okay so ive been holding back from posting for a while.. ive been noticing what the happenings were but didn't wanna post unless absolutely necessary.. hence im here đ
So basically, I personally understand and feel members have every right to voice an opinion on anything as long as its constructive and logical. Therefore, I do not have an issue with this this thread. I think it's okay if you guys want to post any contentions or criticism's you all may have regarding the handling of the forum. đł
Before commenting on the points you have raised, I would like to state that I know the development team of this forum very well. Gunia, Jyoti, and Pooja are very responsible, understanding, timely, efficient, respecting, considerate, and helpful DT members. I personally have worked with Gun and Jyo and I can trust them more than I trust myself with handling of forums. Ive also seen Pooja's work and she too is a very good DT member. On a personal level I know Jyo/Gun, getting to know Pooja and they are three of the nicest individuals i've ever met on IF.
I wanted to make that clear so that when I am posting these comments, you can understand from what Professional and Personal perspectives I am posting. đł
Now getting to the points you have raised:
1. I've strict problems regarding the sticky threads.Very often,I find irrelevant threads as stickies and the important and required ones missing from the list.For instance the sticky thread for Voting in ITA awards was removed.
Sticky threads are always difficult to manage for any Development team member because as DT we are constantly put in a fix as to what to sticky and what not to. The front page of all forums, as a guideline we all follow, requires us to allow for at least 4-5 regular topics to show and up to 6-8 stickies to show. Every week we have to consider as DT to allow a sticky (+ or - 2) for sonyfan's videos, 1 sticky for WU's, 1 for GOTW, and or DOTW. This allows a space of 2-3 other stickies.
In this forum, DOTW/GOTW are already moved to the Important Links thread.. sometimes is space allows it QH DT tries their best to allow for them to show up.. but you have to consider that they are trying their best to allow for all important threads to be shown as stickys. If this werent true.. the DOTW/GOTW's for this forum would remain in the front and not moved to Important links as often times it is. đł
Knowing DT only has a leeway of 2-4 stickies, there is only so much Gun, Jyo, and Pooja can sticky, They try their level best to give everyone's requests/every necessary post a deserved sticky spot. if they are unable to they kept a sticky of important links to allow members an easy access to important posts.
I just think there is only so much they can do to maintain sticky's. They are also bombarded with pm's with request to sticky certain topics so it's difficult for them to give everyone a fair spot.. hence they do their best in distinguishing what posts should remained stickies and which ones shouldnt. As it is I also do not think it is much of a hassle to click Important Links sticky, search and find an important voting thread or something other, either. đł
2. Why can't we have a combined help desk for religious issues and other concerns in general.It's occupying unnecessary space in the sticky list thread.
Help Desk is important for DT to keep distinguishable in the announcements section as often times there are members who are not actively apart of the forum or are just starting to watch the show. They have questions and queries and hence DT must allow for the Help Desk to be easy to access. Combining it with Religious Issues is from a members perspective (Im saying this from my opinion as a member) not a good idea. I feel like Religious Issues and a Help Desk are completely separate issues/topics. From a DT perspective we need to allow for the Help Desk to be simply questions and answers thread. A thread on religious issues should remain on its own so that healthy discussions on religion can be held there. Discussions thread vs a thread for Q and A only are two separate things on its own. Therefore combining them seems unnecessary.
3. Again another problem with the sticky thread is that we can have a single video thread where Sonyfan can update daily by editing the title and the content instead of making 2-3 threads for videos.
This is a contention I personally as DT have dealt with in the forums I have handled. This decision is between sonyfan and Gun/Jyo/Pooja. However, I do not disagree that it would be useful combining sonyfan's video threads. I think it is a good idea and so I will suggest to gun and jyo about that. The rest is up to them. I know I personally have done that at my previous forums and I think it worked out well. It saved sticky space as well. So I agree. đł
4. The MOTW,GOTW,other activities and competitions are needed to be taken care of properly.I find DOTW,etc missing here time and again.Dts should make a proper thread where the list of volunteers with the allotted days are mentioned and that thread should remain sticky as much longer as possible.Reminders are definitely needed for such activities which lag behind in this forum.
The DT puts out a volunteers list every month or two months depending on how they run the volunteers schedule. Members volunteer and they put out whatever they signed up for themselves. The DT's only job on that front is reminding the members who signed up that they need to post GOTW/DOTW for the weekly timeslot they picked. From that the sole responsibility of the GOTW/DOTW is of the members who signed up. The DT will sticky the topics if the sticky space allows it. If not, the DOTW and GOTW links are most likely being posted in the Important Links sticky. I again so no problem in this. If its a matter of forum activity then participation is on all of the forum members. The DT cannot force members to participate. If its a matter of stickying the topics so that members can easily see them and participate, then again if the sticky space allows it the DT does its best to make sure this happens. If not, then I dont think its a big deal if the links are listed int eh Important Topic sticky for members to access. Also, if members keep the threads active enough then the GOTW/DOTW threads themselves will remain floating in the first few pages. đł
5. People handling the NL are just 3.Out of these 3 two are inactive due to some personal reasons and will be back soon.I feel that mods should ask the members to volunteer and help tulipdaisy in handling the NL. NL is too large and I think we are overburdening Tulip.she already gives the WU almost daily and then handling the NL must be really difficult for her.I may myself volunteer to help if needed. I want the mods to think about it.
The NL is again like the DOTW/GOTW issue. DT only puts out or gives permission for another member to put out a volunteers list. From there on the only responsibility on the DT's part is to sticky the NL thread. The creation of it and its responsibility is soley of the members who have signed up to work on it. If you feel that one member is handling the NL responsibility to much and is being burdened, you should contact that member. The DT has nothing to do with the handlings of this issue.
6. Regarding the latest video issue,I ask the DTs to have another discussion over it with the admins and come back with a proper explanation
I dont want to comment to much on this. As a member i agree with all of you. However, as a DT i do not. Therefore : moral dilemma đł I will leave this to the officials.
7. We can have some interesting activities like Members choice favorite member of the month where the members can themselves nominate each other and then people getting the maximum votes may be short listed for the voting round.
Any suggestions for contests and what not by members should be pmed to the DT of this forum. Dt is not responsible or rather, they are not required (it isnt apart of their job decription) to create contests for the forum. Usually the members of the forum should come up with them if they feel they want to take up the project, then request DT for permission and if give that "go ahead" the members take up the full responsibility of contests and what not. The reason this is usually done is so that members can control their own contests/games/. They can test their creativity, have fun, and not rely on DT create things. This also allows members to become involved and express their ideas. If DT controlled contests then sometimes members dont like them or whatever and dont partake. I personally as a member think its a better idea for members to come up with contest ideas to feel a part of the forum and then with permission go ahead and carry them out through the forum.
DT can depending on who they are create contests for the forum if they are usually less active forums or something.. but in an active forum like QH.. i dont see why members cant just take this up themselves. đłđł
8. KABHI Factor Thread and ASYA AT-We have 2 ATs for the same purpose.Both the ATs are fun but I think the 2 should be combined in order to avoid confusions.At times I feel that there are 2 KABHI groups when I visit the two ATSđ. Anyways the main point is that Rin and Shaz have organized a OS contest and have requested the mods to make the thread sticky which has not been done yet.May I know why??Mods plz make it sticky as it's a very important contest of this forum
Again, depending on if sticky space allows it the DT will sticky topics. Otherwise, im sure Gun and Jyo and Poo will post the links for all members to access in the Important Links thread. As for the combining of threads.. we want forum activity nah? đ If we combine AT's then wouldn't forum activity just decrease? đ
9. I want the mods to approach the members time and again and discuss matters with them instead of bombarding new rules upon them and asking for the implementation of the same.
This is between Gun, Poo, Jyo and all of the members. Not my place to comment. đł
10. Why is the birthday thread of Surbhi not Sticky anymore.I get irritated a lot when I see the important threads being removed from the sticky to create space for another one.
I think ive mentioned this enough already đ The birthday thread was moved to the Important links sticky. iTs still easy to access. (Think of it as opening a "Folder" on your documents section on computer. đ¤, if you open the "folder" called Important Links , you will find links to the GOTW's DOTW's Surbi Bday Thread.. etc... đł ) There only so much DT can sticky ..
11. Earlier,I made a thread entitled as suggestions corner.That thread needed to be in the main list but within 2-3 days,it was bundled up in the important threads sticky.The response on this thread was awesome as members suggested great ideas.I'm soo much disappointed that sticky threads are managed without giving too much importance to the significance of the thread...

^ Just as you have exams and are busy .. you have to understand that DT cant be online 24/7. THey are individuals as well. They have school, work, and social lives too.. and they / we try our best to come on and give appropriate amount of time and dedication to our forums... therefore at the point about Gun having exams (I'm not at all happy with the moderator of this forum because she has been too much busy with her series of exams lined up one after the other since October.) and not contributing, i didnt appreciate that. đł She too has exams just like you and has study nah? đł

alright so those are my responses to the points you brought up under responsilibites. I responded as a DT member in places where i could.. and in spots where i feel i dont have a say because this forum is Gun, Jyo, and Pooj's responsibility and its their decision .. i made clear that I cannot mention a comment.
Now As for your view on DT's of the forum,
The coolbies are just given the DT privledge of stickying updates .. same with videobies. They are not incharge or responsible for the DT decisions. Therefore, I do not find it fair to include them in how much they are contributing and what not. đł
And as for your opinions of Gun, Jyo, and RD... you have every right to state how you feel so i cannot comment on your opinion there. However as I mentioned earlier in this reply, i personally and professionally know this DT and I can assure you as not a Dt member, but as a fellow FORUM member that they do their level best in carrying out the neccessary actions in this forum. They try their best to be fair, follow the responsibilities that higher DT gives them, and yet be considerate of the forum members in their designated forums. They are good people. đł
