Aahil winced in pain as he woke up in the morning. He held his head with both hands and grimaced at the throbbing headache he felt. He rubbed his eyes trying to clear away his grogginess. He felt a mess. As he lifted himself off the bed and sat on the edge, he tried to remember exactly how he ended up in this terrible state. The only times he felt this disgusting in the morning was when he drank until he was knocked out and since he didn't drink anymore--- unless?!!
Aahil groaned as he recalled the bottles he had set up the night before by the poolside. He did get drunk last night! As Aahil tried to get up to take a shower his eyes fell on a piece of paper next to a glass on the table by his bed. He curiously slid out what looked like a note from under the glass and held it in front of him. He blinked a few times before he could see the words that were written on the piece of paper. As he looked at the handwriting, a memory instantly flashed before him.
It was the morning of Haya's wedding and his stupid alarm had choosen to shriek and wake him up. How he hated waking up early in the morning. When he was a child, it would remind him that a new day had started. He would much rather stay in bed and be away from trouble than live through those horrendous days. A new day meant a new torture awaited him that night. As an adult, that habit had not kicked up. He had managed to shut off the alarm without flinging it across the room. Aahil had been sure that he himself had not set the alarm. But he soon found out who did. There was a note, in her handwriting, which was as beautiful and graceful as she was. The words written in the note had made him smile on the inside. She knew him so well, even though she acted as if she didn't. Beside the note had been a tux, her first gift for him. He was admiring it, feeling special and cared for when he had heard footsteps. He instantly pretended to sleep not wanting her to see how happy he was. Only he knew that he was jumping with joy on the inside thinking that she had thought to buy him something. Feigning annoyance when she tried to wake him up, he noticed the slight disappointment in her voice and those soulful eyes, as she saw him look at the tux, which instantly made him guilty. As she left, he made sure to give her something, something to smile about and he could tell that she did. When she walked away he had sighed happily. That morning he had felt that maybe it wasnt so bad waking up early, especially if such a beautiful angel did the honors of waking him up. He would have done anything to have her wake up beside him with a bright smile on her beautiful face.
Aahil touched the words on the letter. But it was all a distant dream. She never wanted to wake up beside him. She didn't want to be his Begum. She didnt want his love. He never got the chance to tell her that he didn't mean those words he had said when they fought that day! He never got to tell her that he was just hurt seeing her with Rehan! That he felt jealous and hurt! That he wanted her to only care for him! To love him as much as he loved her! She had walked into the room to tell him to get ready. There was a certain pride and happiness in her eyes. But he had crushed it with his words. He never meant it. He didn't want her to leave him! Ever! But that day she said that she would happily do so. That she felt suffocated with him. Was that really the case? Or was it something she said under the influence of anger and pain? Did she really feel forced in an unwanted relationship? It didn't seem like that when he was in the hospital! When he had come home injured! She had taken so much care of him. She fed him, care for and stayed with him like no one had done before. Was that not her love? He had felt that it was! His heart, soul and body had felt her love! It didnt seem like duty or paying back a debt. She genuinely looked like she cared. But the recent events had proved it all wrong.
As he saw the drops falling on the paper, he quickly wiped his tears and read the note.
"Drink this you will feel better. Hope the hangover is not too bad. Its a little bitter but I am sure you can manage. Your Sanam."
Aahil reread the few words over and over again. He could almost hear her smiling voice saying these words to him. Those twinkling mischievous eyes. That strict concern. But these days all he saw was disappointment and pain. He so badly wanted to change that. He looked at the paper again. "Your Sanam." I wanted you to be mine Sanam. I did. Aahil thought sadly.
He picked up the glass and drank it. As the liquid went down this throat he wondered what exactly happened the night before. All that he could recall was setting up bottles by the poolside. But why? It was clear that she had come to his room. Not just in the morning but at night as well. He could tell. Somehow he felt a lingering feeling on his face from her touch. I have go find out why! Aahil thought as he put the glass back and got up slowly to gather fresh clothes from the closet. Maybe a shower would clear out his hazy thoughts.
As the cool water ran down his body, Aahil closed his eyes trying to ease the tension he felt. He felt slightly better than he had before. But he was still unclear as to what happened the night before. Aahil lifted his head up slightly trying to let the water fall on his face. After a few minutes of deep thinking, Aahil suddenly opened his eyes. He hit his palm against the wall.
"Dammit! No I didn't! Ugh I cant believe I said all of that to her!"
But it was all true anyway, said a voice in his head that Aahil tried to ignore. Aahil realized that he failed big time. What was his plan and what had he done! He should not have tried messing with alcohol! Or Miss Dhabevaali! It was never easy with either! And there was no way to win! She had shocked him and angered him by not stopping him from drinking. He was caught off guard when she started put the ice in the glass. She did not attempt to stop him as he thought she would. In fact, she didn't believe his threat to drink everyday! Somehow she saw through his plan and stayed firm. That failed his plan completely! She was suppose to stop him and tell him the truth! He had held himself together and attempted to execute his plan despite seeing her hurt. It killed him but he still kept up the act! Yet he failed! Aahil groaned. He was hurt and the alcohol had made it worse. It made him lose control over his emotions. It made him weak! Never again was he going to pull a stunt like this!
Instead of trying to get answers, he had like a love sick puppy poured out all his feelings and pain in front of her! He had cried out all his pain before her! He let the wall fall so that she could see him weak and vulnerable once again! Without thinking, he told her exactly how he felt. That he didnt hate her! That he was hurt! That she hurt him! Sanam had been shock, hurt and even angry but didnt leave him. She had helped him to his room and tucked him in bed. She had stayed by his side to comfort him. Even in the morning she left him something to take care of his headache. Did that mean that she still cared? Maybe she always did?!! She always came forward when he was in pain yet caused him the greatest heartbreak of all. It was so confusing! Maybe she did have a reason? She had pleaded her innocence. She had said that she was disappointed because he didn't wait for her. That she had faith in their love, in him! But he didn't. That he accused her and didn't trust her. His accusations did cause her pain and to an extent shocked her. That it was evident fom her words, from her eyes and her posture. Maybe it was also his fault?
Aahil turned off the water and reached for his towel. He couldn't stick to these maybes. He need solid answers. Instead of giving him the truth he wanted, she just kept stalling and there had to be a reason for that!
As Aahil stepped out of the shower and walked to the mirror in his bedroom, he found his eyes seeking her. How he missed seeing her mischievous eyes look at him through the mirror! She would try to hide it when he got close, but she did check him out! He had never felt conscious in his life! He was ARI! But when Sanam had stared at him, he felt her stare burn him, inside out! He had been with so many women but just her gaze was enough to turn him on! Miss Dhabevaali did have a wild side to her that did crazy things to him. At that moment when she stared, he was gone! He had no idea how he controlled himself. There was much more in his mind than just staring. Her touch had the power to sent electric jolts through his entire body. He craved her touch. Even last night, he had held her close to his body when he pinned her against the pillar. She had smelled so good. Even though he was not fully in his senses, he felt the comfort of being close to her. He had let go because his emotions had gotten the better of him. But he had wanted to hold her for so much longer. Her soft delicate body had always felt wonderful, especially when it was close to his. That was clear when he had almost kissed her atop his car. He never knew Miss Dhabevaali could be so adventurous. When he had leaned in, feeling her soft body crush against his and her warm breath caressing his face, he had felt like he was in heaven, even before he could kiss her. Aahil swallowed slowly and ignored the reaction his body had to the memory. He had to speak to her. This was becoming unbearable! Aahil had locked the door from the inside this time around. He didn't want any intruders. Aahil knew Sanam would not enter the room. Instead, he would have to go look for her. So what if he failed once! Now that she knew everything, he could just straight ask her. No more hiding his feelings! This time things were going to be direct! What had she said?
"Aap hosh main nahi hai. Kal subah baat karenge." Well subah ho gayi hai and he was also fully in his senses, Aahil thought to himself. In fact like never before! It was time to talk! He was ARI and it was time to show her that. Aahil smirked slightly as he looked in the mirror, he knew exactly what to do!
After Aahil got ready, he made a few phone calls and grabbed his files. He looked at the mirror one more time before heading off to office. On his way out, he made a detour to the kitchen. When he quickly scanned the kitchen, he was disappointed to not see her. Aahil sighed.
"Latif! Sanam kahan hai," he asked exasperatedly.
Latif looked at him in confusion and said "Aahil baba yeh rahi---"
Before he could continue, Aahil gave him a death stared and Latif gulped.
"Woh apni behen ke ghar gayi hai. Kuch chahiye aapko?"
Aahil shook his head as he fisted his hands.
"Agar aap kahe toh main usse phone kar doon," the voice next to Latif said.
Aahil politely shook his head. "No thank you. I can manage."
With that he quickly left before either one could say anything. Clearly the person he was looking for was not home. Which was good in a way. What he had in mind required him to not see her at all. A small smile crept on his lips as he walked to his car and started to dial a number. It was time for Mrs. Sanam Raza Ibrahim to receive a little shock, a pleasant shock, from her husband. It was time for her, after a long time to meet ARI.
Sanam scooted over to give room to her sister as they shared an auto on their way home. The two sisters chatted. Seher had looked genuinely happy to meet their sister Haya and her husband Rahat. They had all bonded so well and Haya had good the most amazing biryani for them. After a while, Seher suddenly grew silent. Sanam nudged her, "Arre tujhe kya hua? Hmm whose on ur mind?"
"Sanam, this is not the first time I am meeting Haya. I still cant believe I said so many mean things about her, you, Aahil, everyone! How heartless am I?!M I cheated my own family! Haya... I didn't even get to feel the emotions of a sister during her wedding and because of me, you couldn't attend either! How can you guys forgive me?!!" Seher looked down blinking back tears as Sanam wrapped her amrs around her twin.
"Look what happened was really unfortunate. You did make mistakes, I wont deny that. But perhaps fate had this cruel plan to make us unite. Its not like you knew who were were. Plus you were never given those values that Badi Ammi gave us as kids, to know right from wrong, good from bad. Circumstances change people Seher. Force them to turn tougher and choose paths that are not exactly correct. Sometimes you need guidance to bring out that inner person in you. Take Aahil for example. What had Tanveer turned him into. But I saw a different Aahil inside of him. Someone totally different! Even you have that! Now with all those values and proper guidance, Seher you will find the right path! Tanveer has messed up all of our lives! But fate has brought us back together to give it back to her! To avenge our parents! To being justice to all her wrongdoings! It was cruel, the way we met but what is important that we have been reunited! Seher I am sure one day Allah will give you the chance to do something that makes you proud! You will get the chance to make it up to us! Look your trying to bring Aahil and me back together. You are trying to fix your mistakes! It will be hard. I wont lie Seher, it will be hard! Badi Ammi had said this too. But we can lose hope. We cant tell him the truth nor can we hide it from him! But Seher, atleast we are all together, even Haya said she is with us! Don't worry and don't feel bad! What is done is done. We can only try to make things better." Sanam smiled as her sister pulled her into a side hug and put her head on her shoulder.
"Your the best sister Sanam. The strongest, the most loving, caring and pure hearted! You inspire me to pick things up and try to live again! You give me strength! Truly the best sister Bappa and Allah could have given me!" Seher highed her tighter.
"Shh don't tell Haya!" Sanam said as Seher chuckled and wiped her tears.
"I have to say Haya is really lucky. Rahat is a really nice human being!"
"He is! The time I have known him from, he is a through gentleman and exactly what Haya wanted all her lifetime! Her prince charming! By the way, even Haya noticed. You seemed very excited when the topic of guys came along" Sanam said as she looked at her twin. Seher blushed slightly.
"Sach mein batah koi ha kya?"
"Sanam! Maine kaha na main waqt aane pe sab batungi." Sanam laughed as her sister rolled her eyes humorously.
"I think I have an idea ke woh kaun hai par theek hai ok I will wait." Sanam nodded her head and smiled.
Seher then looked at her with concern. "Sanam tera Aahil se baat hui kya?" Sanam sighed softly.
"Ha kal raat ko. Seher woh definitely sach janna chahte hai. And he has every right to. I hate lying to him! But I cant tell him the truth either! Its such a terrible situation! But last night one thing was clear, he still loves me a lot. He is hurt but his love is still there. I just want to see it in his eyes Seher. I do and now I have hope that inshallah I will!" Sanam gave Seher a small smile.
"Oh ho. Kal raat? Aisa kya hua ke unka pyaar nazar aaya." Seher winked naughtily as Sanam looked at her shocked.
"Seher! Aisa kuch nahi ok! Lets just say unhone apne dil ke baat keh di. Kuch alag andaaz mein hi sahi but phir bhi I am very happy! Seher maine toh umeed his chodi thi. But I realized last night that I cant give up on him! I love him Seher. It may be tough but I have to be tougher. I have to free him from that witch and make our love win! No matter what! Seher I wont give up!" Sanam looked at her sister determinedly while Seher gave her a look of pride. She hugged Sanam again and Sanam smiled as she hugged her twin back. She had her sisters as her pillar of support! She had no reason to give up.
The twins chatted the rest of the way home. As soon as they reached the front of the mansion, Rehan ran up to them. Sanam was alarmed. Was everything ok?
"Sanam woh Aahil bhai..."Rehan trailed off with slight apprehension in his eyes.
"What is it Rehan?!! Aahil kya?" Sanam replied trying to sound stronger than she felt.
