Hey everyone...I am back...with an update...but before you read it I wanted to revisit the premises of this story with you.
First of all..this story is supposed to be a little dark. But that being said, the darkness will not necessarily be a part of the love story when it happens...it will be the darkness that will lead to the love story...
Secondly...I realized my reason for being disheartened for this story..beyond the obvious ones...and that is that I tried to push this story to go down a different path than the one it was meant to take..Meaning the last chapter was more for the requests of certain scenes than the actual progress of the story...Its not a straight forward love story and I along with you has to deal with it..It will take a longer route to get there...so you all will have to be patient with updates such as this one where I am building the story and hopefully the suspense...and you'll also have to be a little forgiving because this is my first..not so ordinary love story..so I am bound to mess it up...Boy its hard to write a believable suspense/romance story..but I am gonna try... and lastly...have a lil faith in me...I will bring love in it cos I also want to get to that part of the story...
Now..you can read the update...
Wait first...Just a general shoutout to all of you wonderful wonderful...amazing...spectacular..bestest...readers and supporters that told me not to quit (BTW I never said I would I just wanted to leave indefinetly!!) and for saying how much you loved my stories..esp Turnaround (you know what I just read it over the weekend and gotta pat my back...its not a bad first story huh!!) it just made me wanna write again... Ch7
Calculated past!!!
What was wanted was not granted; instead what came along
was unexpected!!!-(ME!!)
Life was no longer ready to dance on Zoya's tune. It had decided to allow fate do that, and fate constantly steered her in the direction she couldn't venture into. Rihaan and Zoya were a couple only in the name of legality. Every effort to consummate, to communicate and to create a strong bond was being ceased by unexpected turn of events. Rihaan and Zoya just weren't happening. There was a strong undercurrent of resistance in the relationship and the couple sensed it.They tried together and individually to work around it, but it just didn't click. Soon in a matter of a month, Rihaan's interest wavered, pulling him back into work, leaving Zoya even more frustrated. She had to up her ante or risk falling into the trap of a monotonous life, where the wife was eternally frustrated and unsatisfied while the husband poured his life and interest away in his work and professional life.
She sat alone in the balcony, crunched up on the lounge chair, smoking and staring into nothing. She was in deep thought about nothing in particular. Her eyes were void of any emotions as she persisted to smoke, and stare onto the open window of the opposite building. It was the couple in that apartment, and their closeness that seemed to have grabbed her attention. It bothered her, it tackled her stubborn egoist self-down and demanded her to provide the same. She craved the closness, the warmth and the connection. There was no fighting that feeling away. No matter what the reasons she had, to get married, she now needed to feel the connection. She continued to look at the couple, laughing with each other, dancing, kissing and loving each other as her thoughts wandered off to her recent past.
She had met Rihaan at his Dad's office..on one of the many days where she and her father had a difference of opinion. He worked for her father as his assistant, managing his finances and taking care of any other need Gafoor Farooqi had. He had stood in the corner as the father daughter duo went at it.By the end of the argument, Zoya was red with rage, and Gafoor felt like a defeated, dejected father. Zoya was not the Zoya he had raised for 16 years, and ever since her mothers demise she had done everything she had in her power to tick her father off. She felt his lack of efforts had taken her mother away, which was not true at all.But she was never in the mood to entertain that thought. And so every day she found a new way, a new reason to fight with her father. This time..she had found back up in Rihaan...who had supported her call in a business matter...His support had inflated her ego, and seeing the look in her father's eyes had given her an opportunity, a new challenge to pitch against her dad.
Rihaan very soon became the required catalyst for Zoya. Her dad disapproved her hanging out with him. He knew what she was doing and knew he wasn't the right guy for her.And that very information, she used against him. Soon Rihaan hesitantly agreed to go out on a date with her.He wanted to but was not allowed by Zoya to ask her dad regarding him dating his daughter. One thing led to another and in a matter of a few months ,under the influence of misplaced desires and useless grudges Zoya announced she wanted to marry Rihaan.By then Rihaan had devoted his heart to her.He was no doubt a very reserved and traditional guy by nature but that made the challenge even more adventurous for Zoya. She just wanted a reaction from her dad, his disapproval that she could hold against him. But that never happened. Gafoor Farooqi agreed on their marriage, stating opposites balance each other out and wished them luck.Zoya was disappointed by his approval, but it didn't matter anymore. She stuck by her decision and went through with the marriage. She didn't care about love and gradually they would learn to co-exist. He liked her and that was ok with her.But now it wasn't. Unconsciously her dormant dreams of a happy married life had attached itself with the marriage. And they were as adamant as Zoya in fighting for their rights.
OUCH she snapped as the last bit of the cigarette burned out in her hand and touched her skin. She was back to the present, and the same issues continued to linger around her.
~~
Ayaan meticulously sneaked out of Asad's office and made his way to Zoya's. He needed something and this was the only way.He almost felt bad for his ways, but he was a desperate man and desperation brought out the worst in you. He had to do this, if he wanted the chance to change things around. Cautiously he rummaged through her drawers and folders and her personal stuff. He found nothing. This was frustrating. A month of digging around and he had been unsuccessful in finding one small piece of information. He started her computer and easily cracked her password. He went through her folders and found nothing, her search history, nothing...He was losing his cool.Just than it hit him.He entered his search and there it was.He sighed, pulling out his phone to note it down but just then the door knob clicked, making him jump out of the chair and hastily logging out of her computer. He almost made it to the other side of the table as Zoya opened the door and stopped...
Their eyes met and the air thickened.. Zoya was furious by the time she registered the situation.
W*F are you doing in my office..she almost yelled...silencing the cubicles around, an audience gathering up in a jiffy.
I uh...Ayaan was speechless...He didn't know what to say...His smart mouth betrayed him. Just then Asad's office door opened on the other side and Ayaan swore under his breath. He was very sure he was getting fired. He braced himself as Asad made his way towards Zoya's office. His face gave nothing away, but Ayaan knew better. His eyes were blazing. Ayaan was a dead man.
What seems to be the matter Ms Farooqi..asked Asad, walking in and standing parallel to Zoya and slightly facing her.
Mr Khan I just found your brother, your hired employee red handed in my office.Care to get him to tell me why...she lowered her voices as her eyes met his.The depth of his eyes had made it impossible for her to maintain her composure, let alone the conviction in her tone.Ever since the elevator incident a few weeks ago Zoya had lost her edge around him.She could no longer hold her arrogance in his presence, feeling that every time she tried to be mean he could see right through her. She felt almost naked in front of him, when his eyes looked into her and registered her soul that was willingly on display; just for him. No doubt they still butted horns but over the course of time they had learnt to co-exist.She was sure the unfathomable undercurrent of magnetism between them was one of the major reason of them choosing to stay out of each other's way.
She managed to hold his gaze for another second before his gaze left hers and focused on Asad.He was getting mad, even Zoya knew that.
Care to explain yourself Ayaan..he asked with an iciness in his tone, cool and brutal.
I uh...came his Ayaan's response again..
I am waiting..Asad insited, easily sliding his hands in his pant pockets and standing towering tall in front of Ayaan. He was intimidating him.
Bhaijaan..I uh mean boss...I uh actually I uh I was just..he looked around for some clues and finally seeing a stapler on the table picked it up and gestured towards Asad and Zoya...I was looking for a stapler...cos I couldn't find one in your office..he bluffed...
Sure...and I'll believe you...Mr Ayaan I know you were upto no good so for F**K's sake...
Language Ms Farooqi...insisted Asad...rewarding him a death glare from Zoya.
Ayaan couldn't help but laugh a little...only to stop at Asad's scowl..and Zoya's look.
He's not lying Ms Farooqi.
What do you mean?? Are you trying to tell me that he sneaked into my office, in my absence, without my permission just to get a stapler. Now is that the reason why Rihaan's briefcase there is out of place and my computer light is flickering when I always shut my computer off every night when I leave? Zoya challenged..
Just then Rihaan walked in.
What happened? He asked looking around trying to understand what was going on.
O nothing Rihaan, Mr Ayaan here needed a stapler so he came by my office in my absence and started looking around for it in your briefcase and in my computer files. And Mr Khan is just backing him up.You know the same old same old. The younger brother gets into a mess...and the older brother bails him out...Right Mr Khan..
I don't have time for all this...we need to prep for our 10 am meeting and if you are so sure that he had been sneaking around why don't you check around and let me know.Lets not jump into conlcusions before that. Now if you'll excuse me I need to get going and I need Ayaan for something.Ayaan...he motioned for Ayaan to follow..
..Mark my words...Ayaan... I am onto you and soon I'll catch you... And Mr Khan..this is not over yet...
I know..when is it ever over with you Ms Farooqi, now please excuse us...We'll see each other for the 10 am meeting.
With that Asad started to walk away only to overhear Rihaan lose his cool for the first time as he complained to Zoya.
What the f**k is going on here, why was he trying to get to my briefcase. He went up to it and grabbed it, checking if it was still locked.I don't feel comfortable leaving important stuff here. Please Zoya lock your office from next time. There's a lot of confidential stuff around here.F**k.
Both Asad and Ayaan shared a look before walking back to their office.
~~
Alright mom. I'll cya in a week.I am looking forward to Monday. Yes it's all set up and no don't worry I wont fire Ayaan. I already had a talk with him regarding his sneaking in someone's office and I have made things clear with him, so just let it go.He is quite a handful but not as handful as my business partner. Dealing with her has made me more patients with Ayaan.
Mom stop it, stop fixing me up with random girls. And to answer your question, my business partner is already married and even if she wasn't she is not my kind. I don't want to spend the rest of my life with someone who has no control on her tongue or her emotions.
Ammi enough already, you stop focusing on getting me married and start focusing on getting here. Ya I love you too. Goodnight and take care. I'll cya on Monday.
Asad put the phone down and sighed. His mom had the capacity to reset his thinking patterns. These days, all she talked about was getting him married. In just a matter of a month she had set him up on 3 blind dates expecting him to find his bride in one of them. And when Asad said no, she relentlessly continued to keep looking.
But Asad was nowhere near the thought of marriage or for that matter love. He just didn't not have the desire to do so.His life was already full of complications, and getting oneself a wife would be the most complicated part of his life.
A fleeting image of Zoya passed by as he thought about his wife and just as the thought ceased so did her image. He didn't read too much into it because her thoughts had the capacity to drive him crazy leaving him awake in the dead of the night tossing his tennis ball by the wall and playing catch. She was a constant chaos in his head. Her thoughts, her voice, her actions her expressions, her feel in his arms, her lips on his, her form within his somehow made him lose his cool, his direction and his single minded drive. Justice, for his sister. He stood up and made his way out straightening up as he walked. He needed to talk to Zoya regarding the Japanese delegates she was to go meet in Boston over the weekend.
~~
It was time, and he had set up the perfect trap to set things in motion. It was to look like an accident, but only he would know it wasn't. And once it all fell into place he would finally get to smell his reward and shortly after he would be its master. He sat in his cubicle and chewed on his pen, waiting on the results of his well-planned execution.
After today, after the close call, he knew it was time to act and clear his way.He could wait to sort the smaller details as things progressed but the most important hurdle had to be removed. Soon ,he promised himself, it would be over, he would be having his way with a beautiful Russian and celebrating the triumph of his last act before he retired for good. Then he would burn all the photos of the girls he had claimed, along with his crimes and lead the life of a king. He would own it all.
~~
Hey Shahid what are you upto. You seem to be lost in some deep thoughts huh. What are you thinking bout buddy?? Asked a collogue..
Oh nothing.I am just calculating some expenses that's all.His answer lacked sincierity but his collogue didn't care enough to notice.
He leaned back on his chair and looked ahead. His eyes were blood shot when he looked at the person. His life had changed because of that very person.
~~
Asad knocked on her closed door and waited for her to say come in. No response. He knocked again,Still no response. Giving it a last try he knocked a little harder and this he got the required response.
Come in came Zoya's excited voice. He sighed and braced himself opening the door and closing it behind him. He needed some uninterrupted time with her. Important and crucial information needed to be passed on to Zoya for her meeting.
He shut the door and turned around,
AAA screamed Zoya...
Asad stood rooted to his spot..shocked beyond his sanity at what he saw in front of him.
So ya that was is..I hope it wasn't very choppy I am trying to get this story moving but I still have to build up the characters a little..so please share your honest opinions with me and let me know how you felt about it...I wont be giving out anything about the suspense just yetl...but I am sure..that some of you will catch some hints here and there...and if u do..please share...apart from that..I'll try and update more frequently...all depends how busy work is...but I will keep it moving...
Second Laslty... I would really appreciate it...if the silent readers..and the not so keen on this story readers can atleast drop by a small comment and a like...I just need that boost to pick up speed...so if u can..it will be of great help...I'll still write even if that doesn't happen...but that just makes my day and makes my writing a little easy to do..so ya..
And Laslty...what are your opinions on a story based on a writer and a rockstar???? Your response on this will decide the fate of this possible story...so let me know..
Chalo I'll get going...and I'll leave you to guess...why Zoya screamed...and why was Asad shocked...
