Hi Friends,
Here is the next update. I am extremely sorry for the delayed update. I was supposed to update on 13th but due to some unavoidable circumstances, my travel plans changed at the last moment and I reached only today morning. Hence the update is late. Since I am back, I will be updating more frequently like before. I am thankful for my readers who find time to read my ff and post comments and likes. But I was a bit disappointed with the response of last update. But anyways, I really hope to get better responses here after. Those who do not like updates also please do comment. Criticisms are also welcome.Whether positive or negative, please guys break the silence.
Chapter 19
Asad took phone from Dilshad and moved out of the room.
Dilshad was still tensed.
Ze: "Dilshad, Is there any problem?"
Dil: " It is Asad's dadi. I don't know how to tell her that Asad got engaged and that too in her absence "
Ra: " Don't worry Dilshad. Asad will manage."
Dil: " But still..."
Everybody was worried hearing Dilshad.
Ra: " Dilshad, stop panicking. You are upsetting everyone."
Suddenly Dil: " I am sorry. I didn't mean to trouble all of you. Actually Asad is very close to his dadi, so is his dadi. It was his dadi who was always excited about Asad's marriage. And all of this happened so suddenly that I couldn't inform her."
Ze: "Where is Asad's dadi now?"
Dil: "Rashid's house is in a village near Bhopal. Ammi lives there. Inspite of our insistence, she never comes to stay with us in Mumbai.She is so much attached to the house. We go there for a vacation or sometimes Ammi comes here for a few days. After Ayaan's birth, my health was not good. So managing both kids was not possible for me. And Rashid was doing his higher studies along with his job here.So he was also busy. So Ammi took care of Asad those days. Infact he grew up there with ammi till he was ten years old. So both are very much attached to each other. Ammi was very upset with Asad's decision of not getting married. She did not even come for Ayaan's engagement as she was very upset as Ayaan was getting married and Asad was not.There is no doubt that she would be very happy but I don't know how she will react when she will come to know that Asad got engaged without informing her."
Just then Asad came inside and he realised that everyone is tensed.He tried to lighten the mood.
As: " Everybody chill. I have talked to Dadi. She is very happy and she will come as soon as we inform her the marriage date. Don't worry."
Everyone was relieved. After a few minutes, the doctor came and finished the discharging formalities. Zoya was taken home . Since Asad had to attend an important meeting, he went to office.
The day went off so quickly. Zoya was feeling better as she was back in her room after a long time. She was lost in Asad's thoughts."
In the evening, the trio, Humeira, Najma and Nikhat came to meet Zoya. They were clueless about the engagement. Humeira couldn't talk to Ayaan that day and he was busy with some paper presentation.
Ni: " How are you feeling now. I am happy that you are fine. I really missed you Zoya. Everybody misses you in office also. Deepak and madam were also asking about you today."
Zo: " Even I miss office too. It has been almost more then a week that I haven't been to office. But it feels like I haven't been to office since years. And Najma , Humeira what is up with you both?"
Naj: " We don't have anything new to tell you. We are fine. Infact you have to tell us exactly what happened in Bangalore. How come you and your hilter turned out your equation guys? I mean we are still in shock."
Ni: " Zoya Najma is right. We are in deep shock. I mean how come all this happened? Are you guys serious?"
Zoya was thinking how to tell them that they are already engaged, just then Zeenat came inside with snacks and tea for them.
Ze: " We are having a small get together for dinner. I was about to call you people for the same but before that you came. So Stay back and no excuse. Humeira beta, your parents will also be coming."
Hu: " My ammi abbu, But aunty what is the occasion? Zoya's home coming?"
Ze: " No beta, It is ..." She paused for a while then she realised that Zoya's friends did not know about her engagement.
Ze: "Zoya, you didn't tell them that you got engaged today morning?"
"Engaged?" Nikhat, Najma and Humeira shouted at the same time.
Zeenat left the room.
Zoya briefed them about how Asad planned their engagement and how it happened.
Naj: " Wow, how romantic? Hilter turned romantic hero?"
Nik: " I am shocked Asad sir so much desperate? And he was behaving so normally in office today. Like seriously how can a person behave so casually immediately after engagement? I am sure nobody in office knows about it. Anyway tomorrow I will ..."
Before Nikhat could complete, Zoya interrupted her in between: " No Nikhat. There is no need to tell anybody now, not unless Asad wants so."
Ni: " Asad?? Haan? But I really want to know what happened between you guys? I mean such transformation and that too so soon."
Zo: " Nikhat, it is not something happened in Bangalore or some where else. It is definitely not a single incident or a single instance that made us close. I really don't know how to explain the feeling guys. It just happened so. We realised that we love each other. And the fact is that we love each other and now we are engaged. And hopefully will be married soon."
Ni: " Marriage so soon?? I mean Zoya, you never wanted to get married soon?"
Zo: " I really don't know whether I am ready for marriage, whether I am ready to take up the responsibility or not but I am sure about the fact that I want to be with Asad. So"
Hu: " I am so happy . That means Zoya will be... I am sorry I have to start calling you bhabhi"
Everybody smiled at Humeira's antics.They were pulling Zoya's legs and Zoya was blushing meanwhile they heard a knock in the door.
Asad was standing by the door. He looked really tired. As soon as they saw Asad, all three got up and was about to leave the room. They informed Zoya that they will help Zeenat in her preparations and left the room. Asad greeted them while they left and he came inside the room.
Asad removed his coat and loosened his neck tie.He went and sat near Zoya.He was really tired. Zoya could easily make it out
Zoya ran her fingers thorugh Asad's hair: "Tired?? Hmmm?"
Asad: "A bit."
Zo: " Coffee?"
As: "Would love to have one"
Zoya got up from her bed, just then Asad made her sit on the bed.
As: " I will get it myself. Don't stress yourself"
Zo: " I am fine Asad. I am really worried for you whether you will fall ill now. I will get coffee. "
As: " No means No. Lie down"
Just then Najma came with coffee. Asad thanked Najma.
After finishing the coffee, As: " How was your day?"
Zo: " Good, how was yours?"
As: " Very busy."
Zo: " I can't believe that we are engaged Asad. I am so happy and a big thanks to you that you kept up your promise. And I love you for that."
As: " Love tou too. Anything for you. And moreover I also can't stay away from you."
Zo: " And all fine in office?"
As: " Not so fine Zoya. I am trying to streamline everything. May be I will have to go to Pune for three or four days next week probably. "
Zo: "Four days. No "
As: "What no? You know my work Zoya. I have to and you know that. Please don't make things difficult to me."
Zo: " What? I am making things difficult for you? How mean? I asked you to stay back as I wanted to be with you and you are blaming me. You can go where ever you want and who am I to stop you. You can go for three days or three months. I won't stop you."
Asad got up from the chair and sat near Zoya in her bed. He caressed her hair and said: " Who are you to stop me? How can you ask such a question Zoya? You know you are my life. You have full right to stop me. Let me see what I can do ? Don't be upset. I am sorry if I hurt you."
Zoya looked up to face Asad and said: " I am sorry. I shouldn't have over reacted. I know you have to go. Its your work. And more than anybody else, I should understand that. I am sorry once again. And I promise that I will always try to be your strength and not your weakness."
As: " No more sorries my dear. I don't want to waste the little time which we apologising to each other. Please be with me Zoya. Please let me feel alive."
Zoya made Asad lie down on her bed in such a way as to place his head on her lap.
As: " Zoya, do you think I should lie down on your bed. I mean everybody is there downstairs. What will ..."
Before Asad could complete, Zoya placed her finger on his lips and said: "Shhh Asad. Eeryone here knows us very well. All of them knew that we will never cross our limits.So don't worry.Please relax. "
She started caressing his hair and slowly she could feel Asad relax and within no time, Asad drifted to a slumber. Zoya pecked his forehead and continued caressing his head.She understood that in the past few days .Asad had really stressed himself so much. She knew she got enough rest but in order to be with her when ever she wanted him, he really had a tough time. She felt that she was the luckiest girl for having got him in her life. She felt an undefined contentment in her life. Soon Zoya also drifted to sleep caressing Asad's head.
