Actually, I have a bit of a different perspective on this. PRem/Yudi, in my opinion, was one of Ekta's best-written characters and Ekta has the talent for creating some great characters. She has always tried to follow Prem up with rebellious sons like Ansh or whoever, but nobody could really balance the fine line between grey and black like Prem did.
Prem, in fact, was initially characterized and conceived as the villain figure, but Karanvir made him look so adorable that Ekta had to change the infamous rape track and make Prem into the hero. Prem's troubled relationship with his parents, excluding things like chemistry with Mukti, was the highlight of KZK. You should rewatch that disco episode where Prerna hits Prem and there is this infamous scene between them where Prem is about hit his mother, also the scene when Prem's reservations against Prerna finally crumbles and he calls her mom for the first time. Not to forget the way Prem bonded with the sister he was born for, Sneha, Jennifer Singh Grover. Prem's character was one the most volatile and intriguing characters of Indian televsision and this is precisely why people still remember him to this day.Ekta's talent for creating characters like that is unmatchable. No one else even comes close. Still hate the woman, but some of her characters were beautiful. Aahil, except for the trademark arrogance, is not half as complex as Prem was.
Couldn't agree more...he was Ekta's best creation so far...his character shaped into every possible manner...starting from bad rebelious son, not so good brother but a good friend (to Sharad, KSG), a prankster, to a madly in love boy, best brother to Sneha, and a good son also...I hated Ekta for not uniting Muki Prem..and I still do...KVB was brilliant as a mental patient after Mukti died...u could just cry for him...and yeah I remember that scene where he called Prerna "maa"...he had lost Mukti to Yug (atleast he thought so) and he was torn...b'ful scene. 😊
