Chapter 6: Past meets the Future

Life is really strange. It has its own twisted ways of making us live. First it will bring the color of love in our lives only to be faded away gradually. When we start cope up with the heartbreak, it again brings us hope, a hope to love and a hope to live. Will it be ever tired of complicating our lives? Guess not, because complication is another name for life'

Zoya could see her friends sitting around the bonfire which they have set up in the middle of their tents. She looked up at the sky only to find stars twinkling upon her.

"Agreeing to this trip isn't that bad after all'"

Thinking this, she turned her gaze towards her friends. She saw Kevin who was staring into the fire. Kate was sitting near him as if she had been glued to him. This sight made her heart wrench again. How she wish she could reel back the time' this time not to have Kevin back, but to amend her mistake of falling in love with him'

Then her eyes travelled further only to be locked with a pair of hazel eyes. Asad' he was sitting near the fire looking like Adonis himself' if she was here, then it was only because of him... if she could hold her head high in spite of the pain in her heart, then it was only because of him' she knew, she could rely on him for anything. That was the bond she shared with Asad. She walked towards the bonfire and sat next to Asad. He gave her his dimpled smile causing her heart warm up. He took her hand in his and started caressing it with his thump. She flashed a genuine smile and leaned to his shoulder. Najma noticed this and smiled inwardly. That perfect moment was broken by Aditya as he urged everyone to dance as the atmosphere was apt for that. As everyone started dancing to the song played by Aditya, Zoya tried to drag Asad to dance but failed in that. Stomping her feet she marched to join others leaving a smirking Asad behind. She did look soo cute when she was angry.

His eyes captured her each and every movement. He realized that she was a gracious dancer as her body moved so perfect as per the rhythm. She was looking like a kid who is doing her most favourite thing. His eyebrows scrunched in confusion as he saw her stop dancing abruptly. By now, the songs had been changed to a slow romantic number. He followed her eyes to know the reason for the abrupt change in her. He sighed as he understood the reason. A little away from her there stood Kevin and Kate, his arms around her waist and her arms in his shoulder. Both were swaying to the music. Asad could see the occasional glances Kevin giving to Zoya. Asad looked at Zoya whose face looked pain stricken. He could see tears threatening to fall out from her eyes. By now, everybody has stopped dancing and was looking at the scene in front of them. Najma felt to beat the living daylight out of Kevin as she understood that he was doing it purposefully. She went to Zoya who was standing there and looking at the duo dancing. She slowly touched her shoulder. Zoya looked at Najma, her eyes full of pain. She was about to run away when she felt a tug in her hand. She looked behind only to find Asad.

Rage built up in Asad's body as he saw the tears in Zoya's eyes. He really wanted to tear Kevin apart for pulling out that little stunt in front of Zoya. He closed her eyes and made his hand into a fist so as to control his angers. When he opened his eyes he could see Najma standing close to Zoya trying to console her and from the look on Zoya's face, he knew she was gonna run away. Determined, he walked towards her and held her hand before she got the chance to run away. She looked at him perplexed. He slowly raised his hands to wipe her tears away. She closed her eyes as she felt his touch. She nuzzled her face close to his touch as his hands rested on her cheek. With the other free hand he pulled her towards him as their flush touched. She jerked open her eyes at the sudden movement. She found his arm around her waist and his other arm gripped her hand as if not to let go. She looked at him with confusion. He leaned forward to whisper in her ear,

"Dance with me'"

With that he started swaying with her to the music. As they started dancing rain started dripping making Kevin and Kate happy as Zoya and Asad didn't get a chance to dance. But their happiness was short-lived.

As everybody ran towards their tent to avoid drenching in rain Zoya and Asad stood there only. Zoya open her arms to embrace the rain droplets. She let go of all her worries as he felt the droplets kissing her. She was giggling like a kid. For a moment she forgot that Asad was there with her. A warm touch in her hand broke her trance. Asad had captured her outstretched hands in his as he stood behind her back. A romantic song started playing in the background which Zoya love to the core. If it was any other day she would have listen it carefully, but that moment her mind was not working properly as she stood there with Asad hand in hand in the famous titanic position.

On the other hand Asad was in same situation as hers. He didn't know what had overcome in him. As he watched her playing in rain his heart skipped a beat. All the pent up emotions surfaced in his heart as his feet moved towards her in its own accord. Slowly he captured her outstretched hands in his. He could feel her shudder. He noticed how her small palms fit perfectly in his big ones. As he stood closer to her a romantic song played in the background.

He turned her towards him. She looked at him with her big doe eyes as Asad started singing the song while the song played in the background.

He pulled her closer as her face touched his heart. He slowly parted himself away from her and cupped her face.

Zoya's friends watched the scene unfold in front of them with their eyes wide open. Najma was smiling as she was the one who changed the music. She knew Asad and Zoya were perfect for each other, they just needed the push. She also knew that this moment won't last forever as once they snapped out of the trance, they will go back to 'we-are-just-friends' mode, at least Zoya. Najma had seen Asad's eyes which were always fixed on Zoya. Najma was never been in love but she could easily understand that Asad loved her best friend a lot. And today he proved her to be right. Najma was happy for both of them. She mentally thanked Kevin for making her suspicions correct.

While others were rejoicing for Zoya, Kevin and Kate stood there seething in anger. Kevin was angry to see the closeness between Asad and Zoya. He was frustrated as his plan backfired. Kate on the other hand was as usual in jealous mode. She was irked by the attention Zoya is getting from everyone, from her friends, from Asad and even from her fianc. The way Kevin looks at Zoya when she is around had probed certain doubts in her mind. She strongly doubted that there was a past between Kevin and Zoya. Asad was always her favorite hero. It was irking her to the core knowing that Zoya is the heroine in Asad's life. She wanted to strangle Zoya for taking all men's attention.

As everyone contemplated their feelings, Asad and Zoya still stood under the rain getting lost in the unnamed emotions between them. That moment was surreal for them. What if their mind doesn't know the feelings they shared, their hearts definitely knew it'
