This OS starts from when Asad brings Zoya back to KM, as Ayan's wife, as he and the whole world believes and declares her to be...
Billi has caught Zoya at her lowest, spewing out her venom😡...she had banked on Asad leaving Zoya at SM...and later on, playing the whiny Imran card to marry a now broken and single Asd who would want to save Najma's marriage, at least...but Zoya being brought back, throws water at her plans😃...so she decides to make life more miserable for Zoya😡, since that is what she is good at.😡
Billi has rubbed it in on Zoya that she will never be fit for Asad,😡 now that she has been declared married in public...that things will never be the same for Asad- he might marry Zoya for fulfilling his promise to her...but beyond duty, his heart is well and truly broken😭...and Zoya is so ashamed and scared and shocked that she half believes she indeed betrayed Mr. Khan- unknowingly, accidentally, but she betrayed his love...and THINGS WILL NEVER BE THE SAME...(Actually, I think this OS is inspired by Sadie's...which was better written- so please don't compare...😳)
*********************************************************
I BETRAYED YOU.
Zoya tossed and turned in her bed...It had been a harassing experience...the worst nightmare of her life. By a twist of fate, she had got accidentally married to Ayan- a nikah she did not accept even now, when the whole world kept hammering it in her ears...a ritual she ceased to respect anymore, considering how it was forced on her...and him..and broken two love stories. She hated them all- the qasis, the society, the whole bloody world, and anything that came between her and Mr. Khan.
But she was forced to consider...Tanveer's words rang in her ears- Tum Assad ke laayak nahi ho, Zoya...' She had stung...she had elaborated quite clearly...
"Tum kehti thi ki main Asad ki laayak nahi hoon..Ab dekho, kya hua...Tumhi Asad ke layak nahi ho gayi...Tum ne..Tumne...Jaakar Asad ke bhai se nikah kar liya, Zoya...kitni ajeeb si baat hai..tum bhale isse qubool kare ya na kare, Asad ne iss nikah ko qubool kiya hai. Aur TUM ASAD KO JAANTI nahi ho...Main Jammy ko achhi tarah se jaanti hoon...usske dil mein yeh Zindagi bhar ke liye EK BAHUT BADA BHOJ BANKE RAHEGAA...ki ussne usske bhai ke biwi ke saath...chahe talaq bhi ho jaye...lekin yeh sach kabhi badalne waala nahi hai, Zoya. Tum kisi aur ki ho gayi hai, tum Asad ke layak nahi hai..."
The words were repeating themselves over and over like a tape recorder and there was only one thought her heart kept reminding her MAIN AAPKE LAYAK NAHI HOON, MR. KHAN! ...until that sounded like the ONLY TRUTH she would have to live with all her life..and MAKE HIM LIVE WITH, TOO...
The more she thought about it, the more sure she was about it. Tanveer was right. Mr. Khan was a man who believed in tehzeeb and tameez- in being PROPER always...living by the book, adhering to rules...his INTEGRITY WAS MOST IMPORTANT TO HIM. And she had burnt a hole right through that honour...a hole that would never mend, no matter what she did. Her actions, however innocent and unintended, and well meaning...had turned his world upside down, shattered the principles of a man who wanted to live a virtuous life. Was it true? If he married her now, it would only be to keep his word to her? Their nikah after this whole mess was solved, would only be a bondage to a heart broken man, keeping his honour?
If so, wouldn't she be selfish...not to let him go...
She had seen the evidence of that already...he had been deaf to her pleas...she knew it killed him to drag her like that...but he did what he felt was right, as always...and would continue to do so. He was a man of words... and action...and she respected that about him. He had been silent through the drive back home, he had looked collapsed. She had not been able to get through to him, ever since the wretched news was broken to him...
He was so much a man who aspired for perfection...and she had made it imperfect for him.
Should she not allow him another opportunity at finding the perfect partner he always wished for? IT KILLED HER. IT KILLED HER.IT KILLED HER...But she did not want to let go...he was hers, only hers...
And she had ruined his dreams, aspirations, all the high ideals he strove by...Ya Allah! Was muqaddar telling her something? That she did not belong to him??? That she belonged nowhere?
Asad stood transfixed bythe window. It was still not sinking in...Hours back, he had been teasing Zoya...He had been an eager bridegroom; and she, an enthusiastic bride.
Now, she was another man's bride... IT KILLED HIM...How their dreams had been shattered...and he was not blaming any one, but fate...the INJUSTICE OF IT ALL...He wanted to bang his head against the wall to make it go away, but this was not going away. The deed was done- Zoya was not his, for whatever time the maulavis decreed, to call it an appropriate period before breaking off a nikah.
He hated them all...but most of all, he hated himself...for having to drag her through this...a mistake he had forced her to acknowledge...in the most heinous way. All along, Zoya had repeated that nikah was a life long commitment for her- a dream.
He had just solemnised what she considered a mistake, and make her go through the unhappy experience of a talaq- a fate no woman deserved. Yet he had to, because what was a mistake had been blown out into epic proportions...he knew he had not wronged Nikhat...that his decision had been right. But he hated himself for the way he dragged Zoya...and forced her to sign the damned document. He had asked her to trust him, and she had unwillingly yielded.
HE HAD BROKEN HER, FINALLY...No amount of barbed words and harsh decisions in the past had done that..he had tried to chide her in so many ways, but Zoya had not lost her zest. BUT TODAY, HE KNEW SHE HAD BEEN BROKEN BY HIM.
She could have run away, to live her life as it pleased her...live by her set of rules...but she had chosen to be with him, be forced by him.
But that last look of resignation she shot at him after she signed the bloody thing- IT KILLED HIM...'Why did you do this to me, Mr. Khan?'. She had been nothing but a lifeless statue through the return journey...no more tears, no more pleas... SHE HAD MEEKLY ACCEPTED IT FINALLY.
He wanted so badly to go to her, hold her in a tight embrace- BEG HER TO FORGIVE HIM, REASSURE HER, HOLD HER HANDS AND TELL HER THAT THINGS WOULD BE RIGHT IN A SHORT WHILE... but his hands were tied.
She was another man's wife...and his religion clearly told him, he would be committing adultery if he did not respect and treat her as such, for now...
Fate had betrayed them and he had betrayed her blind trust in him...
******************************************************************
P.S:
1. I agree, the second last line is a little too much😆...I was reminded of how he wouldn't hug her ever since the news...even when he could see she was clearly broken...partly because, he was broken himself, and partly because...'aapka nikah ho gaya' and usski sahi jagah usske shauhar ke saath hai'... And the way he pleaded with her to leave his hand...he considers it as adultery, UNTIL their mohabbat can rescue them both out of this.
2. I purposely called her another man's wife, because I see it only that way...I don't see the brother triangle here..simply AsYa with any man coming between them.
3. From the spoiler that seems to indicate hat Zoya will not stay back in SM...I hope the key to the problem is also offered after the nikahnama...the most important thing about rituals AND ELABORATE CLAUSES in Islamic marriage is that a woman shall not be forced in any way into a marriage...and Zoya has clearly been FORCED BY THE SOCIETY...I hope that isuue comes to fore in the show.
4. Shreya,
U asked what damage Tanveer can do- she can break an already broken Zoya...but I feel she will not get near Asad.
5. Hope U all liked the OS.😳 Hurriedly written and posting it without much proof reading.
