Wow an outstanding character analysis !!! I agree with everything you wrote !! 👏

I've seen many shows with several different characters but Sanam is definitely my favorite 😳

Thank you so much for this post Gita! 🤗

Sanam and weak are different as night and day. 😆

She is the first female character I have seen on Indian TV who has a spine for once and doesn't take BS from anyone, in any shape or form, at any time. Totally dig her guts and bravado. ⭐️

She is also a refreshing change from the age old bubbly, OTT character (that I do like) but was getting bored with them.

I totally dig her straightforwardness and how pragmatic she is about life. Her maturity and ability to differentiate between right and wrong. She is not obstinate with the judgments and opinions she makes about people. She is flexible like you said and that is another one of her qualities. :)

She doesn't take any ehsaan from people and her khuddari is brilliant.

In short, she is totally awesome and doesn't get nearly as much appreciation as she should in this forum probably because people prefer the OTT larger than life female characters more. But there is no accounting for personal choice and I personally find Sanam a welcome change from the same old...

Welcome 🤗 .
Your comment in that post set me thinking. Else I was free today, and was thinking of making that Case (Rehaan Vs. Ahil) post. But then held myself back. Too much of Rehaan talk has happened. Thought let appreciate Sanam.😉

Sanam, is refreshingly different from the run of mill heroines.
She has the attitude to face life head on. She is someone with a strong character. Someone who can face the difficulties in life and not make a hue and cry about it.
She was rejected at the altar of mrg.
Imagine, a small town girl, the groom rejects her in front of the entire society. However hurt she was, she didn't break down and shut herself. Contrast this with Zoya or Rehaan. When ZOya;s nikaah didnt happen, she shut herself from the world.
When Rehaan saw Saahil nikaah, he drowned in self pity, to the extent of accusing Ahil, accepting Tanveer's 3 month divorce.
Sanam, is way ahead of all them in character. Even stronger than Ahil.
And only Ahil is strong enough for her. No one else.

There was a fantasic post regarding Sanam falling for Aahil. Forgot who the writer is. I will link it here also. Got it, by ploydome. And see my comment also re. Sanam.
Re. The Bob Marley quote.

Thanks.
Yeah I read that post and had commented on it. Read your comment and agree that tears do not signify weakness. Even Asad used to cry (a lot). Was he weak?
There was a lot of hue and cry w.r.t. Ahil's character in the beginning, rgdg his playboy nature.
But am glad, CVs didn't show Sanam harping on it and labelling AHil. Sanam, from a small town, not highly educated, is mature enough to not judge Ahil for his past. Kudos to the girl.
Saahil got audience hooked to the show. They are the soul of the show.
Rest all characters can be parallel lead. But the title of main lead will always rest with Saahil, at least for me.

Awesome post 😊
I agree with each n every point of urs...
I have always beleived that Sanam is one of the best written characters on indian TV ... her brilliance which made me her fan was during Dhaba burning scene... The way she gave back to Aahil... i was like jumping with excitement ... that was the best part of that scene for me... 👏👏👏
The feminist in me is always so happy seeing her standing up for Right and her courage is so so admirable... thats why she is different from other heroines ... shes strong headed... n the way she stands up infront of Aahil ,,,, bravo... the writers n SJ both deserve the credit for such an awesomely written character...
Although its SJ whose playing all the 3 roles but my favorite amogst these 3 would be Sanam... i know Zoya was a refreshingly different character but Sanam has exceeded even her mom ... i truly adore her n respect her ... i like Seher too but my favorite will always be Sanam

much needed post..i dont know why people think sanam is weak..for Indian audience female lead
should be
bubbly, doing ott comedy..she is used for comedy..making fun of herself in front of male lead
or
ekta's mahaan heroine..who gives lecture to every one..

but sanam is not like above two..she is career oriented, have self respect,intense,silent..she easily changed her opinion of aahil when she sees him doing good things..not doing over smart work..
i think people want ott comedy heroine.. angry young man..they cant understand other type of characters..so label her as boring..
you know what i like about her..she is intense in romantic scenes not behave like some shy heroine..infact sanam is always confident one in sahil romance scenes..aahil always have some hesitation i really like that..

Sanam is responsible, determined, righteous, kind, bold and selfless.
May be she is judged by her clothes and lack of English knowledge.

Thanks.
@Bold - yes, even i was perturbed by those judgements. But CVs were bang on with both these aspects.
Most of the youngsters from villages, even though, they have degrees, but still lack skill in spoken english. Its a big handicap for them when they come to the cities in search of jobs.
And love the way Sanam speaks broken english, without fluency.
As for her clothes, I live in northern India. And I have seen many women wearing exactly the kind of clothes that Sanam used to wear.

Much needed post Gita.
Contrary to some forumers, I think Sanam is fully capable of taking on Tanveer on her own, even w.o Ahil's help, forget Sehar,Rehan &others.

The Cvs have toned down & after Sehar's entry totally eliminated traces of Zoya's character from Sanam, like her shayaris & Allah Miyas and made her more like Asad. I like that. It's rare to see heroines molded on a strong male character and Asad was epic(ok, he did act stupid at times, but he always tried to do what he felt was right & for greater causes).

IMO, Sehar seems like some one who will win the battles but not the war. I love Sanam's patience, righteousness & willingness to work hard and she has the smarts inspite of her rural upbringing & limited exposure to a big bad world. Sanam prays for strength and Sehar thanks God for sending her easy preys, huge difference.

I would say Sanam is an improved version of Asad, because of her feminine qualities, which makes her a very attractive strong woman.

Sanam is strongest female character I have seen on TV !!
The things i like in her character are - She is very strong , a career oriented girl and family is her priority.
she is too mature, sweet, simple, sorted , and most important she has 'self respect' which i hardly see in any other female lead 🤔
so for me she is best ❤️

Mariya 🤗
Sanam prioritises her family first. Anwar or was it Azhar has no idea what he has lost. Stupid man.

She is the best for me too.

Currently, Seher and Rehaan are the flavor of the forum. So, I thought let me make a post on Sanam. Right from the begining, everyone has felt that Sanam is a weak character. But she is not. She is Asad's daughter in every sense. Those who loved Asad, cannot help not loving Sanam. sad would've been so so proud of his lil girl.

Can I say, of all the female leads I have watched, I find Sanam to be the best. Here are the reasons why:

She gives back as good as she gets. She has attitude.Agree.There have been heroines in the past who have answered back but sanam truly gives back as good as she gets...and she has been 99.9% of the times consistent with it.

Her dream is to open a chain of dhabas. She is carrer minded.Only dreaming or wishing or saying does not make you career minded or ambitious, what is she doing to fulfill that dream?
.
She mandhandles her man. She is brave, strong. So a woman physically harming a man is good? When did she do that btw?

She never hesitates to speak her mind, even with Tanveer, she speaks her mind. She has never allowed Tannu or anyone else to harass her.She is no doormat. To tanveer she does not always answer back, the tehzeeb and the shock she feels whenever tanveer's mask slips even slightly stops her I suppose.

She always takes help, never goes off to investigate anything all alone, no heroic acts. She is smart.Only the graveyard incident comes to mind, she went there alone and got into trouble didn't she?😆

She believes in communication. Before nikaah, she discussed every small thing, (even watching Ahil kiss a girl on haystack) with Badi Ammi and after nikaah, even though caught in a hate mrg, she doesn't hesitate to communicate with Ahil. She is communicative.Yup,she does not wait till her feelings get all bottled up,says it when she feels it.

She respects, but doesn't bend. She is tehzeeb e aftaa. Yeah I suppose

She wins but fairly. She is fair. She is an Indian tv lead, can't be unscrupulous

She is prejudiced, but doesn't hesitate to change her opinion. She is flexible.Do not remember anything to agree or disagree with this.

p.s. Sonia's reply in Safeflower's post was the inspiration for this post.

p.p.s. Will add more with the comments.
