Serendipity. Ser.en.dip.i.ty. S-e-r-e-n-d-i-p-i-t-y.
That's what she was. A string of eleven letters, the music of five syllables as the word leaves his lips.
She was certainly not supposed to just float into his life, like a breath of fresh air, a ray of sunshine, a cloud of fallen rose petals. An honest mistake, she was. But are mistakes supposed to feel so right, be so correct?
Finding her was a complete and utter accident. A stroke of luck, a happy chance, a pleasant surprise, like that moment of joy when you find a shiny penny or receive a free cookie. She was that moment of curiosity, that sense of ecstasy, the one who could bright up your life with a blink of those dark hope-filled eyes, and a flash of that deep-cut dimple.
He was simple. The everyday, humdrum routine, whizzing by, day after day, week after week. Plain and simple, like the single scoop of smooth vanilla ice cream, lying there in its ordinary glory.
She was a tornado, a hurricane that lost its way, and crashed into his very existence. And with the very sound of her tinkling laughter, her sweet, singsong voice, everything he had molded to perfection hung askew.
