Who r these people? Are such ppl on this forum? Just like every1 has his own morals, Islam as a religion has some boundaries/limits which muslims are not supposed to cross. If u like it or not, it is there and muslims should follow that, and all muslims are told to keep others informed abt them (Not imposing or forcing others to follow but just to spread the message, there's a big difference). It's up to every individual to accept it or not. Every1 will be judged for his/her own actions at the end of the day. Do u get my point?
And yes, slapping a woman even if she has done something wrong is not a message of Islam, so it should be condemned (which must have been done actually). At least I do.

We are clearly debating two different things.
Judged by who? Other muslims? You know what, I dont care anymore. I am not a muslim, never was, and I never will be thus none of this applies to me. Now I am bored talking about religion. Plus my head hurts...so bye bye. Gonna go watch game of thrones now. My fav show 😊

I agreed with everything except the following:

Also, in all this ppl who are blaming Zoya for wearing a mini skirt is conveniently forgetting that she was raised as an American and not an Indian. Zoya is an American and that too a progressive, educated New Yorker who grew up in a progressive society and not in an orthodox Muslim society.

In America that kind of skirt is not allowed in schools or professional decorum. Working in an Engineering Firm myself, I have yet to see that kind of attire being appropriate. Its called a dress code. Progressive society does not mean prancing about in micro mini skirts in the name of fashion.

And if she is to be considered an Educated New Yorker she might try and fall into a more sophisticated stereotype rather than some dumb bimbo.

People here very openly has condemned wearing a mini skirt in an Islamic society ? So, where was this hue and cry when a woman was slapped by an orthodox Muslim man in the very Islamic society?

So, am I to believe that in Islam, attire of a woman is given more importance than treatment towards woman? So, a man can slap a woman...verbally and physically abuse her but a woman doesn't have the liberty to wear what she wants?

Also, in all this ppl who are blaming Zoya for wearing a mini skirt is conveniently forgetting that she was raised as an American and not an Indian. Zoya is an American and that too a progressive, educated New Yorker who grew up in a progressive society and not in an orthodox Muslim society.

Shouldn't treatment towards women be given more importance than clothes in any given society or culture?

uhh... no.

So what if she grew up in America? L O L.

I was born in England and grew up here also. I do wear skirts that are long and not some trashy mini skirts aright. I do alll the fashion there is but I do it so I do not look trashy. I do not wear skirts that would show my ass when I bent down.

So saying that Zoya grew up in America will allow her to wear mini skirts.. lol... *face palm*

Thats like saying I grew up in the jungle so when I come to india I will act like an animal because I grew up in the jungle.

see how dumb that sounds? LOOOL.

anyways... the slap thing. UH yeah obviously that is not accepted in Islam either and people did get pissed off at that too. And you're acting as if Zoya gets slapped everyday.. lol

Obviously they shouldn't even show the slapping thing.. like thats just unacceptable.

The mini-skirt & the slap are 2 different issues BUT both should have Never happened.

PEOPLE ARE SO ANNOYING NOW LOLLL

THE WHOLE ISSUE WAS.. WHY THE FLUFF WOULD THEY SHOW HER WEARING A MINI SKIRT THAT WILL SHOW HER ASS WHEN SHE BENT DOWN. OK

THE ISSUE IS OF THE MINI SKIRT. NOT ABOUT WHY SHE WEARING A SKIRT.

LIKE SERIOUSLY LOLL RELAX PEOPLE. #annoyed

You are asking for logic? Seriously you're asking for too much on this forum.😆

So many things that Asad does wrong are accepted, but when Zoya does one thing that is seen as wrong/is wrong, it's like world war billion has started.

Most of the things dicussed on this forum seem to have nothing to do with respect, religion, standards, morals, values, etc. It seems more like culture to me, whatever a man does goes, whatever a woman does is wrong.

I saw some people saying how wrong the slap was, but not to the extent they are saying the skirt is wrong. I'm a Muslim and I'd like to point out that in Islam no-one is allowed to hit anyone. And forget religion, isn't it a basic concept of humanity that you shouldn't hit others? Where were all these people who care about respect, when Asad slapped/insulted/accused/verbally abused Zoya? Why didn't they make such a hue and cry then? Why didn't they care about her respect then?

Not many cared.. Why? Because they love Asad? KSG? Men have more right than women? Women don't deserve respect? Or because romance and the love story can make you ignore everything else? I think there are many who fall into a lot of these categories unfortunately. It's sad but it's true, but not many are willing to admit it.

I'll have to disagree here. I had a problem with slap and I have a problem with Zoya's mini-skirt. Yes she can wear whatever she wants but I would've preferred if skirt was a bit longer. I have a problem with length of the skirt. You are right. Asad has no right on what she should wear and what she should not. She doesn't have to abide by his rules but the thing is she's living in HIS house. But anyways, that's another matter which I don't wanna get into. Living in Canada, I still haven't seen anyone calling this kinda short dress appropriate. Sure girls probably wear it but it's not appropriate. Even in our school, we are not allowed to wear such skirts simply because they are too short and inappropriate. And if they try to show tomorrow, that her wearing a skirt is okay because "tehzeeb" is not in clothes but heart, I'm sorry but I won't buy it. In my opinion, adult women should not wear such short skirts. It's not appropriate. If they wanted to show this 'tehzeeb' drama, then they could have shown it by making her a wear a bit longer skirt maybe till mid-thighs? I would have been completely okay with that.

Coming to slap, that was the time I became active in the forum and I saw most of the people not agreeing with slap. Sure some people must have justified where Asad was coming from but most of the people said slap was going too far. I was strongly against the slap and I still am. Over the time, I kinda came to terms with it and understood where he was coming from but I still can't digest that slap.

I, personally, don't like pulling religion card simply because it can hurt many. & I agree people should stop bringing religion in when convenient.

P.S.: I saw SBB segments, I was happy to see that Zoe didn't go in front of Maulvi sahib in that skirt and I hope when Asad yells she tells him the reason why she wore it and I hope Gul doesn't try to tell us it's completely okay to wear that mini-skirt. That's something I'll have a problem with. Other than that I'm glad Zoe will answer back and remind him when was the last time, he did something she liked. It's high time he realizes everything doesn't run his way. Baki, I'm loving Asad's character growth:)

Hey. I have a problem with skirt's length. And trust me I was strongly against Asad slapping Zoya and I expressed it in many posts too. I have been against Asad insulting Zoya too and i have made harsh posts on him too. And just to let you know Zoya is my favorite character. Asad doesn't even come close except now with his character growth he's coming up on my list. And I know how to differentiate between character and an actor.

👍🏼
I have no issues with women wearing skirts. I wear them to work very regularly. But two things are very important, how appropriate it is and comfort. Forget skirts, any dress one wears for that matter.
I knew religion would be brought up the moment I saw Zoya's picture in that skirt. It was very short. But do people wear them, yes they do. Do Muslim girls wear them? I do not know and it does not matter. However, no one would wear something that inappropriate when older people are at home and Zoya realized it when the maulvi came in. Shorts are a different issue because visibility is restricted. I am sure there is a background to the scene and a purpose. Asad will learn that clothes do not make the person and Zoya will learn that wearing modern clothes does not make you very liberal.
The slap was unpardonable. And the same people who wrote about the skirt said Tanveer needs to be slapped. Yes, she is a villain but she is also a pregnant woman. I wonder what that says about their religious inclinations.
If the MODs had been around, the very fanatical and rude TM would have had her topic closed. Why does she think that skin show is a sin and watching a show that crosses certain boundaries and gives rise to impure thoughts is not is beyond my thinking!

You can't pick and choose religion to suit your convenience.

Like you I have to question the thinking of these people - hitting a woman, degrading her, hugging your best friend so openly (read Asad and tanveer) is all ok but god forbid Zoya wears a mini skirt.

thanks Pri ! I am really worried of the fact the way everyone is bringing religion into it...the point here is about a woman's right and about the decisions she makes...I am not going to comment on the skirt or the length of the skirt...honestly it's an individual preference and as an adult
individual one should have the option to choose...I am appalled at the fact that ppl are much more keen to talk about what a woman is allowed to wear instead of treatment of women.

And about the question you raised. I believe no matter which religion you belong to it does not give you a right to judge or treat a person wrongly based on the clothes they wear or anything. Be the person a man or woman.
And honestly I lost hope with the people on this forum when so many of them justified the slap. It was wrong it, it still is wrong and Zoya wearing a skirt its her life her choice.

exactly...I just wanted to emphasize that she grew up in NewYork to give an example that it actually depends on the society she grew up in...saying that there are numerous exceptions of orthodox families in western world too.
