Hey! I think you read some of my fictions (the ID seems familiar) and I fall into this category as well but I would like to explain ourselves.

1. We have personal lives, which means we prioritize. School/College aside, I think helping out with my mom's surprise party would be a little above on the list here.

2. QUALITY writing takes a long time. It takes 3-4 hours for a single update of mine, not because I'm slow but because I like choosing the right words, making sure I described each passage to the best of my ability, making sure it's not cliche or too fluff, making sure it makes sense according to the characters I developed, adding in the dialogues, getting confused on how to best explain a situation and then finally figuring it out, proofreading, rewriting, then posting it to IF making sure the formatting is right (and this takes a long time), then sending out the PMs, it takes a lot of time. And we don't even get paid for this, yet we put this much effort in for every chapter. So if we're active on the forum but not updating, it's because roaming the forum takes like half an hour and updating takes 3-4 hours of hard work straight. If you want crap then sure we can update everyday, "He was lukin for Zoya. Were da hell iz she? He waz worried? But y? He dnt luv her! Bt thn y waz his hrt waiting 4 her?" If you want that crap then sure we'll update everyday!

3. Writer's Block- again do you want us to post crap? We have a story in mind, developed, but if we are just too stressed out to think about how to move it along to reach its destination, do you want us to just put in "Filler Chapters? until we figure it out? It'll be a waste of time for you and the writer.

3. The dig on our character in the post. Hurtful, incorrect and certainly not needed.

4. Again--we don't get paid for this! We're doing it out of our love for the characters, the story, and writing as an art! And we're posting it on IF so everyone can read our hard work. If a writer writes just for readers, than he's not a writer, he's an attention seeker.

But all aside I understand your sentiments, but you have to understand ours too. It's flattering that you get so attached to our Fics but you have to respect our decision knowing we didn't discontinue it just for the heck of it.

First of all, I would like to clarify that I am not a writer in any sense. I am solely a reader that truly appreciates all the writers on this forum.

Now that that's out of the way, you talk about valuing readers. Value is a two-way road. I hope you do realize that behind all the stories, there is a writer. A writer that has a personal life, but chooses to invest a good part of their lives to provide free entertainment to us. They are, by no means, obligated to us. It seems like we need to be reminded of that. Just like the readers aren't obligated to comment (it is appreciated if they do), the writers aren't obligated to update.

Also, as a helpful hint, putting "no offence, my opinion" next to offensive stuff does absolutely nothing. It was still offensive.

P.S.: I'm not bashing. This is my opinion. No offence.

Hi Pari,
Thanks for considering me among the esteemed list of writers on this forum.
I am quite new here but I value every input and advise that comes my way.
Thanks for the idea of Precap. I will put a thought to it and see how it works with me. I also think if I can end my last chapter with a lurking prelude I don't need a precap.
Time constraints is definitely playing a part here for me and my writing. I plan to update only on every weekend because that is the only time I get to write.
While I agree with incomplete storylines left mid air for months. And as a reader I would like to see a finish. However I am equally obliged for any update at all, every one has a personal life and their priorities. This is probably just a hobby that takes a side kick to actual life.
On your idea of recaps- I don't get the point neither as a reader nor a writer. The reader can easily point a back arrow and read what the last chapter was.
Recap on television is for people who may have missed the episode. As reader I would want to read further and not contemplate and make sense of what is already given.
Thanks for this post. Much Appreciated.

While I understand the demande of a recap I also understand what are writers talking about...

I dont think that someone can forget about what happened in a FF more then me...there are 2 reasons for that...1st I read a LOT of FF...and 2nd that I forget some of them...😆

Many times I have to read the last chapter or the whole story when writers up-date...But we cant forget that they arent obligated to up-date or even start/finish their stories...its theirs, No matter how much we love and admire a FF, its not ours...so they dont own us anything...and saying that yes, a recap will be much appreciated by me more then anyone else...😃 lol

P.s. When I was new on IF, I was amazed by writers here who PM their readers...PM...😲 and I am still amazed by that fact...😆

Hi Pari,

I know I'm guilty of going on a sabbatical 🤔 Sorry 😭 But I'm dealing with some unavoidable issues.. and just can't write right now. But I promise I'll update as soon as I get a chance. And I promise I'll start taking the recap idea into consideration 😊

And when I get time, I'll add a small recap to all other udpates. I did on the Mendhi TS, and on the new thread for Meri Jashbhaat.

Thanks for the suggestion hun! Sorry again. I'll make a better effort, to update more frequently. 😃

But I can't make any promises! As this situation is very unpredictable.. and is really taking a toll.

I DONT MIND TO GIVE A RECAP BUT IF THERE ARE ANY READER THEN WHY SHOULD I GIVE ANY.

~~~Bharti~~~
I agree with you Bharti. I send out 200+ PM's and sometimes don't even get half the amount of comments.. it's a little disheartening. But I still write for those who do leave me beautiful comments, and beg me to update.
