Chapter 6

The EID day.. the house was decorated for the evening function. Dilshad had grounded Asad in home as he was planning to leave to office for a meeting. Najma was busy in getting ready and Zoya was sad that she is not with her Aapi for EID and happy that she is spending with such a nice family which she wished to have some day!!

It was evening and Zoya was ready with purple and green color Anarkali.. with the minimal make up.. she was looking like an angel!! Asad could not take his eyes from her.. so as other people.. which made Asad more angry.. he was making simple reasons to be with her so as he avoid the gazes on her..

Asad took Zoya to the group of people whom Najma was having fun with.. when Asad came they all stopped talking and looked the girl beside him.. the only guy from that group came and held Zoya's hand..

Guy: Masha Allah..!!! shayad aapko hi dakke Khoobsoorath ko naam mila hoga!!!

Zoya (confused): excuse me??!!

Guy: no need..!! I told that you are beautiful!!

Zoya (little pissed): I know that!! Muje samaj mein aya.. par aap hai kaun??!!!

Guy: oh..!!! Naam mein kya likha hai mallika!! Asli pehchan tho dil se hai!!!

Asad couldn't take it anymore..

Asad (angrily): stop it Ayaan!!! Else I will break your hand..!! leave her hand now!!

Zoya looked at Asad in confusion thinking how on earth Asad ended up knowing this kind of person!!!

Asad: Zoya.. this is my brother Ayaan!!!

Zoya: Oh.. tabi tho!!! Nice meeting you Ayaan..

Asad: Ayaan this is Zoya.. she is guest at our home!!

Ayaan: Nice meeting you too.. bhaijaan aap kabse guests ko rakhne lage??

Asad: Tameez se Ayaan.. yeh Ammi ki door ki riste daar hai!!

Zoya looked at him confused.. why he needed to lie like that??!!

Ayaan: thk hai bhaijaan..!!! Zoya.. aur aapke baarein mein kuch bataye!!

Zoya looked at Asad again.. Telling him to stop his brother who is hitting on her from the time she had met him!!

Asad: Shut up Ayaan..!! Zoya these are my sisters!! Nikhat and Humaria!!

Zoya smiled at them too.. they were pretty looking girls..

Zoya did not understand why they were staying in separate house?? She did not want to ask him now.. she thought she will ask later!!

They all became friends with each other soon.. Zoya like Ayaan slowly..he was fun loving and carefree guy.. she thought he was like her only.. they gelled with each other fast!!

Ayaan: Tho Zoya aap NY se hai??!!

Zoya: HA.. !!!

Ayaan: Toh waha achi achi ladkiyan hongi na??!!! muje tho ek baar jana hai!!\

Zoya: Hahaha.. Ayaan..!! tum bhi na??!! ek baar mein waha jake tuje call karungi..ajana.. milke masti karenge..

Ayaan: Best plan hai..!!

Asad did not like their bonding... She was laughing and clapping while speaking with him.. he simply stared at them..

The function was over.. Zoya went back to her room and she missed her Aapi very much.. She then changed to her night ware and made her way to the garden..as she entered she remembered how last time when she had come Asad was with her and he had apologized her!! She just smiled to herself and sat on the bench!!!

After some tome Dilshad joined her.. She saw that Zoya was staring at the stars and tears in her eyes..

Dilshad: kyu beta.. kya hua??

Zoya: Kuch nehi Phupi.. Ammi aur Abbu ki yaad agayi..!!

Dilshad: Hmm.. isiliye taaron se baatein horahi hai??

Zoya: ha..jab bhi Ammi yaad aathi hai tho taaron se baath karthi hu!!!

Dilshad: Acha..Ismein tumhari Ammi aur Abbu kaun hai??

Zoya looked at Dilshad.. Dnt know why.. she felt like she saw her mom!! She thought she can share all secrets with her.. she was so loving and caring.. Zoya wanted to share her past with someone.. Someone who will not judge her!!! Who will simply listen instead of showing sympathy!!!

Zoya: Sirf Ammi phupi..!! Abbu nehi!!

Dilshad looked at Zoya questioningly!!! Zoya continued..

Zoya: Phupi mein bahut choti thi jab meri Ammi muje chodke chali gayi.. unke death, fire accident mein hua tha!!! Mere Abbu muje chadke chalegaye.. patha nehi kaha..!!! usi time mein mere Aapi ne muje adaption centre se adapt kiya.. woh aur jiju muje America leke gaye.. mein wahi pali badi hu.. muje woh log bahut pyaar kartein hai..!!! yahi Bhopal se muje leke gaye the..!! par hamesha se muje ek hi baath khayi jaathi hai ki mere Abbu muje chodke kyu gaye?? Phupi.. muje aur kuch nehi chahiye.. sirf ye janna hai ki Abbu ne aisa kyu kiya?? Kyu muje chodke chale gaye jab muje unki itni Zaroorath thi!!! Muje patha chala ki woh yahi Bhopal mein hai.. isiliye Aapi aur Jiju se 3 months ka permission leke aayi!!! Muje mere Abbu ko dundna hai..!!!

Dilshad had tears in her eyes.. she did not know this girl had seen so much in such young age.. she always felt that her children had faced more difficulty in life.. but now she felt her's is nothing in front of Zoya.. She simply hugged Zoya..'

Dilshad: Listen beta.. I will pray Allah to full fill your wishes.. you have full right to know about your Abbu.. don't feel bad for that.. you can be here as long as you want and we will help you in all matter..!!

Zoya hugged Dilshad tightly.. they spoke for some more time.. later Dilshad took her to the room and made her sleep.. Now she really felt bad for this girl..

It was late night, Asad in his room was walking restlessly.. he could not understand his latest change of thinking towards Zoya.. he always wanted to be around her.. be with her, think of her, he did not understand why he was angry on Ayaan when he was just flirting with her..he failed to understand his emotions towards her.. Just then he heard a scream.. he came outside his room and looked at the direction it came and it was from Zoya's!!!

He was about to go when Dilshad went running to Zoya's room.. he simply followed his Ammi.. the door was not locked as Dilshad had left last!! Dilshad just went inside to see Zoya sitting on the bed and panicking.. she had sweat drops all over her face.. when she saw Dilshad coming in..

Zoya (frightened and holding Dilshad tightly) she was stammering telling incomplete sentences: Phupi... Aag..!!! muje bachaiye.. Aag.. !!

Dilshad (caressing her all over): Kuch nehi Zoya.. koi aag nehi.. tum mere saath ho.. kuch nehi hoga tuje..!!!

Zoya: Aag.. phupi ammi..!!!

Dilshad (held Zoya's face): Look at me.. nothing is here..!!! you are here with me.. relax.. just relax..

Zoya controlled her sobs and hugged Dilshad.. Najma gave a glass of water to her.. Zoya drank little..

Zoya (calming herself): Sorry.. meine aap sabko disturb kiya.. aap jayiye.. mein sojaungi..

Asad felt like prick in his heart looking at this state of Zoya.. when she was talking like that he tried to make sense.. he thought he will think later.. now when Zoya told she will sleep.. he did not want to leave her alone.. He thought he will tell his Ammi to stay.. but before that..

Dilshad: No beta.. no need sorry and all.. I will stay with you.. you go to sleep..

She turned..

Dilshad: Asad and Najma.. tum dono jao.. I will be with her..

Asad was relaxed that his Ammi decided to stay!!! Once they are gone Dilshad turned to Zoya..

Dilshad: Itna kyu gabrathi ho beta.. sab thk hojayega..

Zoya kept her head on Dilshad's lap..

Zoya: Phupi.. meri aapi kehrahi thi ki meine shayad apni Ammi ka death hote hue dekha hai aur isiliye muje aise darawne sapne atein hain!!! I dnt know still how long I should be with all these baggages with me!!

Dilshad caressed her hair and told her to sleep and not to worry much. After some time Asad got up from his after trying nth time to sleep.. he was constantly worried about her.. he decided to check on her..so he went to her room.. the scene he saw just brought smile in him..he saw Zoya sleeping soundly in his Ammi's lap.. he had observed that Zoya and Ammi were becoming close day by day.. he remember now how ammi had acted at that time like it was not a unknown thing to her when Zoya shouted in sleep.. just then Dilshad saw her son standing near the door and smiling.. she started at him briefly but he did not realize.. he was busy looking at Zoya..Dilshad moved slowly to disturb Asad's concentration.. she acted like she did not see him.. he came inside..

Asad (softly): Ammi.. Ms. Farookhi so gayi??!!

Dilshad just nodded her head.. she signaled Asad to help her in placing Zoya properly on bed.. Asad hesitantly held by her shoulder and Dilshad held her stomach.. they made her to bed and came out.. they went to their respective rooms..

Next day

Dilshad was in the kitchen preparing breakfast.. as the fasting was over it was now back to normal routine.. Asad got ready to office and came to dining table.. he could not control.. he slowly went to Zoya's room and peeked inside.. she was still asleep.. she was looking so fresh with a small smile in her face like a fresh blossomed flower in the garden!!.. he wished that he could see this face all time.. then he simply came out.. He then silently sneaked to his chair in the table.. Dilshad observed her son and smiled herself!! She got a hint that her son is falling for this girl.. Dilshad couldn't be less happy..!!

Then Najma and Zoya joined for breakfast..they all ate with their usual chit chat and Asad busy glancing at Zoya now and then.

Dilshad: Zoya.. Najma aaj college jarahi hai aur afternoon lunch keliye hum dono hi hai.. kahi bahar jakar Karen??

Zoya: Ok phupi..par muje kuch aur kaam hai. Mein abhi nikalthi hun.. mein aapko seedha restaurant mein milungi..

Asad looked at Zoya wondering what work she has..later it came to his mind that she had come here in regarding some work only!!

Dilshad: ok.. you sure you will go alone??

Zoya: ji phupi..i will be fine.. dnt worry!!

Asad came to know one thing.. his Ammi was very close to Zoya and she probably knows what Zoya was doing..this made him relax..

Dilshad: fine then.. I will see you in the restaurant..!!

Najma: Zoya..!! aapne uss din muje photos dikhai thi na?? Aapko us building ke barein mein janna than a?? Aapne pucha bhaijaan se??

Asad looked at Zoya and Najma. Zoya looked at Asad and thought whether to ask or not..then Asad,

Asad: Kya photos?? Kya buildings Ms Farookhi??

Zoya got up from there and went to her room to get the photos..then showed it to Asad. Asad looking at the photos..

Zoya: Mr. Kahn.. aap batha sakthein hai ki yeh photos mein jo buildings hai kaha ki hai??

Asad: Ms Farooki yeh shaya Bhopal mein jo bade masjid hai.. uske paas ka building hai.. kafi purani hai woh..

Zoya was very excited hearing this. She still had hopes in finding her father. She decided that she will go today only and find out more. This brought smile in her face..

Zoya: thanks Mr. Khan.. this really meant a lot..!!

Asad was confused looking at her smile and excitement.. he did not know what she was upto and this really worried him for unknown reason..!!

Asad: its ok Ms. Farookhi.. but I hope ki aap kuch ulti seedhi kaam nehi karahi hai!!!

Zoya: Allah miyaan whats wrong with you Mr. Khan.. aap ko aisa kyu lagtha hai ki mein ulti seedhi kaam karthi hun??

Asad: woh bhi muje bathana padega aapko Ms. Farookhi??!! Aapne sirf aisa hi kaam kiya hai..!!

Both Dilshad nad Najma were having a wonderful time in breakfast table.. it felt like now they were leaving in an house..!!

Dilshad: Asad!! Bas karo.. woh kahrahi hai na.. woh important hai uskeliye.. kyu bachari pe itna chillatein ho??

Asad: Ammi.. kitni baar bolu aapko..woh bechari nehi hai!!!

Zoya:its ok phupi..!! mein abhi jarahi hun.. lunch pe milungi.. aap resturent ka naam call karke batadijiya muje..cya..

Zoya left without looking at him as she was mad at him. He came to know that. He was looking at the door where she had left. His face had worried look and Dilshad observed this.

Dilshad: chintha math karo Asad.. woh kuch galath kaam nehi karahi hai!!

Asad: I hope so ammi..! muje patha hai ki aapko sab malum hai isiliye mein use jane diya..

Dilshad: ha.. lekin muje yeh nehi samaj mein nehi aaraha hai ki tumhe itna chintha kyu hai??!!

Asad (looking at Dilshad, in straight voice): kyun ki woh mehmaan hai.. agar kuch hogaya tho hum zimmedaar honge aur muje aapko aur tension hote hue nehi dekhna hai..!!

Dilshad (controlling her laugh): ok beta..i understand!!

Asad: thk hai Ammi.. mein nikaltha hun..tamatar chalo mein tumhe college tak drop kardetha hun!!!

They both left and Dilshad started cleaning and planning for the restaurant to go..

In city:

Zoya was near the mazjid and was searching for the building. She was hoping that she will ask few people staying near that building about her abbu. But to her fate she coudnt find that building. She was searching for a long time when she found an old man.

Zoya: salam wallikum.. kya aap muje batha saktein hai ki yeh jo building hai photo mein woh yaha kaha hai??

Old man (looking at the photo): wallikum salaam beti.. yeh tho kafi purani lagthi hai..!! muje lagthe hai kiyeh building ab nehi hai.. das saal pehle iss building ko aura as paas ke sab dukaanon ko thodke ab ek bada wala shopping centre hai!!!

Zoya: aap atleast muje yeh batha saktein hai ki woh shopping centre kaha hai??

Old man: yeh jo rasta hai na uske aakri mein hi hai..

Zoya: bahut bahut shukriya..

She left from there and went in that road hopping she will find someone who knew about the old building. She came in front of that center and saw that all the shops were new and no old shops were present. She asked few people and they all told they did not know anything. She was completely disheartened.

She then receives call from Dilshad regarding the lunch and left for the restaurant.

In the restaurant

Zoya arrives. She was sad that she did not get any leads as she had hopes this morning. She went and sat near Dilshad and Dilshad observed that she was sad

Dilshad: kya hua beta?? Kuch nehi mila??

Zoya: nehi puphi!! Kuch lead nehi mila.. mein sochke nikli thi ki aaj kuch tho patha chalega!!

Dilshad: kyu itna bura feel kara hi ho??!! Abhi abhi tho shuru ki hai tumne.. sab jawab miljayega.. ab kaha khao.. subah se dhoop mein hai tu..!!

They both finished their lunch and spoke for long time.. Zoya did not feel that her Ammi is away from her as she started finidinh her in Dilshad and Dilshad too looked Zoya like a daughter.

In office

Asad was restless. He wanted to know whether Zoya was safe and she was with his Ammi for lunch. He wanted to find that out. So he called his Ammi..

In restaurant:

Dilshad phone rang and she was surprised to see it was Asad.

Dilshad: ha Asad beta bolo..

Asad: ammi.. woh Actually..

Dilshad (laughing): ya Allah.. tumne phone kiya aur tumhe patha bhi nehi ki kya baath karna hai??!!

Asad did not know how to ask her..

Asad: woh Ammi.. aap kaha hai?? Aapki lunch hogayi??

Dilshad (getting the hint, she thought to tease Asad): ha Asad.. mein restaurant mein hu aur mein lunch karahi hu!!

Asad wanted to know Zoya is with her or not. He know if he ask directly she will tease him..

Asad: thk hai ammi.. Najma hai aapke saath??

Dilshad (controlling her laugh): Najma??!! Kya Asad woh college mein hogi na.. nehi hai woh..

Asad gave up and asked her directly..

Asad: ammi.. Zoya aapke saath lunch karahi hai??

Dilshad: aise poochona!!!! Ha karahi hai.. saath emin hai hum dono..

Asad (angrily): Ammi..!!

Dilshad: woh sab chodo.. tumne call kyun kiya?? Yehi puchne keliye??!!

Asad did not have answer..so blabbered the first thing came in his mind

Asad: nehi ammi.. woh actually.. muje aaj ek meeting hai aur mein thoda late aajauga.. yehi bolna tha!!

Dilshad: tum kaunsa rooz jaldi aate ho?? Waise bhi tumne ysab inform karna kabse shuru kiya??

Asad came to know that his Ammi was teasing him..he got irritated.

Asad: mein bataon tho problem nehi bataon tho problem.. thk hai phone rakhtha hun!!

He ended that call and Dilshad simply chuckled.. she knew that her son was loosing slowly to Zoya..'

Precap:

Zoya saw some person running outside the house in night and she gets her pepper spray to tackle that person..she enters Asad's room following that man..!!
