Part 6
"Dekiye main ek chote shehar ki ghareeb larkhi hoon tho meri problems tho hongi. Meri badi Ammi ki tabiyat itni kharab raiti hain aur meri behen, Haya, bichari woh to bol be nahin sakti. To unki yaad aree thee...tho bus..."
"Toh tum ye kherahi ho ke tum apni badi Ammi ke yaad main theen mile bhaag kar road ke paas baitke roh raheen theen?"
"Haan! Tho?" Sanam fumed losing her temper. "Why was he so worried about her running away and crying? What did it matter to him?" Sanam thought furiously.
"Aap hi nay to meri musibatein bharaeen hain? Aapko kya farak padta hain ke meri jaise naukar kay zindagi main kya ho raha hain?" she argued.
Aahil completely lost it with that. He walked up to her and grabbed her hard by the shoulders.
"Mujhe koi farak nahin parta? Mujhe? Issiliye main har baar tumhe deewano ki taran bachane aata hoon?!"
"Aaagh," gasped Sanam wriggling under his strong hold. "Chordiye mujhe! Mujhe bohut dard ho raha hai!"
"Aur mera dard Sanam?" he continued further tightening his grip on her shoulders unconsciously. "Mere daard ka kya? Haan? Woh daard jo mujhe mehsoos hota hai jab tumhe takleef main dekhta hoon? Woh daard jo mujhe hota hai jab tumhare ankhon main ansoon hote hain?"
Aahil did not know where this was coming from but somehow it just felt right. So he continued. "Ye daard, ye ehsaas ye saab kya hai? aur kyun? Aisi kya baat hai tumme jo mujhe haar bar tumharee ore keech thee hain? Aisi kya baat hai tumme jo main Nida ke taraf dekne ke bajai tumme ko jata hoon?"
At this point Sanam had stopped trying to free herself from him. Tears were running down her face. And she stood frozen, absorbing each and every word that escaped his lips. Sanam couldn't understand these rapidly building up feelings he was talking about. She had also been feeling some things for him. Whenever he was with Nida, something just seemed out of place. But she used to think that it was just plain worry that a person as cruel as Nida shouldn't be his future because he clearly wasn't half as bad as her. She never thought those feelings could be anything more than that because she new that she was nothing more than a mere servant and he was after all a Nawab. And it would be out of place to even think of herself as a potential partner for him. And if she did have feelings for him and he found out, Nida would definitely stand by her false accusation and would make Sanam's life miserable.
But Sanam was unaware of her feelings for Aahil. It was either that or she was trying to push them out of the way before they completely took over her heart and soul.
But right now she didn't know how to react. Aahil was shaking her.
"Bolo Sanam! Ye kya ehsaas hai? Kya ye dil ki awaaz hai? Kya tumhe be sunai dehtee hai? Kya tumhe woh dard hota hai? Kya tumhe be farak partha hai?"
She was feeling his pain right now. But she needed time to think about her feelings, if she had any for him, before she could reciprocate this love. Aahil Raza Ibrahim and love? It was hard to believe that a playboy like him would even believe in love. After all, did he forget that he was engaged? He, himself proposed to Nida. Sanam was really confused right now and she did was she thought was best at the moment.
"Nahin!!" she responded. "Mujhe farak nahin partha kay aap kya karthe hain aur kyun karthe hain. Aapko samajna he itna mushkil hai. Kabhi gussa to kabhi...," but she wasn't able to finish because Aahil had let her go and he's done so with such force that she fell backwards and her shoulder collided with the old cart that stood in the corner of the barn.
"Ouch," she winced as she saw him walk out the barn and into the pouring rain.
Sanam stood up in shock," Ya Allah ye toh mujhe jungle ke beech main akele chor gaye."
Part 7
Sanam's clothes were still soaked and she decided to take off her dupatta and wring it dry. Then she spread it on the cart. She noticed a blue coat and realized it was Aahil's but she didn't dare to touch it, in case he came back. A half an hour had passed but he still hadn't returned. Sanam felt like he had really left her behind this time. But she also knew that it was her fault. She had seen the hurt in his eyes before he harshly let her go.
She was disappointed in herself for responding to him in such an awful way. As she squeezed the water out of the corners of her kurta, she shut her eyes, reliving the conversation she and Aahil had had.
Maybe she had been too hasty and too emotional in answering him back. She could have handled the situation in a calmer manner. But she was Sanam Ahmed Khan after all. She had her dad's temper. She couldn't help it.
She undid her braid and swept her hair to the side as she tried to air dry it also. There was a window at the back of the barn. She walked to it and stood looking out at the rain. She closed her eyes and thought. Alot.
He really had saved her all these times. Every time she fell he was there to catch her. He saved her from the swimming pool during her first challenge and even applied ointment to her burned hand during the dinner challenge. He had saved her when she had been buried alive and had taken genuine care of her after that until she was well again. Come to think of it, his behavior and attitude the past couple of days have been so different compared to what they were when they had first met. Maybe he really did have feelings for her. True feelings.
But every time Sanam came to that conclusion, she acknowledged the fact that he was engaged and after that when she moved on to think about her own feelings for him, she found a block in her mind. Because how could she even think about having feelings for an engaged man?
Sanam shook her head, this was too complicating and confusing.
She paced to the door of the barn and back. A strong gust of wind was blowing and suddenly the candle in the lantern blew out. The barn was engulfed in darkness and Sanam shuddered out of fear as the door began to shake violently. She still didn't have any network in her phone and her phone's battery was also discharged so her phone wasn't lighting up. It wasn't usual for Sanam to be afraid of the dark but tonight she was all alone in a strange barn, in the middle of the jungle.
She didn't know what to do. So she shut her eyes tight and prayed, really hard.
"Allah miya, please Aahil ko wapas bejdijiye. Aahil ko wapas bejdijiye. Please Allah Miya!!" she chanted.
Somewhere an owl hooted, Sanam's eyes opened wide, in fear. But she quickly closed them, blocking out all negative thoughts and continued to pray.
Suddenly she heard a loud clatter and a familiar voice, "Sanam?"
Sanam opened her eyes to see a silhouette of a tall figure. She ran towards him and without thinking, threw her arms around his neck.
"Aahil! Please aap mujhe maaf kardijiye maine paata nahin aapko kya kya bina soche samjhe kay diya. Mujse galti hogayi. Aap wakai main mere liye bohut kuch kar chuke hain...Shukar hai Allah ka kay aap wapas agaey. Mera jee baite ja raha tha."
"Ssshh," Aahil patted her back gently. He realized that it was bare as her hair was swept to one side, but he tried not to have that affect him. She felt good in his arms and he was just trying to console her because she was obviously terrified.
"It's okay, he whispered to her," Tumhe maafi maangne ki koi zaroorat nahin hai. Tumne aapna jawab dediya and that's fair."
Sanam's heart lurched. She knew that it wouldn't be easy to make up for what she had said but the fact was that whatever she had said wasn't even entirely true. She had to make it up to him. She just had to...
