AsYa SS: Asad Ahmed Khan's Bachelor Party

Chapter 3

Asad continued to stare at Zoya admiringly as she was laughing. She looked so beautiful and innocent when she was so carefree and happy that he wondered if he had been blind all this time not to notice. Just then he was brought out of his thoughts as Ayaan snapped his fingers in front of his face with a huge grin on his face. He felt embarrassed at being caught but was quick to regain his composure. Luckily Zoya had not noticed anything.

"Bhaijaan if you don't have any problem, can I please borrow my bhabi for some time. There are some guests who would like to meet her," Ayaan asked purposely putting the emphasis on the word bhabi making Asad feel further embarrassed.

Zoya on the other hand was oblivious and went immediately on her defensive mode.

"Raabart, why are you asking him? Mr. Khan's not my boss! Let's go," Zoya replied and stood up.

"No, Ms. Farooqui. We are going home right now!" Asad announced.

"Home? Just because YOU are already done enjoying yourself, doesn't mean I also want to go home. I didn't come all the way here for nothing!"

"Ms. Farooqui!" Asad crossed his arms against his chest impatiently.

"Mr. Khan!" Zoya imitated his arm movement and even added an eye-roll.

"Zoya!"

"Asad!" Zoya blurted without thinking.

Asad's face muscles began to twitch as he tried to contain a smile after hearing his name from her mouth. It sounded so good when she said it especially when she was using that assertive tone.

"I meant Mr. Khan!" Zoya quickly added and felt her face getting a little warm. If Mr. Khan was not standing in front of her, she would have gone to the nearest wall and banged her head against it for sure. Not for blurting out his name but because of the fact that she could not understand why saying a simple name could cause butterflies to start fluttering in her stomach.

"Ya Allah, what's wrong with me?" Zoya muttered under her breath, making Asad smirk.

"Look, Mr. Khan. I'm not going anywhere and that's final!"

Before Asad could open his mouth to argue again, Ayaan interrupted. He had momentarily disappeared during their quarrel and returned with quite a handsome-looking hunk.

"Mona, this is Imran. Imran, this is Zoya Farooqui, bhaijaan's wife-to-be," Ayaan introduced the two of them.

"As-Salamu Alaykum," Zoya said happily flashing her dimples.

Imran smiled back and held his hand out at the same time. To his disappointment, instead of the hand of the gohri mehm in front of him, his hand was shook by Asad, who held it rather tightly.

"Wa laikum As Salaam," Imran said sounding rather put-off.

The incident pretty much repeated itself three of four more times as Zoya was introduced to some of Asad's work associates or family friends. It was as if Asad's senses were on alert mode and he seemed more like a lion protecting his lair than a soon-to-be groom. He allowed Zoya to talk to the men he knew were polite and trustworthy, but he was only too cautious around others.

"Mr. Khan! It's your bachelor party. Why are you so tensed up?" Zoya couldn't help asking after noticing his rather stiff behavior for the past fifteen minutes.

"Exactly, it's my bachelor party. Then why did you have to come here!?" Asad demanded, making Zoya's jaw drop.

"Mr. Khan! You. Are. So. Rude." Zoya answered putting emphasis on every word.

"And you know what? You aren't getting married to yourself tomorrow, as much as you would love that, as you are convinced that you are God's greatest gift to mankind," Zoya said rolling her eyes, "So let me enjoy my last night of freedom too!" She then stomped away before Asad could reply.

Asad massaged his forehead for the umpteenth time cursing himself for agreeing to this Bachelor Party idea.

***

"Mona, chill out. Why are you letting Bhaijaan spoil your mood? You know how he is," Ayaan tried convincing a fuming Zoya. It was a futile attempt.

"That's no excuse Raabart! One minute everything's fine and the next minute he starts acting like I'm the world's biggest burden for him or something!"

"You know that's not true! You could never be a burden for Bhaijaan so please calm down. Now just stay here, I'll get you something to drink," Ayaan said patting Zoya's head.

He then went to the bar counter and had barely asked for an orange juice when he at the same time heard the voice of his very annoying cousin Ashfaq. He was yelling out his name and asking for another orange juice with Vodka.

"Ayaan miyan, bring it fast and hey don't forget to make it strong!" Ashfaq called out to Ayaan who was getting annoyed with his drunk cousin's demands. The bar-tender looked at Ayaan and Ayaan nodded his head to confirm the second order.

His plan was turning into a disaster. Instead of confessing his feelings to Zoya, his dhakan of a Bhaijaan was spoiling things further. Ya Allah! Kya karoon mai inn dono ka? Ayaan thought with an exasperated sigh.

"Sir, your drinks."

Ayaan thanked him, taking the two glasses from the counter.

If he really wanted his Bhaijaan to confess his feelings, he needed to come up with something better. A master plan! But what? Ayaan racked his brain for an idea and simultaneously walked towards Ashfaq and then Zoya, handing them their drinks.

Zoya took a sip and nearly spluttered as she felt a burning sensation in her throat.

"Raabart, is this some new flavour of juice? It tastes a little weird," Zoya asked confusedly.

"Yes, Mona. This place is pretty famous for the distinct taste of its drinks," Ayaan replied absent-mindedly.

"Okay," Zoya shrugged her shoulders and started gulping down the cold glass of juice as she realized how thirsty she really was. Plus, after a while, the orange juice didn't taste so bad. In fact, as she drank more and more, she felt a warm fuzzy feeling travelling up her body. Her head had not felt so light-headed in ages!

"There you guys are!" Asad sighed in relief as he finally found Zoya and Ayaan. Zoya also spotted him and he prepared himself for the cold shoulder or lots of shouting.

"Mr. Khan!" Zoya clapped her hands together excitedly as soon and she saw him and rested her head on them while giving Asad her brightest smile.

To say he was taken aback would be an understatement.

"Uhh...hi Ms. Farooqui?" He couldn't help sounding a little nervous as she continued to ogle at him until she finally shifted her glance to Ayaan.

"Raabart! Can you bring me some more juice? It was so YUM-MY! I want more but my glass is empty." Zoya demonstrated by flipping the glass upside down and pointing at it, "See?"

Ayaan just stared at her.

"Ms. Farooqui, I think he can tell. He's not slow like you. And, why are you acting so weird? Oh, I'm sorry, correction - Why are you acting WEIRD-ER?" Asad finally asked.

"I'm acting weird? Have you ever seen yourself, Mr. Wierdo Ahmed Khan? Ms. Farooqui, don't wear jeans, only bad girls dress like that! Ms. Farooqui don't laugh so loud, my walls have very sensitive ears! Ms. Farooqui don't talk while eating, your food looks horrible in your mouth! Ms. Farooqui don't breath too much, too much carbon dioxide in the air causes Global Warming! Uffo, Mr. Khan! Ab bache ki jaan leyo gaye kya?" Zoya said with her dramatic hand motions. Aah! It felt so good not having to keep anything inside her head. She didn't know why, but today she just felt like speaking her mind and whatever gibberish came in it!

Asad and Ayaan just continued to gawk at her like she had grown two heads.

"What nonsense!" Asad finally opened his mouth.

Just then the three of them were interrupted by Ashfaq.

"What is this Ayaan miyan? I didn't ask for just orange juice. I told you to make my drink strong!" Ashfaq said annoyedly pointing at his orange juice.

Ayaan looked back and forth from Zoya to Ashfaq, then back to Zoya. Realization dawned on him.

"Oii Teri!" He slapped his hand across his mouth and finally looked at his elder bro.

"AYAAN AHMED KHAN! You did not just serve alcohol to my to-be-wife!"

Ayaan gulped.

"Galti ho gayi bhaijaan! I'm sorry," Ayaan said apologetically.

Asad felt like his head was going to burst any second. Note to self: never ever ever spend time with both Zoya and Ayaan together. Both species must be handled with caution and one at a time.

He had barely taken a few deep breaths to relax himself when he realized that Zoya was no longer beside him.

"Ms. Farooqui!" He called out worriedly until he finally spotted her chasing Ashfaq.

"Dekhiye, mujhe yehi juice chahiye. Abhi!" Zoya yelled while lunging for Ashfaq's glass.

"Yeh aap kya kar rahi hai? Yeh mera glass hai!" Ashfaq argued.

Asad turned to Ayaan and glared.

"Yeah, I'll just go get her," Ayaan stammered and started walking towards Zoya with Asad right behind him.

"Mona, what are you doing? Let go of his collar! I'll get you another juice," Ayaan said, finally managing to pull Zoya away from a thankful Ashfaq.

"Mona, what were you doing? Stop acting so junglee," Ayaan reprimanded. Zoya's mouth fell open.

"You called ME junglee? Have you ever seen yourself in the mirror? Your hair looks like all the birds made a nest in it. Did Mr. Khan not force you to get a haircut since the past ten years!?" Zoya replied angrily.

"Mona, you're making fun of my hair!? The thick curly locks that girls die over? At least my hair isn't boring like yours!" Ayaan replied dramatically. He knew Zoya was drunk but still, NO ONE insulted the hair!

"Mr. Khan, did you hear what he said! Tell him! Tell him how beautiful my hair is!" Zoya said while flipping her hair in Asad's face.

"Why will he take your side? He's my brother and he loves me, so obviously he will take MY side," Ayaan replied.

"Well, I don't know why he loves YOU so much!" Zoya said making a face.

"Well, I do know now why it bothers you so much! You are just jealous!" Ayaan replied.

"Why would I be jealous? I am getting married to him, so HAHA!" Zoya said while grabbing Asad's arm.

"So, he's still my brother!" Ayaan pulled Asad's other arm.

"I'm going to be his wife you mouse!"

"I was his brother first you witch!"

"SHUT UP both of you!" Asad yelled, finally losing his patience, and making the two of them nearly jump and let go of him.

Zoya put on a very serious face and put her finger on her lip to indicate she was silent.

"Ayaan, it's getting very late. I think you should go home now."

Ayaan nodded his head and then apologized, "I'm sorry for everything bhaijaan."

Asad sighed then finally said, "It's okay."

"Thank you Bhaijaan!" Ayaan jumped on him to give him a hug and Asad smiled in spite of himself.

Ayaan finally broke away from Asad and turned to say bye to Zoya but then thought against it as she made a face and stuck her tongue out at him.

"Good luck, bhaijaan!" Ayaan patted Asad on his shoulder one last time before finally leaving.

Asad finally turned to Zoya who had been staring at Asad and Ayaan very thoughtfully and was now too lost in her thoughts as she watched Ayaan leaving. She was looking so cute however that even Asad had a hard time not smiling.

"Ms. Farooqui, what are you thinking?" Asad couldn't help feeling a little curious.

"Mr. Khan I was thinking...Ayaan's right. I am actually jealous of him, because you never hug ME like that!" Zoya blurted out.

"What?" Asad asked surprised. The Vodka was really getting to her head.

"What what!? You know, Mr. Khan, if it wasn't me but Tannu who said the same thing, you would have hugged her by now!" Zoya replied angrily.

"Ms. Farooqui, why are you bringing Tannu into this?" Asad asked in a stern voice though he was feeling thoroughly amused by her jealousy.

"Well, what did I say wrong? You are always hugging her Mr. Khan! Mujhe toh kabhie aise hug nahi kiya!" Zoya said with a sad pout on her face.

This time Asad couldn't help but smile at her innocence and sad puppy-dog look. He also then remembered the promise that he had made to himself and his ammi. He knew he had to confess his love for Zoya before the nikah and that he would not get a better chance than this. He cleared his throat.

"Ms. Farooqui ...Zoya, I need to tell you something-" Asad started to say but then Zoya interrupted.

"OMG Mr. Khan, it's my favourite song! I want to dance!" Zoya said excitedly and started to rush to the dance floor as her favourite number Badtameez Dil started blaring from the speakers. But before she had gotten very far, Asad had grabbed her by the arm. He realized that he would have to take her out of the nightclub if he wanted to tell her anything.

"No Zoya, we are leaving this place. Right now," Asad said adamantly.

"But, Mr. Khan I want to dance!" Zoya demanded.

"Ms. Farooqui-"

"Okay fine! But for that you have to make me a few promises. Do you agree?" Zoya asked.

"What promises? ' Okay fine. I agree," Asad finally gave in as he knew how stubborn she could be. Zoya's face lit up with excitement and he already started to regret his decision.

"Promise #1: You will not hold Tanveer's hand for more than five seconds!" Zoya announced happily.

Of all the things he had expected, this was not on the list. Asad scratched his forehead with his finger, not knowing whether to laugh out loud or hug her right then and there for her cuteness.

Zoya held out her hand.

"Promise, Mr. Khan?" Zoya asked in a stern voice and held out her hand.

"Promise, Zoya!" Asad finally said with a wide smile and held her hand, not letting it go again.

"Good! Now next one ...From today on, you will only eat bread jam if I made it. Not if it's made by Tanveer!"

Asad chuckled, "I don't think I have to worry about that while you're there to gobble up my plate when I'm not looking."

"Very funny, Mr. Khan. Go on and promise to me now," Zoya demanded childishly.

Asad raised her hand closer to his face.

"I promise, Zoya," he finally said before placing a light kiss on her hand. He then looked up at her face which was beaming with joy. As she turned to face him completely, he took her other hand in his hand too.

"Lastly, now promise Mr. Khan that you will only ever hug Tanveer, if I, Zoya Farooqui, gives you the permission to do so," Zoya said with a soft smile.

Asad let go of her hands and instead put his arm around her waist and pulled her in. Zoya gasped as her body collided into his. Their faces were very close to each other and Zoya could feel his intense gaze burning her face and she was unable to meet to meet his eyes.

"And what if I refuse, Zoya?" Asad said in a husky voice that made Zoya's heart leap.

She shut her eyes for a few seconds before finally looking up to meet his eyes, a teasing smile on her face.

"You can't. Kyunki aap sirf mere ho...Asad."

Okay so how was it? Good, bad, satisfactory? 🤔 I was a little doubtful with this chapter so do let me know how you found it. 😊 Also, I wanted to remind you guys so it doesn't come as a shock later that this SS is literally a SHORT story so it is going to end it 2/3 more chapters. It is supposed to be about the bachelor party so I don't want to stretch it too much and get irrelevant! 😊 Well, I hope you guys did enjoy it so far and it has definitely convinced me to look for more ideas to write about! 😉
