I have seen many posts criticizing Aahil about his conduct, and I am among them. But I have this thing I do, where I try to understand what motivates someone to act the way they do. I have always watched Aahil closely coz from day one, I've been fascinated by his character graph. Just like I was with ASR! Also, lets face it, KV plays Aahil in such a way that no one can take his eyes off him. So this is my attempt at understanding why he is acting the way he is acting.
Aahil was immature in his ways before he met Sanam. His whole identity hinged on his sense of gratitude towards Tanveer, and also his secret guilt. He lived life on the fast lane, mostly to compensate for the demons inside him. He was also encouraged to drink and womanize by his Mother, who wished him to never want to settle down, so she can get the lot for her biological son. So he was pretty much exploited all his life. What he thought of as "free reign" from Tanveer to live his life, was actually a way of ensuring he never had a totally full life and got any REAL happiness. Maybe he didn't even think he deserved it.
Enter Sanam. She fought him. She didn't cower under his so called name and power. She was fearless and he was dangerously drawn to her. Then, he fell dangerously in love with her, and the rest, as they say is history. He fell totally under her spell and was eating out of her hand. His redemption was giving into her 100%. He loved her and he was ready to surrender his whole life to her. Like he told Lateef, he loved her so much that had she wanted to be free, he would have set her free, if she wanted TIME, he would have given her all the time in the world.
But NOW...he is in vengeance mode. The deeper the love, the greater the hurt. So of course, in his hurt, he is lashing out! Is it good? No. Is it mature? No! But that's Aahil when his feelings are involved.
When he first fell for Sanam and he realized she didn't have a clue about it, he was sulking. He was upset. He was lashing out. He didn't know how to deal with his feelings. He got married to Sanam, and felt rejected by her, when she said she was waiting to end their relationship. Despite all that, he gave into his feelings again and fell in love with her all over again. Now he has experienced love with Sanam. He felt what it was like to be loved by her. He confessed his love, and was ready for a lifetime commitment. Then he thinks he has been left at the alter.
Now she is back, and he is afraid of being vulnerable. He doesn't want Sanam 2, but he will try to make it look like he does, coz he wants Sanam to suffer. The same way HE suffered when he thought she left him. He doesn't know why she left and the mood he is in he actually doesn't CARE why she left. He only knows that she DID. As far as he is concerned there is no bigger betrayal. In his mind, coming back does not excuse her. Leaving was unacceptable.
This is hurting him as much as it is hurting her. But he acts like it doesn't. He could have thrown her out, and he probably should have just told her leave. But he didn't! WHY? Coz he WANTS her there. She is back, and he can't let her go. That's the actual truth. He knows it too, but of course he doesn't want to admit it. So he is doing all this to make himself feel better as much as to show everyone he is in control, but the truth is far from it.
What I want to see is how long he can keep up this ACT of his? Because an act it is. He is just as much in love with her, if not more. When he saw her and she was coming at him, he had to stop her, because he could not risk having her hug him. He may have become weak and I think that is what he feared. At that moment his eyes were so full of pain. It took a lot for him to give into his feelings, to really TRUST someone. He told her his biggest secret, and then to think that she may have been using him in some way, is just too much for a guy like Aahil.
At this point he is punishing himself just as much as her. He wants to punish himself for falling in love with her and forgetting himself. Just like he told Lateef. "Akal tikane agaya!" This is his way of pretending to himself that he is over Sanam. He think he can see her everyday and torture her and hate her. But the truth is the opposite. It will become unbearable to him even before it becomes for her! I am waiting to see how long it takes him to crack!
