If she does indeed have a brother that could go two ways. After all side track drama banta hai na..

For all we know bhai ko mention kiya hai so that we may have that knowledge in the back of our minds. Later they can either quietly write him out or bring him into the story as another plot device. Writers of shows have been known to set things up like that.

oh yaa definitely. bhai ka naam liya toh bhai zaroor appear karega ...jab cvs ko lagega they have nothing to show on main storyline and show needs tadka...and thus drag for some more months or open a new branch and promote that bhai and some other girl / kainath as parallel leads and show them so much that the original leads will get eclipsed ...the bhai can be villain too, all will depend upon gul mata's mood and trp politics !
