I would like to know if in Islam a woman is allowed to divorce or only a man can call it off?

Firstly, Islam gives both men and women the right to get a divorce. Secondly this isnt even a valid marriage, the way Islamic marriages are meant to be conducted, there is no way for someone to marry someone else by mistake. They didnt even say Qubool three times, they said "Haan" once. I dont think Zoya's name was even correct, there was no mahr decided. Etc...

so lets keep islam out of it.

besides that, i didn't like ayaan asking for zoya or asad deciding zoya has to go to SM. but at the end, the final decision will be Zoya's. I am think anyone is going to hold and gun to her head, or or lock her up in SM. If Zoya's conscious tells her this is wrong she can walk out at any given time. But i have a feeling she will also feel bad for Nikhaat and agree to this tomorrow, and if she doesn't then like I said, she can say NO and walk out at anytime. I don't think anyone is handcuffing her to SM.

And Nikhaat, well I have no words for her. Her parents seem to be more so desperate to get rid of her and her own self confidence has been shattered. Maybe they should send her to Bali for vacation or something.

the precap clearly showed that Zoya is been forced and dragged by Asad ...it's not Zoya's consent at all.

I really dont want to be preachy and I am not even very educated in all the laws of my religion. but I just want you to know that as far as I know, Islam firstly allows both men and women to get divorced. Also a man cant get divorced just by yelling "thalak" three times at once. it has to be through the course of three months, and that rule was done for the exact reason that most couple wish for a divorce in a fit of anger. those three months are given in order for the couple to calm down and think about their decision. Also, the only different between how a woman can give divorce and how a man can give divorce is that a man can initiate the divorce process without going to court, whereas if a woman wants to initiate a divorce she either tells her husband to initiate it (if the divorce is mutual) or she goes to court for divorce.

i really hate talking about religion like this, and I really am not a scholar but with all due respect, please don't use a movie or TV as an accurate source about the laws of any religion. I mean, these days if you are curious about any religion, you can literally just google information about it.

As for Asad and Zoya, im going to wait to see what goes down tomorrow, because today I thought I was going to hate Asad but I was surprisingly happy with him. So i wont judge anything by the precap. But I will always stand firm on the point that if Zoya doesn't agree can she leave. She doesn't have to live at SM, she doesn't have to live with Asad. Asad may force her to go to SM, but she can always walk right out of there and go back to NY or anywhere she wants. Clearly, she has given enough speeches on being a free woman, not needed anyone's permission or help and blah blah blah so time to put her money where her mouth is.

Totally agree with you on this. It's her choice to how cheap and lowly she wants to be ot stand up for herself and her rights.😕

i don't really get what you mean by cheap or lowly. Zoya would be 100% to walk out of this if she feels its being forced on her. but i hope this is a mutual decision Asya make as a unit. I hope Asad and Zoya at some point have a conversation about this bc Asad has no right to force Zoya to do this. But Zoya and Ayaan are in some indirect way responsible to Nikhaat's situation so I feel that she will agree to do this out of guilt just like Asad.

no worries...information is always good...but my post is on the specific word ' Commodity' here a woman is been shown as a commodity in the pretext of religious laws. This is extremely regressive.

I am sorry but I cannot really hold Ayan or Zoya responsible for Nikhat...it was bad judgement and circumstantial and unfortunate events and as for Nikhat...I am sorry, I cannot sympathize with a self wallowing and self -pitying woman who tries to commit suicide just because she can't get married...it's pathetic. I work in a women's shelter where I see women fighting back after a horrendous experience. This is just nonsense that they are showing.

Nikhat has a family who has resources and will support her in anything she wants to do. So she did not get married. Such a travesty she decides to committ suicide . I have zero sympathy for her. I have known good single women who are extremely productive. I have seen women battle cancer and still maintaining their will to survive. I have zero sympathy for Nikita and her dumbass mother who has given her so less self worth. As forzoya, never thought Gil will reduce a headstrong independent girl into a bartered prostitute a wife lent for a little time by her pimp mr asad Ahmed khan.

I was seriously upset for and upset at Nikhat today. Upset for her that she is a puppet in Haseena's hands, upset at her for letting it happen. She knew the kind of woman Haseena was and agreeing to marry Farhan though understandable was foolish and fraught with the danger of the alliance being called off at the last moment. I wish she had found a guy from a nicer family. Both brothers may be good but have no backbone, talking about Farhan and Imran.
