Jannat is a split personality

Something was really nagging at me with the resurfacing of Sanam after the accident, and then making way for Jannat again. I couldn't quite place it then.
But finally today it hit me.

Jannat is a split personality. 🤣 I am laughing because I've grown up watching American soaps which have used this for deliciously soapy tracks and stories.. Except here there is no rhyme or reason even in a soap-y manner. Only thing makers are adamant about and stick to with guts, is their insistence regarding a certain character.

Everything else, they are just 🤪 🤪

P.S. there is no point in writing or putting any thought into this. Which is why I am not bothering to once again point out the all the flaws, the annoying things, and the makers lack of aplomb even in dealing with SaHil.

All they have is some kind of twisted concoction with no substance

😆 Jannat.
Like SJ herself said, Jannat is a fictional character. (Sanam and Ahil are not, mind U.😉😆)

So Jannat is a fictional character in a fictional story.

I mentioned this elsewhere.

Sanam is caged- trapped in a poet's imagination...she knows not the way out of that wonderland. She thinks she belongs there, and the moment the reality of that wonderland is questioned, she gets agitated.

She seeks answers...and is faced with the same answer over and over again...there is no land beyond the poet's imaginary land which has become so boring and lonely for her.

I do applaud Ahil when he tells her to shut up when she blabbers rubbish😆- but I appreciate the character. It is a difficult character to pull off...and TBH, I feel SJ has done justice to it, given how loosely written the script is.

Sorry soup. The Shrieking and gasping is not doing justice to it.
I agree that the vacant, vapid character till then, yes it was an annoying Jannat and she was playing the character given to her. And what was given to her was kept fluctuating. Airport and early Dharamsala, we saw more of Sanam emerging. After that, it was all Jannat, I agree.

But when it comes to a point where you reach for volume controls, then then yeah it's something that needs to be worked on. It happened during Pak track and then we were spared till last week.

😆 Shrieking...
I hated it in the Pak track. It was bad timing.

But in the jungle, I see it more as Sanam trying to break free.

And I am glad for her that only Ahil is there to witness this madness...quite an embarassment she has become.😆

Shaad is a supporting character- Hardly matters what the audience feels about him...and I am pretty sure a majority of the viewers just want him off their screen.

As a character, I think Sanam has suffered the most...her extreme reactions are making people take extreme measures.🤔

I never criticized her jungle scenes as shreiking, soup (yet let's see how the upcoming scenes play out). It is Shaad poisoning and aftermath at hospital I'm talking about--other than Pak track, of course.

In fact, I even said Jannat asserting her personality is understandable, and the way she told it to Aahil wasn't annoying. It was just part of the story and SJ did it well.

Her talking in the jungle, well that's Jannat being annoying I agree. But where the makers are going wrong is that her annoying character is not who many of us want to see with Aahil with some nok-jhoks and OTT antics. And here the whole situation was OTT.

I never thought she was Sanam in the way she held him back, it was very unlike Sanam, who would have been more calmly practical and not as hyper as Jannat. And I don't think it was supposed to be Sanam-like anyway. But some did think it was more Sanam-like, hence I brought this up now.

Rest, it was just ridiculous "nok-jhok' and 'takraar' which just made me roll my eyes. 1) Who is she to volunteer him just like that for whatever task the tribals had in mind? Then her saying he wouldn't refuse her. 2) And then his dumb happy look to her when she said he wouldn't refuse her. When he made moony eyes at her for saying that, I thought 'what a moron.' Waise, I can understand that it may be Sanam within her coming out in a Jannat-like fashion. And Aahil who desperate for any sign and hope, those words would make him happy and would make him react as well. But what this couple is lacking is any depth or meaningful interactions, and it needs to come soon. And not just superficial 'feels,' OTT nok-jhoks and takraar, Jannat acting hyper and familiar with Aahil and then lashing out at him.

Is it that I don't understand her backing away and being angry with both herself and him? No. I understand. But it seems like from the BTS that she puts it all on him. Which just makes the character even more annoying. Because she doesn't have amnesia when it comes to her own (Jannat's) actions or feelings, does she? Backing away, making it clear it won't happen, and even denying to him is one thing. But lashing out and putting all the onus on him? She doesn't remember her own over-familiar actions and behavior with him?

This being said, he does also call her as Sanam and try to put the moves on her. Which she rightly can be angry for and lash out at him. But there's a difference in telling someone to back off, and turning around and putting all the blame on him when you know you were also an active participant in some manner.

She does have a right to be pissed at him always calling her Sanam and making the moves on her thinking she's Sanam.

All this being said, the upcoming scene where she does lash out at him and assert she would never betray Shaad-- I would actually consider it something that adds to the story and a meaningful scene. But they cannot keep on going with the same thing: OTT interactions, some 'feels' and close encounters, and then her getting angry and telling him off. Rinse and repeat.

We need to see meaningful interactions. And then while she may give a outer face that she's not affected, we need to see her showing conflicts within herself.

In the end, am I saying she should go run to Aahil and choose him? No. But in the end, i do want her to break down and not go through with the 'dobara Nikkah.' To me, real guts would be her rejecting Shaad--this doesn't even mean to go through with her feelings for Aahil; but rather realizing that she does have feelings for Aahil, and even if she cannot go through with them due to what she knows of his situation, guts would be to acknowledge that Shaad doesn't have a place in her life either.

I agree KK. .
It's frustrating to see the potential in the scenes ahead and see it squandered on mediocrity. Jannat needs a little depth in her dialogues.

Right now I have to remind myself in my head that she is Sanam, under all that screeching and blankness. They have given Jannat nothing in the story for the audience to feel sympathetic for her.

They can't claim that they can only concentrate on Aahil's plight now. Because they have time for S2 and Saif ; SK and her revenge; s2 blackmailing Shaad; Shaad one sided romance...

What about Jannat?

All she does us react to others' words and actions. When does she get to react and do something by herself?

Its true KK.

They are bringing all these jungle tracks and goons track to deviate the audience and give them a hope for some good SaHil scenes, but it doesn't strike them that this doesn't fit anywhere with the current story and its totally non sync...and its not Sanam we get to see, but Jannat.

And her nok jhok with Aahil and her sudden free behaviour with him seems too nonsensical...its so forced and her actions are OTT...just a normal logic, Shaad is in hospital and here Jannat is shown dancing and having fun with Aahil. And they show them getting close and alas...everything gets back to track...Jannat shouting that she is Jannat and Shaad's biwi...so why the need to show some non-sync tracks and troll the audience? A dance sequence of them with the tribes...really?? So important while Jannat's so called husband is in hospital?? Fine, if you wanted such a track, then script something logical. They portray Jannat as someone like Sati and Savitri towards Shaad whom according to her is the only worthy human to live in this world and this is the dedication she has towards her hubby?? Atleast remember how you guys have scripted her as and include such tracks. And her 5 mins of memory gain, was too stupid as well...its just that they keep projecting hopes this way to get viewers build a hope and watch this nonsense.

And as Sage mentioned, the Saif and Sanam2's adult romance, SK roaming in her jacket with the same type of villainous monologues, then Shaad's OTT love concern for his fake wife Jannat, and fake cheap consummation scenes are the necessary tracks in this story right now and Aahil's pain and Sanam's ill fate of being used by a stranger is less important in the story...

They must clearly understand that not Aahil and Jannat, but Aahil and Sanam would get them TRPs...because Jannat is just a hollow headed brainless character who is poorly scripted by the CVs and there is nothing great in her to enjoy her OTT scenes with Aahil...and to kindly stop giving her the same irritating dialogues that she is Shaad's wife and her name is Jannat and the stupid Shaad jaap because its portraying her even stupid and resembles her more like a puppet of Shaad.

KK,
I wouldn't call the jungle track a cute nok- jhok.
Not sure if it is meant to convey that...for the most part Jannat is irritable and bossy and blank..

Except when she wants to stop him from doing the glass test...when she really fears for his safety.
Rest of it is like a comedy, where a married woman is trapped in a comical situation with a man she has some feelings for, which she dares not address.

Typical Sanam,

She does not know what these feelings are- they simply terrify her, for the power they have over her.

One thing I loved about the writing is how they have shown the progression in Jannat's understanding of Ahil's intentions and her feelings towards him.

1.She refused to share her thoughts with him, but he managed to tease it out of her.
2.She ran off to Shaad and made sure she settled it once and for all that she would stick on to her husband and that nothing else- not even the concept of love - mattered over her 'duty' towards her husband.
3. She took pains to make it clear to Ahil because she thought he had CHALLENGED her.
4. She ran to Ahil instinctively when Shaad was in danger...somehow she knew he would set it right...as a friend? ...Well wisher?
5. She thanked him for relieving her of her anxiety.
6. She was annoyed that he'd keep calling her Sanam...could be two reasons...One- she belongs to Shaad. Two- she has started developing possessive feelings towards Ahil (subconsciously)- we saw that when Sanam 2 held Ahil's arms...IS SHE FEELING JEALOUS OF AHIL'S SANAM TOO? 😉
7. In the kabila, they are a team. When she said 'yeh mere baat taal nahi sakte'- it was just for buying time. She figured she'd have to convince him...and was appalled that she did not have to.
8. She saw the test and wanted to stop him..But Ahil cleared it...and ...😆..it looks like he started enjoying some of that adulation. (May be he is showing off to her. Here is the nok jhok part I liked. Both are trying to better the other- like their earlier days...This time around, Ahil is eager to please her and prove himself and Sanam is wary of the stranger who is beginning to have an unshakeable hold over her.)
9. They join in the festivities...and are going to have that almost- kiss moment...
10. This is where Sanam backs off...and she starts accusing him of what?- Playing with her feelings. As far as she knows, that is all he is trying to do. Either he is so lost in Sanam- land that he sees Sanam in her and reacts- which is unfair...or he is so bent on proving her 'sachhi mohabbat ' wrong by making her react to him, which makes it CRUEL. This is why her reactions are so extreme after that ...at least this is what I understand of the scene as of now- I am actually looking forward to it.😊

Sage,

Let us see what happens when they get home.

Sanam 2 had said that she wanted Jannat to suffer...for all we know, Jannat will come to know her husband has been unfaithful to her and will be inconsolable...keeping fingers crossed.😆
