why does Karan say in the beginning "nice, sweet" after Surbhi says "its all red again"? Was that a reference to a conversation that happened in the last interview or something?

That's a problem about which we can't do anything. Only Surbhi can solve it. Hope she understands.

Karan says that seeing Surbhi with the glasses. If Surbhi was referring to old conversation, I am not sure about that.
