You can't pick and choose religion to suit your convenience.

Like you I have to question the thinking of these people - hitting a woman, degrading her, hugging your best friend so openly (read Asad and tanveer) is all ok but god forbid Zoya wears a mini skirt.

Agree with you ! I am completely appalled by some of the posts and general thought process of some of the people on this forum ,and I am getting irritated with the fact that people use the religion card here unnecessarily!

Hi guys

Excellent topic.

We have to realise that Qubool hai is a television series and not a platform used to define or explain Islamic beliefs.

Islam does NOT allow the verbal (insult her in public); physical (slap her); emotional abuse. It's a sin to degrade or abuse women in any way. We have to be treated with respect and dignity at all times.

Qubool hai is far from an approved muslim society and Mr Asad Ahmed Khan does not describe a tradional muslim man. He is a man of double standards.

There is a dress code that muslims have to abide by and a mini-skirt is not part of it. This is irrespective of which part of the world you are living in. I'm proud to say that women in Mumbai are just as progressive and educated as the women in New York.

There are dress codes for muslim men as well.

We must release that not all the actions of people define the religion they follow. This applies to Islam; Christianity; Hinduism and Buddhism etc.

I don't know what happened in this forum.. But I agree with you ..

All I can tell you as a Muslim my self that yes wearing short clothes is not allowed , but also slapping, hurting others is very wrong, touching, dancing with a stranger is too not allowed .. etc

I watch QH and I like it though I can see many violation of Islamic rules in every episodes, from all the characters..
A mini skirt is actually nothing comparing to the other thing..
I watch this serial to entertain me, and Actually I like it .. and I wont demand them to apply Islamic rules on it .. We all here are sane , we know what is right and wrong according to our culture, beliefs, and religions.

If wearing short skirt is a shame and violating the Islamic rules, what about slapping , insulting others? what about dancing and touching between AsYa? what about Lying, what about pre-judging? what about name calling? what about hugging? what about ...etc ..
I'm sure that those who are saying that mini skirt is not allowed , are the same who drooled over AsYa rain dance, the same who drooled over the almost kiss .. and this is really hypocrisy..

It's ridiculous how some people are more concerned about appearance more than the essence, though Islam it self give much more importance to the essence.

QH is show of some Muslim Families, Not a Ideal, perfect religious Muslims.
it's just took some of the Muslims background.
So please spare religions from a TV show arguments !..

I just wanted to point out some things that I've been reading:

Firstly, I know some people have said how there is a 'dress code' in Islam. Yes, this is true, but some people take this to an extreme. The Islamic 'dress code' calls for modest clothing. It isn't limited to just shalwar kameez, or an abaya, etc. the way Zoya's character has been dressing so far is acceptable because she wasn't revealing her body. Wearing a mini skirt though, does cross limits. Granted there is nothing wrong with wearing one and people can wear whatever they want, but if your religion emphasizes a modest dress code, then you should respect that. I understand that there are a lot of Muslims worldwide that wear mini skirts, but I personally don't agree with that.

Secondly, I am also a Muslim girl and ironically, I was born and raised in New York City. My parents were liberal in raising me but they did emphasize dressing appropriately. I go by latest fashions and trends but i make sure that I don't expose myself. I love wearing skirts and dresses, but long ones: maxi dresses and maxi skirts are my all time favorite things to wear. You can keep following your country's fashion trends, look super nice and still be dressed modestly - that's what Islam calls for.

Thirdly, Asad's behavior has been really annoying, especially his slap. I'm surprised more people didn't call him out on it because showing abusive relationships on television is just wrong. It also gives the impression that Muslim men are allowed to slap women - which isn't true. Asad and Zoya weren't even married when Asad's slapped her (not to say that it's okay to beat each other up once you're married) but they went even related! If you think about it, Zoya was just a random family friend who was staying at his house and he went ahead and slapped her. That's not just against Islam, that's against the law.

Gul had said in an interview a while back that this show was to remove misconceptions about Islam through her show. She has done that to an extent where she shows that a Muslim family can be liberal but she is also starting to show things such as Muslims girls wearing mini skirts and Muslim guys hitting girls and getting away with it, which is causing misconceptions.

Okayyy not again !!
Why do you speak about Islam here please !!!! Asad mad a mistake in slapping Zoya he regreted it later !!! nd u must know the circomstances when this incident happend. Asad is not a man who hit every women in his way so please dont generalized his mistake.

And for Zoya its not about the SKIRT its about the SIZE of this skirt it was too too short for wearing it in Khan mansion !!!
Even if we rise in western country as a muslim girls i think we know our limits.

And now the skirt topic is close because we know the real reasons for what Zoya wear it.

Sorry to say but your mind is very limited for meaning tht muslims can bear a man who hit a woman but not a woman who wear what she want. 😲

Please STOP negativ post. its really not needed in this forum right now.

I couldn't have said it better myself!!

This show is not portraying ideal Muslim families. I mean forget Asad and Zoya...look at the Razia and Badi Bi. It's better if we don't not look to fictional TV shows to represent any religion.

My issue with the importance clothing is given on this show is that it is used to show how progressive Zoya is, however one's clothing is not and should not be what decides how progressive you are. One can very easily follow the guidelines Islam or any religion for that matter has given us and still be a progressive forward thinking woman/man. If Zoya was truly progressive she would have told Asad to STFU and left that house a long time ago.

People here very openly has condemned wearing a mini skirt in an Islamic society ? So, where was this hue and cry when a woman was slapped by an orthodox Muslim man in the very Islamic society?

So, am I to believe that in Islam, attire of a woman is given more importance than treatment towards woman? So, a man can slap a woman...verbally and physically abuse her but a woman doesn't have the liberty to wear what she wants?

Also, in all this ppl who are blaming Zoya for wearing a mini skirt is conveniently forgetting that she was raised as an American and not an Indian. Zoya is an American and that too a progressive, educated New Yorker who grew up in a progressive society and not in an orthodox Muslim society.

Shouldn't treatment towards women be given more importance than clothes in any given society or culture?

Just 1 question, did any1 I mean any1 in this forum write that slap was a good thing or did not curse Asad for that act?
Stupid emotional post. Plz think before posting anything
