Small steps jazz, while we have come a long way still miles to go..
Its not only female life , its life in general that is not valued in so many countries. Poverty , lack of education and other social stigmas contribute to the society's thinking.
Nikhat cannot become a confident and empowered woman overnight.
she has not been raised that way. But she can do something about it slowly , like raise her daughters as an independent , strong willed female.
its not only India. USA still does not have a female president after 200 plus years of in dependence.
but with girls like you, we have hope. The future looks promising
to quote mlk
Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.

We can't condone something just because it's common. I, personally, will not give Qubool Hai a pass on this just because Country A or City B also demonstrates similar practices. We need to raise our standards and stop looking for negativity in order to facilitate lowering the bell curve.

As for your argument about the change not happening overnight, I partially agree. But the first step, her first spark of incentive/motivation, should be her restoration of dignity and the will to live. Thinking about others can come later. Do I sound like a bitch? Ah, such is life. I have learned that you yourself are more important than anyone else. And anyone who tries telling you any different needs to shut up.

I am not speaking of gender equality here Amber, as your comment about the female presidents insinuates. I am merely pointing out the fact that as an individual, regardless of her gender, Nikhat should value her life. She should decide that she wants to live for the sake of being alive, not for others.

@Bold:: 😳 😳 You're a real sweetheart.

Shortage of knives lol.. At least they can call a blood bank, at least some poor soul will benefit frm all the blood letting😛
Endogenous depression (depression bcoz of chemical imbalance in the brain) is a disease which could lead to suicide... What Nikhat has exogenous depression( there is a reason for the depression which can be removed).. N what Gul is showing is in effect its ok to take ur life when the going gets tough or tougher... Especially if u have brothers who will sacrifice theirs n their loves' life ...
I'm not sure Zoya should run away either.. She should just put her foot down n say she is in love with asad n the Ayaan nikah was a mistake... In the end she would be doing Nikhat a gr8 favor if Nikhat doesn't marry farhan...
