Generally, I like to think that I watch a fictional show for superficial reasons, without digging too deep for hidden morals and messages.

But, this suicide aspect is really bothering me. It's leading the drama so it's here to stay, I guess. However, I believe that Nikhat has been a bland character, when it comes to standing up for herself. Some have called it a creative touch by the makers so that women around the world can relate to the ordeals she's facing. And that's perfectly fine. But the makers have an obligation to get the message across that suicide isn't the answer if they are choosing to venture into such a sensitive territory.

And no, I'm not swayed by the "it's just a show" argument here.

Dear Jazz,
Since I love you a lot... I was able to interpret and understand your comment with heart to heart telepathy. It saved me a phone call to my ELA teacher.
I will not give you it's just a show argument here. It is the Show, which is raising issues.
very rampant issues... but they are tackling it also and giving a social message.
How I see it from this point is Nikhat will regret the fact that because of her 4 lives were destroyed. She should in the next week or so say " I should not have done that .. it was not the solution, my suicide attempt created so many problems. I was selfish and a big time IDIOT "
Then Gul will not redeem Imran and Farhan. She will make both of them Grey characters.
Hence proving that having a married life like Najma and Nikhat is simply not worth it.
Educate your girls , make them independent. Marriage is not the only option girls have.
Empower your girl child. Raise her as a blessing not a Burden"

Gul is a greedy woman who is after TRP any kind of social message or even showing Muslims in a good ligh is beyond her. Only reason she added the rajbeer track was to appear progressive be ause she knew how regressive er next twist is. The difficult part is that it is all in name of entertainment and she is laughing on her way to the bank.

Jazz,
Shakespeare said it already in Hamlet. Irony is His Mom was married to her Brother In Law
To be, or not to be: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep; No more; and by a sleep to say we end The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep; To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub; For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil.

I'm on my phone now, so my Times New Romans awesomeness has to go.

Anyways, your counterargument merely serves to strengthen my point Amber. What stabilizes Nikhat's will to live? What changed? Certainly not Nikhat's perception about herself. Given, she will regret her decision. But only for others. Not for herself. Killing yourself would still be presented as a viable option, as long as you're not hurting others.

Now, if Nikhat is shown as a dignified woman who decides to not let society dictate her life, I'll be the first one to eat my words.

P.S.: I would appreciate it if my comment is not misconstrued in quotes as bashing. I would prefer not to talk about how afflicted Gul, or anyone for that matter, is with avarice.
