Hello! I got a few replies asking me to post longer parts. See the thing is, I kind of agonize over the next scene I wanna write for hours, and then when I finally have it all in place, I write it immediately and then post it immediately. Which is why you guys get updates so often haha. If you want longer parts, I'll probably take a lot longer to post updates, because I'd be agonizing over more than one scene at a time. Hope you guys understand! I know my updates are short, but at least they're frequent right? (:
Mangalpur Madness: Part 33
Zoya made herself comfortable in Asad's arms as he took leisurely steps to the car. She vaguely recalled that Asad had some important work at the office, which is why they were rushing back. She wondered if he even remembered at this point, but chose not to probe, lest he yell at her again. Despite the apology, she could tell that Asad was still pretty peeved at her for brushing him off so many times. Well, she had a point to make, and she wouldn't stop till she did!
Asad put Zoya down on her feet when they had finally reached the car, and then reached for the car door at the passenger side to open it. He wrapped his fingers around the door handle and pulled, but the door remained shut. A little confused, Asad tried again, before he closed his eyes in frustration as the sequence of events from a few hours ago ran through his mind.
He remembered panicking just as he was about to enter the car when Zoya went missing, and then he had slammed the door shut to run over to her side. His car keys were hanging in the ignition, but he had expected to find her and then get back in the car. But then the confrontation, the kissing, the rain... he'd completely forgotten about the car, and his keys. So now here they were, several hours from then, locked out of the car thanks to the fact that his car had auto-lock.
Asad removed his hand from the car handle and punched the car door instead, letting out a low growl, and making Zoya jump as well. Since he was finally remembering stuff after that haze of romance that he and Zoya had been in, he suddenly recalled that phone call from Prasad. He had work to attend to back in Bhopal, and all this running after Zoya had made him completely forget!
All of it for what anyway, just for Zoya to now refuse to acknowledge the fact that they had come so close to each other in the jungle? For her to try keeping a distance from him? When had she ever tried to keep a distance before this anyway? She had never stopped him whenever he held her in his arms a little longer than he should every single time she had bumped into him. And now that they had finally overcome that hurdle and kissed so passionately, she decided to go back to square one? Heck, it wasn't even square one; at least at square one she didn't have qualms with him touching her. They were at square zero.
"Kya hua Mr Khan? Darwaza kholiye na," Zoya asked, breaking Asad out of his thoughts. He turned to Zoya immediately and grabbed her by her shoulders, pulling her flush against his body. Zoya's immediate reaction was to squirm, and Asad found himself getting even madder at that. He looked her in the eye and glared furiously.
"The door is locked Miss Farooqui, aur yeh sab aapki galti hai! If you hadn't thrown a fit and disappeared into the jungle, we would have never gotten lost in it, the car wouldn't have auto-locked. Now I'm late for that meeting I had to attend, and it's entirely your fault!" Asad yelled cruelly into Zoya's face, before letting her go so suddenly that she stumbled a few steps backwards.
"Instead of wasting more time roaring at me like a lion, why don't you call for help?" Zoya replied calmly, rubbing her upper arms as she tried to soothe the area Asad had gripped so tightly. She wasn't going to let him think that she was scared of him; it would just give him an upper hand. Zoya made sure not to break eye contact with him as she spoke, her chin up and her eyes smouldering. She knew she was doing just fine when Asad stared at her incredulously, before reaching into his pocket and fumbling for his phone.
Asad couldn't even wrap his mind around the audacity of this girl. But he didn't even have any answer to her question either, her reasoning was logical enough. He took out his phone and tried to unlock it, but frowned at being greeted with a blank screen. He punched a few buttons randomly and then swatted the back of the phone against his palm a few times, but still there was nothing. Noticing that the phone was pretty damp, it suddenly struck him that his phone must've died during the downpour just now. He threw the phone on the ground in anger, smashing it into pieces.
"Aapka phone kahan hai?" Asad asked, after much thought. He had intended on yelling at her about his phone as well, but then decided against it when he realized she'd probably just retort with another smart aleck answer. Zoya shrugged and pointed to someplace behind him, and Asad turned his head to see. She was pointing at the car window, where he could clearly see her bag, iPad and phone lying on the seat and ground.
"Damn it Miss Farooqui! Why didn't you at least take your phone with you?? Why are you so irresponsible?!" Asad snapped as he whirled back to face Zoya, unable to control himself this time. He knew in his heart of hearts that he wasn't actually mad about the car or the phone, he was just mad at Zoya in general for being so nonchalant about their whole tryst in the jungle just now, and he simply couldn't find another way to express himself.
"Allah miyan, what's wrong with you Mr Khan?! Let me remind you that it was YOU who pulled me out of the car when I was peacefully taking a nap, leaving me with no time to gather my wits, let alone gather my belongings. Besides, what difference would it have made if I did take my phone? It would've just died in the rain just like yours," Zoya pointed out, crossing her arms as she did. What an exasperating man! Now he was just nit-picking and being stupid. Nothing new anyway, so she needn't be so surprised.
"Oh yes! I'd forgotten all about your little nap. That's exactly why all of this started! Because you were so busy sleeping like a log that you couldn't be bothered to answer me. And then when all that was sorted, you decided to march into the jungle for so long that the rain began to fall, successfully getting us both stuck and lost. This truly is ALL YOUR FAULT!" Asad roared, as he turned back to the car and kicked the tyre in anger. He was surprised to feel Zoya's hand grab his arms mere seconds later, tugging at him to face her.
"Accha? So why don't you also blame all the time we wasted in the jungle before that on me as well? I was kissing you on my own right? You had no part in it at all? And while we're at it, you might as well blame me for the rain! I was the one who called Allah and asked him to send the rain while you were busy kissing the life out of me! It takes two hands to clap Mr Khan!!" Zoya screamed at Asad, grabbing his collar and shaking him with all her might.
Asad covered Zoya's hands with his own, and gently removed them from his collar before turning away from her. He ran a hand through his hair and shut his eyes, his forehead creasing with frustration.
"Mr Khan, you're not mad about the rain, the jungle, your meeting, car or phone, and I know this for a fact. So why don't you behave like a mature adult I know you can be at times, and tell me what's really bugging you," Zoya reasoned, her voice returning back to its normal tone within seconds. She watched as Asad walked away from her, to the driver side of the car. She sighed deeply and limped as she followed behind him. This was going to take some time.
