had nearly given up due to fear, dehydration and starvation but she forced herself to stay awake. She had to make it home. She just had to. She couldn't give up NOW. She laughed at the irony of her life. When she didn't mind giving up God didn't let her and now that she HAD to stay alive he was testing her like this? and this..what was this? What was this place, this city? Kasauli was unrecognizable. There wasn't a single soul in sight tonight. The city was in dead silence apart from the sounds of raging gun shots and blasts in the distance. There was fire everywhere, which was only adding to her difficulties as she tried to stay clear of it. What was happening? Why was the city burning like this and why were the people here letting it? Why wasn't anyone doing anything to stop what was happening. As these thoughts ran through her mind, she didn't even realize when she entered an area that was marked with a red flag on one end and a black on on the other. The war zone. She masked half her face with the dupatta tighter hoping against hope she survived this. But as she heard the gunshots suddenly way too close to her, from all around, she froze. Blood froze in her veins. Her heart nearly leapt out of her body as she saw persons in the near distance before her, engaged in a gun battle. There were people dressed in all black on one side, young boys if one was to judge by their body shape, size and demeanour. Their hoods up, black gloves on, not a inch of skin visible on them. While on the other end there were people, uncles more like it, dressed in typical gangster attire firing back at them. She stared. Traumatized. In shock, as one of the fat uncles caught sight of her and screamed...
Uncle- EY!! Woh dekh, CHOKRI NE SAB DEKH LIYA BE..HUM SAB KE CHEHRE- (as her flight or fight response kicked in, Zoya turned on her heels and fled from there as fast as she could. The last thing her mind registered was a bunch of them, coming charging towards her)
Meanwhile -
Dilshaad: (sitting on the prayer mat with her hands raised in prayer, tears running down her cheeks) Allah, mere bete ne zindagi mein bauhat saare gham dekhe hain. Bauhat dukh, bauhat zulm bardaasht kiya hai. Ab jaake usse thora sukoon mila hai khuda, khuda main apne bete ke sukoon ki, uski khushiyon ki bheeg maangti hoon aapse khuda. Please, please mere bete pe reham kijiye. Usko itna mat azmayee ke woh jo thora bauhat samete hue hai khudko woh bhi bhikar jaye, toot jaye. Allah, please uski zindagi mein koi farishta bhej dein jo usko bacha sake. Khud se bacha sake usse. Jinn tanhayeen mein aur andheron mein khoya chala jaa raha hai who, unn mein se bahar nikal paye usse. Usse jeena sikha sake, hasna sikha sake, pyaar karna sikha sake. Jo usse sambhal le. Please mere khuda, mere bete ko khudse bacha lijiye.

He wasn't sure if he was seeing right. He adjusted the handkerchief around his face tighter and adjusted his hood a little. He was sure he had seen an angel in white run into the mosque just now but she seemed to have disappeared. He was looking through the architectural gaps in the outer wall of the mosque trying to catch a glimpse of her but he couldn't seem to find her. Maybe it was just his imagination running wild. He shook his head turning around to leave. He had more important things to focus on anyway. But just as he had turned around, something caught his eye and his gaze went flying right back to the wall of the mosque. Those sinful, kohl lined eyes, making him grip the bars in the wall tightly as he gasped audibly. His heart beating wildl as she blinked innocently. Her eyes wide with fear at the moment but still so alive, so divine that he felt a craving arise within him. For what? That He had no idea. She averted her eyes, her face still covered with the dupatta much to his annoyance and she moved ahead a little. He found his feet mimicking her action almost immediately, on their own accord and as he did her gaze flew back to the window colliding with his. They both kept walking side by side, peeking high and low through the small gaps in the wall but not once breaking eye contact. Both their hearts beating a hundred miles an hour for some reason and the intimacy of their actions erupting goosebumps on both their skins. Suddenly a loud scream ran through the air.
Man- MASJID MEIN DEKHO. SHAYAD WAHAN CHUPI HOGI!! (Zoya gasped, immediately turning away from the window. But just as she did, she felt her body collide into a rock hard wall before a hand clamped over her mouth, turning her around in one swift motion so she was leaning into a rock hard wall. A well built body. With her back leaning into his chest, while his other arm wrapped around her shoulders holding her flush against his body. She felt his nose skim through her hair before it reached the tip of her earlobe and her whole body shuddered in response as she felt his warm breath tickle her skin. She could smell his own musky scent mixed with traces of cologne and she felt her eyes rolling to the back of her head..as he-)
Stranger- (whispered) Shhh (into her ears)
(She felt her legs give way as he dropped both his hands, running them excruciatingly slowly down the length of her bare arms. A current sapped through her, a tingle reaching all the way down to her toes as her whole body erupted in goosebumps as he laced his fingers with hers, covering her small pale cold hands with his large and warm, gloved ones. She heard her heart hammering so loudly, she was sure he could hear it. Then without warning she felt him spin her around and shove her back into a dark corner where there was no light at all and he practically lunged forward leaning his entire body into her.
They stood body against body. His body covering hers completely. Her arms held up on both side of her head by his. Their chests touching. She could hear his heart knocking about in his chest and she was glad to know it was just as wild if not more than hers. They could feel each others breath on their necks making the hair at the back of his neck stand up and her lips trembled in response. Finally the voices that had closed in on them, causing him to take such drastic action died down, meaning the men had left. She felt him kind of slump into her, relieved. She felt him gulp and all of a sudden their hands were interlocked on both sides of her head where he had interlaced his fingers with hers again in a deathly grip, causing sparks to fly in and all around her. There was that delicious tingle that spread all the way down to the nerves in her toes. Slowly she felt him make an effort to move his head back a little, his breathing harsh and ragged as he did..Zoya felt her eyes close and lips part on their own accord. She could feel the intensity of his gaze on her and knew he was staring at her making her body shudder involuntarily yet again. And then things seemed a bit brighter. Aas if a flame of sorts had been lit. Nothing in comparison to the fire that had already enlightened within and between the two of them, but a flame none the less. She couldn't find it within her, to open her eyes. And then she heard him speak..
Stranger- (extremely husky, kind of slurred voice) Mashallah. (Her eyes snapped open. She looked sinful. The way her hair was smeared across her face sticking to it. Her beautiful plump red lips parted as if tempting him, testing him and inviting him all at once. Her heavy breathing, the goosebumps all over her skin, the rise and fall of her chest and the current that passed through him with every touch. He could swear this girl had been sent here especially to destroy him, because in this moment she alone unlike any other before or after her had the power to do so.)
(Her gaze collided with his and this time directly. She opened her eyes to find herself staring into a pair of intense chocolate brown eyes, that seemed darker than they would normally appear. She found herself subconciously taking a step back because that is how taken aback she was. Except she had no space to move back to. Sshe was completely backed up into the wall behind her. His eyes. Beautiful. Intense. Innocent. Haunted. So haunted that she had to look away and close her eyes. She knew those eyes were now permanently etched into her memory and she would never be able to unsee what she saw in them or the sheer beauty of them.
That's all she would remember of this stranger and the strange emotions he was evoking within her. Obviously because they were the only feature of his she could see. Half his face was covered by a black cap and the other by a black handkerchief. She could see the shine of the silver chains he wore in his neck, the black leather gloves he wore, the military boots and black cargos low on his hips. That was sinful. She looked away closing her eyes gasping for air as she tried to calm her heartbeats down. All of a sudden a loud terrifying scream of 'RUN' resonated through the air and before she could hiss in pain over the chooriyan he suddenly snapped on her wrist as the scream startled him, or cry over the pain and blood..she found her hand clasped tightly in the strangers as he kicked open the door and she found herself being tugged along. He made a run for it through the forest behind the mosque. The moon shining brightly in the sky amidst a blanket of stars. It was a beautiful night marked with both love and evil.
A loud blast resonated through the air and Zoya felt herself flying forward along with the stranger just as they had began running across the long bridge. It's intensity causing them both to go flying in the air just as the stranger wrapped his arms around her waist securely and the two landed roughly on the bridge, rolling together as one. Their limbs intertwined, eyes closed, hearts stopped beating and none of them breathing, until the momentum caught up and they stopped rolling. The stranger laying on top of her.
After what seemed like hours he hesitantly lifted himself with the support of his hands and looked down at the angel in his arms whose dupatta had gotten lost in the blast and her face was now covered with the thick blanket of her lush silky hair which he had been craving to run his fingers through. With a shaky hand, still unable to regulate his breathing from the intensity of everything that had occurred in the span of the last hour he moved her hair away from her face only to feel chilled to his bones as the face of the now fainted angel in his arms, beneath him, came into view. Making his heart stop beating and his mind stop functioning. He had definitely lost tonight. In more ways than one.
