Honestly, Why Why Why?

I've been a regular QH watcher, haven't missed a single episode so far.

But, I just have one big question (well more than one really) which I think is behind all the frustration and anger that we all QH fans have.

Why does a show ALWAYS and ALWAYS need a really NEGATIVE and downright PATHETIC character to move the story forward? Be it Razia, Tanveer, or Haseena.

Are we so HANDICAPPED as creative writers or audiences that a STORY cannot move forward w/o too much negativity? What is that definition of STORY again? In most of these shows, we always see the protagonist suffering in almost 95% of the episodes.

Why do the protagonist in our shows get TRICKED 95% of the times? Yes, we get to see some temporary moments of happiness and relief. But, it fades away in the next episode with the same Villain/Vamp coming up with a new TRICK or introduction of a NEW NEGATIVE character.

Why, Why, and Why?

When will our show makers and the writers BREAK the STEREOTYPES? When? Will it EVER happen?

They say this is what sells. Brings money. Brings TRPs.

So, that makes me wonder, does Indian audience lap up such cheapness and gives bucketful of TRPs (netizens are always minority)? Not only QH, the whole state of telly landscape is depressing. Are people sadistic? Enjoy such stuff 🤢?

And, second thing for writers/creatives themselves:

I want to analyze writer's brains. Not the part that counts money and TRPs, the creative part - you know that actually creates story, characters, breathes life in them. What happens to this part? Nothing - it takes hike, goes on a vacation and again starts writing mitwa moments when required. Really, is it how it happens?

Really, you read my mind.
All this time I knew that if AsYa marriage even happens, it would have to be the typical hate marriage type scenarios with misunderstadnings and blah blah created by a vamp. Because its so typically Indian Telly - they have to stretch the story and delay even a simple confession of feelings as long as they possibly can. 😳 That being said, I am not even that hyper about today's episode although Tanveer totally disgusted me - some sort of misunderstanding was expected. That's the way Indian TV works. But yes I agree that they went about it horribly. My poor Asad.
**Edit
In no way, do I believe that this should have happened or that Indian TV doesn't need to change. They do need to change. Big time!

You are right. Quite honestly, people and viewers like us constitute perhaps less than 1% of the audience. And who cares about this 1% when the other 99% is only interested in watching NEGATIVITY.

There are like 100 different directions that this story can move into without having Razia and Tanveer and also retaining the crux of the story (Zoya and Asad's journey). But, who are we to give ideas? It is the job of the writers and the CV team.

Didn't mean to single out your post, but just wanted to talk about the bold part.

Bold part - that is what the TM is questioning, right? Why does Indian TV work in such pathetic manner? People all over the world watch TVs. Now, I am not saying I have watched programmes all over the world. But, I have watched American shows, British shows, even shows from our subcontinent - Pakistani shows - and I have seen many classic gems being created. Forget about creating a classic, why is Indian TV incapable of giving even decent shows?

Indeed, I had thought QH to be different. They have strong lead characters and strong supporting characters. Every character has a story to tell. They could have easily gone to 250-300 episodes with these characters. And, there is enough of angst, drama to begin with. But, only a cheap vamp sells? That is really depressing...

Hi Noe: you raised an interesting point. Similar to what you said, I've watched shows from quite a few countries too and completely concur with you.

The answer to your question highlighted in RED above is simple: "BECAUSE we LOVE to celebrate MEDIOCRITY".

Hey, I agree with you completely. Just stating that I saw it coming and I find it pathetic that all shows have the samish storyline. I really hope that some day people will start creating shows that are not so typical and maybe try a more REALISTIC approach in their shows. That day I will be truly proud of Indian TV, but currently it sucks that most shows do follow the typical storylines. But like someone else mentioned, it's all about TRPs and the shows show what people want to see. But I still wish that there would be a show to break away from the stereotypes.
