In the past, there have been numerous instances he has been way less than a gentleman with Zoya...to the extent of slapping her in a fit of unjustified rage. "Unjustified" because it was founded on his own false beliefs and prejudices. He has likewise been unjust and excessively harsh with his mother and father. Yes. He has cause as regards his father, but at the end of the day he failed to see his father was set up by Razia. In sum, I am not sure he is a good man... a man with good intentions maybe, but not necessarily a good man. Asad is a complex confused flawed man with a huge blind spot and a lot of prejudices.

And I understand him being "excessively" harsh with his father. I have no problems with that.

Asad has not done anything major for him to be labelled as a bad man or a bad human being on the whole.

But, I can't accept he is a good man as there are instances where he has not been good or just such as slapping Zoya, or drawing inaccurate conclusions about Rashid. I don't live in black n white...the world has many shades.

Coming to the Zoya-Asad dynamic - he maybe pinning for her, but that does not undo his wrongs against her. Even now they are in the predicament they are because he was oblivious to her warnings against Tanveer. After it was revealed Tanveer was the one with the fake eye, he didn't question her about the chicken blood incident, when Zoya was clearly the target of the chandelier he concluded its was for Tanveer... etc. Similarly, there were instances were he opted to draw the worst possible conclusions about Rasheed and Zoya due to his own prejudices and preconceived beliefs.

The people I would classify as pure and good in the serial so far are Najma, Zoya, and Dilshad... and on the other side, Humeira and Nuzhat. Even Nighat is somewhat flawed in my opinion as she lacks self respect similar to her own mother. Ayaan has also been harsh and hurtful towards others at times. Again, it doesn't make him a bad man...just not in the same category as Zoya, Najma, etc.
