Significance of the shower scene: Please think of the bigger picture rather than the details of that scene.
I know a number of you were disgusted by the shower scene yesterday. That scene was the final straw that broke Humeira's silent suffering. Humeira's outburst was much needed because :
1. It was a wake up call or reality check for Zoya. If zoya was being subconsciously pulled into the bahu/wife role, Humeira's outburst put an end to it.
2. Now when zoya talks about her taa umr commitment to nikaah, it would never be in the context of her nikaah with Ayaan.
3. There wouldn't be any guilt or awkwardness when she is back at the KV with her Mr. Khan.
4. She would happily accept the dissolution of the nikaah despite her strong principles about nikaah
