Sorry this is off topic but I completely disagree with your statement about parents hitting their kids. No human being has the right to raise their hand at anyone be it a child or an adult. If adults can't find an appropriate, decent and firm way of disciplining their kids - they don't deserve to be parents! Scaring and threatening a child is abuse.

There are better ways to teach a child the difference between right and wrong and all violence is going to do is make sure that the kid resents the parents for the rest of his life.

Children are like a brand new computer and you need to feed them good, logical explanations to fill their CPU's(brains) with information.

They only difference is that computers come with a manual and children don't. But computers don't have feelings and children do. Computers do not have a brain but children do. Children do understand if things are explained to them properly and in a language they understand. Most parents stop children from mischief or doing something inappropriate for a child but they do not explain to the child why they should not do it and what are the repercussions if they do.

I have a 9 year old and i have never had to hit her ever. When she drew on the walls, I sat her down and asked her if she loved her house, to which she replied YES. Then i asked her if she had a beautiful house to which she replied YES. Last question was after showing her the lines she drew on the wall and asked does or would her house still look beautiful' if she continued with that and she said NO. That was the first and last she drew on the wall. And mind you she was 3 then.

This is just a simple example of how a child can be made to understand without hitting. Most parents would have scolded and maybe hit the child for doing that.

So Hitting a child because of any misdoings by them is a NO NO for me. They just need to be made to understand what the did wrong in their language and at their level.
